I was in such a calming mood this evening. So I decided to head down to Hagley Park with my boyfriend for some well needed stretching and fresh air.
I probably stretched just my hamstrings for atleast half an hour, and it felt so good!

Nothing too crazy this morning as my body is just feeling beaten. Lucky for me I have a coach who absolutely knows his shit; not only around programming, intensity and when to back-off but also for rehab, niggles and progression. #thumbsofsteal
Don’t be like me and wait until things get niggly and feel rubbish, and you then deal with them. I say the same things to my clients, but if you want to move and function optimally, you also need to manage workload, recovery and see someone for maintenance work, be that: osteo, chiro, acupuncturist, psychologist - obviously goal dependant. You gotta look after YOU first!! 💛

When people get sick one of the first things they think is ‘why me’, early last month I found a lump and straight away went to the doctors. When I got told I had to be referred to the hospital I totally sh*t myself, but I am super pleased to say that two days ago I got my results and everything is absolutely fine 🙌🏼 I truly am blessed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We need to be pro active and look after the one and only body we have, there is no respawn, no do-overs, we get one chance. Eating smart can have a huge impact on your health in the short and long term, I’m not saying don’t ever indulge, I now like to follow the 80/20 rule because even though I now know I am fine I never want to have that fear again, my body is a temple and I will treat it like one ❤️

JETLAG TIPS! 🛬😴
Adjusting to a new time zone, routine, and weather can be a struggle. Currently feeling it now. Here’s what’s been working for me since returning from Asia:
1 - Exercise. Gets the blood flowing, supports digestion, promotes better sleep. Doesn’t have to be intense. Even something gentle like walking or yoga works.
2 - Hydrate. Traveling is dehydrating enough and we typically confuse hunger with thirst - which brings me to my next point...
3 - Fasting. With an altered sleep schedule, our body’s digestion gets thrown off as it’s adjusting to a new circadian rhythm. Fasting helps your body realign with eating at the right time so you can recalibrate faster.
4 - Get outside. Exposure to natural sunlight also helps reset our circadian rhythm and connecting with nature helps ground us. If you can walk barefoot somewhere, even better.
5 - Melatonin. This is a natural sleep aid that has helped me force my body to fall (and stay) asleep when it’s still used to a different time zone. My favorite is the liquid form that dissolves under the tongue for fast absorption.

I’ve been struggling with a sore shoulder for months and months. I should have addressed it sooner but I guess I hoped with rest it would sort itself out. It didn’t!! It’s just become worse and worse and now the pain has become so bad it’s been keeping me awake at night. So I went to see someone. As suspected I have a rotator cuff injury. On the upside I’m now on the path to recovery. Shoulder all taped up and the pain has already eased overnight. I’m now on a 12-16 week journey to regain full mobility. Taking time off training upper body will be a huge challenge for me as I live in fear of losing strength and gaining weight. But if I don’t address this now I could lose mobility permanently and let’s face it, nobody wants to lose the ability to use their arm. Thanks @physio_alanna

right people, this is something i thought it worth talking about because historically this is something I’ve been RUBBISHHH at🙈. i can’t stress enough the importance of staying adequately hydrated, not just for keeping your joints and muscles healthy, but also for your skin (to keep that gloooooooow✨), mind and MENTAL WELLBEING🙌🏽. drinking water not only helps us to remain healthy anatomically, but also helps the mind by assisting concentration, preventing tiredness, and also alleviating symptoms of anxiety and depression because when we drink water our body releases endorphins (i.e. the happy hormone tehe😊). yet this is something that we (defoooo including myself) neglect!🙈🙈 i defo used to be one of those people that drank barely water and neglected this! soooooo power days i try and drink two litres of water a day, and do this by making sure i have my one litre water bottle with me at ALL times💧💫 (we are legit joint at the hip). by having a water bottle with me it reminds me to keep drinking and is also hella good for the environment #singleuseplastic
i can honestly say i feel so much better for it, and have defo felt the difference, so give a try yaaaaall!🌟🌟 #stayhydrated
