Incredible family dinner at one of our favourite restaurants in Madrid, @restaurantelamaruca It's not the first time we made a post of them, but everything is so delectable, that we return whenever we can. This time we order the octopus, calamari rabas, cod puffs, bonless roasted lamb, "Rula" hake, and pork sirloin with cabrales sauce. Exquisite!!!!! #madrid#santander#spain
The very first beautiful red strawberries.

It’s gorgeous warm weather, electric blue wild flowers are here to admire and finally strawberries galore are making their way to the kitchen!
In Dutch these red fruits (that always come in abundance) are called “aardbeien”. Most Dutch people are on the lookout for the locally cultivated kind. In the Netherlands, they also go by the name of “zomerkoning” which translates as “king of summer”.
Here strawberries are even eaten on bread! It’s a simple recipe. Just spread some brown bread with unsalted butter. Slice some strawberries as if they were tomatoes and arrange them in a layer. Add a sprinkle of sugar or honey (definitely not necessary but this is traditional) and enjoy a springtime lunch.
In Italy? Well this fruit goes by the famous name of “fragola”. My all-time favorite dessert is “fragole al vino” which is simply strawberries soaked in wine - red is the prettiest by the way but Prosecco does winders as well !
My favorite salad with strawberries you might ask ? Well up until yesterday it was strawberries with rucola leaves and balsamic vinegar. More about my most recent discovery soon...
