3 years ago, still hitting the gym, little before I had to take a break, my knees needed a break, you can see how I had my hands on. Imagine working out muscles you can't feel! 🤓Getting these triceps to work is hard but definitely worth it! . So for those that don't know my triceps barely work. If I had to say they are about 50% and I have no feeling. This makes it super interesting to train! . Imagine lifting a weight but not being able to tell how heavy it is or be able to know when you've reached failure apart from that you physically can't move it anymore! It was very odd the first time I tried this!! . It does mean that any progress in this area is super slow but that's why I train the way I do. To improve to make life easier 😊 . If you want to be the best you can be you have to put in the effort when no one is there watching but the guy in the mirror looking back at you. I think about this concept often when I’m faced with the choice of stopping my training to set up for an Instagram video or to remain in the zone. That’s why rarely post lifting videos. I assure you all I’m making progress and hitting new numbers on a consistent basis, I just don’t stop to film most of the time. I figure I can stop and film every insignificant thing now, or train harder and build up to something I feel is worth sharing at the meet or show. Dorian didn’t stop in between sets for a selfie and neither should you. I don’t do this for attention & praise, I do this for me, but if you do here’s some food for thought...champions get the most praise, and champions don’t fool around between each set. #transformationtuesday . When I first began (seriously) lifting at the beginning of this year I had no specific goals except to lose weight. But over the last 9 months I realized “losing weight” is such an abstract term. What does it actually mean? . . For me it stopped being a specific number on the scale or the tape measurer. The false “ideal” look of 24-36-24 🤣. . I’m not a small girl, I’ve never been but at 39 and two kids later I’m finally embracing the physique I was blessed with and turning it into the best and strongest version I possibly can. . How do you get through the rig? Monkey swing or flex? 🐵💪🏼 . I used to monkey swing, which is probably easier to do, but ❌takes longer ❌higher chance of hands ripping ❌higher chance of slipping ❌unstable shoulder leads to higher chance of injury . The flex approach seems harder at first, but with lots of practice you’ll get through the rig in a breeze and you’ll be less likely to injure your shoulders. . Here are two exercises to help you get stronger in your flex hold. . 1️⃣Chin up flex hold at top and middle of the movement 2️⃣Super slow chin up.
