“Do no harm and leave the world a better place than you found it.” This is what we aspire to, and this week we’re brainstorming how we can combine our passion, skills and creativity to contribute to our communities. 🙏🏻
The Discover Year students participate in a community service project each year, directed and completed entirely by them. 📚
This is one of our DY grads from last year, Isaac, standing beside one of the mini-libraries the students created and installed as a way to bring the community together through reading. They had book donations and exchanges within 24 hours of installing their creation!
Visiting Småland for some late autumn sun on the porch 🐶
Chinese settlement in Arrowtown: Back in the late 1800s, several Chinese came to Otago during the “gold rush” and stayed in this part of QT. Some of their homes have been preserved to give us a glimpse into their lives so far away from their loved ones, creating a family and clan of their own here, toiling everyday. Walking into these empty homes where people made a home away from home made me feel a certain something in my stomach. Because deep within, I relate to it, this pursuit away from home.
Other deets: this is in the heart of Arrowtown, has a lovely cafe, so close to Chop Shop (our favourite, already shared in an earlier post) and a great place to start the trails.
Sometimes the beach view isn’t the best view 😍 What’s the most beautiful sunset you’ve ever seen? Post them with #Vallho

In Shuzenji, a small town in Izu peninsula. Has a few great red bridges over some small rivers. #japan

Looking back at Iceland like ✨
Amazed by more Czech castles! This time I feel like I’m walking to Rapunzel’s tower. This castle, located in Central Bohemia was once home to Archduke Franz Ferdinand an avid hunter. We were unable to go inside the castle (which we hear has a massive hunting collection as he was an avid hunter) because we went on a Monday. However, the restaurant on the grounds still holds the theme of Franz Ferdinand and serves many dishes prepared with local wild game from the surrounding forest. This is an interesting stop for foodies who like to try unique and interesting dishes. If that’s not you’re thing, no worries the castle grounds and park surrounding are beautiful and fun to explore.
It’s Dahlia’s season in Japan! You can appreciate these beautiful flowers at Ueno Toshogu Shrine, at Ueno Park, until October 28th, from 9:30 am till 4:30 pm. ¥500.
We did a walking tour of Barranco which ended at this spot. The walking tour was one of the coolest I've done, learning about the stories behind the street art, mixing with locals and even dancing with a Salsa champion.
Just your average morning ride along the Nile!
The Kleparz market is open every day except Sunday, and the best time to come is in the early mornings, when farmers arrive to sell local produce, including the famous mountain cheeses oscypek and bundz, as well as pickled cucumbers, sauerkraut, homemade pies, and thousands of other choices. 🍴You can also find specialties from Italian, Spanish, Greek, Turkish, and Hungarian kitchens, thanks to the many sellers who hail from these countries and contribute to the local multicultural character of Krakow.
When it's cloudy or rainy outside what you can do in Venice is try local treats for breakfast! One of our favorite spots is Bonifacio by San Mark's Square. So yummy! 😋
Happy smiles as the sun keeps shining in October on our blessed island.
Crete’s climate varies between temperate and subtropical, with an annual average precipitation of about 25 inches (640 mm) and hot dry summers. Winter temperatures are relatively mild. The air in the mountains is temperate and cool. Precipitation in that region is much higher than elsewhere on the island, and the mountains are often covered with snow in the winter (November to May), which may remain on the highest peaks throughout much of the year.
I’m quite sure that I was born with a restless soul which means give me two weeks tops staying in one place before my feet start tapping and my brain starts whirring thinking about the next adventure. This is how I’m feeling today, while dreaming of otherworldly landscapes and a place far away 🍂
Spring evenings in the 03 ✨⚡️
