There’s something about the way,
That you always see the pretty view,
Overlook the blooded mess,
Always looking effortless,
And still you, still you want me,
I got no innocence,
Faith ain’t no privilege,
I am a deck of cards,
Vice or a game of hearts,
And still you, still you want me.
Oh, I always let you down,
You’re shattered on the ground,
But still I find you there,
Next to me,
And oh, stupid things I do,
I’m far from good, it’s true,
But still I find you,
Next to me.
So thank you for taking a chance on me,
I know it isn’t easy,
But I hope to be worth it.

! ☀️🌈 Felt good today, just still adjusting to the humidity. We got out a little late (not until 9:30) so, that was definitely a bit of a factor. But, pregnant or not, warm and/or humid weather can definitely have an affect on how you’re feeling out there.
Hydrate. Pre/Post/During the run- hydrate. If you don’t like to carry water (I’m not a fan) be sure to run in an area where you can circle around to fountains. The stroller definitely comes in handy with water carrying too! 🙌🏻 You can lose between 6 and 12 oz. of fluid for every 20 minutes of running. (depends on a lot of factors- heat, body weight, sweat rate, etc.) Thirst is never an adequate marker for dehydration, so have your hydration plan in place and stick to it.
Know that it may be necessary to adjust the pace a bit. Your body is working harder in the heat, so don’t make pace too much of a focus and, perhaps, run by effort. That’s not to say that great workouts and races can’t happen in the heat- they can! But, sometimes, an adjustment in goals or paces may be necessary.
Try to run in the shade when possible. Know your routes and try to run in a shady area or an area with a breeze from the water if possible.
Wear light, breathable clothing and (unlike us today) get out early!
And, perhaps most importantly, know when to call it quits. If you start feeling dizzy, nauseated or you have the chills- STOP RUNNING. ✋🏻 🛑
No run or race is as important as your well-being. 🙌🏻
