American School Bombay | High School Library - Stair to the Mezzanine Floor
: Travel Thursday 📍 and a bit of a feed change brings us to the George Peabody Library 📚 of Baltimore Maryland ❤️
So you know how most people have destination or experience bucket lists >> well I have a LIBRARY bucket list and this beauty has been on it for absolutely ages😍
The library was built in 1878 by philanthropist George Peabody and originally was part of an arts and culture institute–America’s first music conservatory🎶 ::::
The space was designed with a huge open air atrium aits core with each level of the library overlooking the central space. With a total of six floors the space was meant to be viewed as a “cathedral of books”📖 ::::
The main collection reflects broad interests but focused on the 19th century. The over 300,000 volume collection is particularly strong in religion, British art, architecture, topography and history; American history, biography, and literature; Romance languages and literature; history of science; and geography, exploration and travel::::
Currently the space no longer functions as a library but instead serves as an event space and backdrop for films. 🎥 ::::
You can visit this stunning library for yourself free of charge during its visitor hours which vary ✨ ::::
It’s quite honestly one of the most beautifully magical interiors I’ve ever set eyes on in the US and I highly suggest visiting to EVERYONE❣️
