Just so ya know... it’s ok to have repeats. I could be grateful for my fiancé, coffee, and dark chocolate for the rest of my life, and it would be 👌
Little late for #nationalpuppyday
, but I don't care! I'm still gonna share! These beautiful, sweet souls have taught me so much. Each and every day I learn acceptance, presence, awareness, joy, forgiveness, and unconditional love from each of them. Each one has their own personality and little quirks that make them unique. Each one came into my life at just the right time. Each one shows me that we are all connected and animals are just like us. Each one reminds me that I must be compassionate, loving, and kind towards all living beings. I hope you have the opportunity to love another animal, whether it be dog, cat, horse, rat, elephant, bird, or any other creature that may come into your life. If you open your heart, they will open theirs. May all beings be happy, peaceful, and free. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Berries are so sensual to me. I’m not sure why. Or, I’m not sure the exact reason; because of course there are a multitude of ways they’re sensual. I did write a whole series of poems on the sensuality of fruits and plants, after all. But mostly, berries remind me of summer and being alive and feeling like the world is an exciting canvas of possibilities for your own pleasure and desires. All of this, in a bowl of berries.
When we yearn for connection with others, we wish for them to see us- everything that makes us who we are, the stuff we like and the stuff we’re afraid to show. There’s still the little voice within us that says See me please and love me. We also want to be heard- by our therapists, our partners, our family, our friends, our colleagues, and of ourselves. We also want to be chosen. We want someone else to see and hear us for all we are, and still make the conscious choice to choose us everyday. We also innately want to choose ourselves too. The price is to hefty not to. ▫️
This isn’t about being selfish. This is about being self care. Love of Self. Centered self. I really believe these are 3 of the biggest things we desire in others and also ourselves. Otherwise, we begin to feel invisible, unheard, and unworthy. ▫️

If you find yourself dealing with a situation as small as sugar in the kitchen, to one as large as needing to head separate ways in a relationship, remember justice and mercy. Make every decision out of loving kindness towards the other and it will lead you down a much more peaceful path.
Justice + Mercy ❤️ Strawberries 🍓 + Sugar
Loving kindness matters far more than we often realize❣️ A reminder for you over on the blog today 👆🏼
Yin Yoga for Spring!
Spring is an amazing time for Yin yoga!
You may be wondering why I'm suggesting Yin right now instead of one of the more vigorous yoga practices that you might be craving.
It's true that any movement is good right now, especially if you're anything like me & tend to hibernate through the winter.
Yin yoga is especially good right now because it works on the tendons & sinews in the body (also called your fascia or connective tissue - so many names for the same thing!).
In Chinese medicine, it is thought that Spring time is associated with the Liver energy within the body (note I said Liver energy & not the liver 😉). The Liver energy in Chinese medicine is said to control the free flow of Qi (aka vitality) throughout the body. The Liver energy is also said to control the sinews & tendons within the body.
Our sinews (fascia/connective tissue) cover & interconnects everything within our bodies.
To help your Qi (vitality) move within the body, working with & stretching the sinews (fascia) is crucial!
The reason that having Qi (vitality) flow freely is so important is because it alleviates pain.
"Where there is pain, there is no free flow; where there is free flow there is no pain." ~ Chinese proverb
From a very simplistic view, we experience pain when our bodies get stuck or our Qi (vitality) isn't moving within a certain area of the body.
Getting out & getting some gentle movement into your day is a great way to help alleviate stiffness & pain. As it helps to move our Qi.
Occasionally, we need a little help to alleviate pain and stiffness we are experiencing. This is where practices like Yin yoga, cupping and Chinese medicine can be extremely beneficial!
Along with limbering up our bodies, Yin yoga also has the added bonus of limbering minds!
Do you have questions about Yin yoga, cupping or Chinese medicine? Drop me a line in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you!

Kodo Sawaki (1880-1965) was considered one of the most prominent Zen priests of the modern era. He was credited with bringing the practice of Zazen out of the temple and into the messy lives of everyday people.
In his quote here, he speaks of the nature of our breath as containing everything within it, both with the inhale and with the exhale. The point is to focus so intently on the breath that all of our attachments begin to loose, and we can begin to experience things simply as they are, without the incessant commentary of our egos filter being overlaid on everything. The result is diminished suffering and increased joy. 📿📿📿📿📿📿📿 #mindful #compassion #metta #humanity #lovingawareness #lovingkindness #truth #wisdom #mindfulness #prayer #meditation #contemplation #kodosawaki #zazen
☀️25 participants felt a sense of warmth and calm during our Spring Cleanse Meditation this past Saturday. 😌 🌸GEBIS Charlottetown provided a space to rest and nurture as facilitator Anna guided them through breathing, body scan, visualization and loving-kindness meditation. 💞
🧘♂️This helped participants tap into their emotions, and heightened their awareness of the sensations of their body and the movement within their mind. One participant said how the guided meditation practice made it easier for her to focus. 🧘♀️
Just a reminder to surround yourself with people who love and support you and to also not judge others or try and take em down. When you dont like something in somebody it's because you see it in yourself
That one was hard to bite at first but its true
every. Single. Day🙏
Supta Baddha Konasana (reclining bound angle pose) - releases tension in hips, groin, inner thighs, knees, low back and psoas muscles. Beneficial for relieving menstrual cramps, improves digestion, calms the mind and reduces stress. We started off our day at @vibesyogaretreats
with a vigorous vinyasa flow, some restorative poses, and a scrumptious breakfast of crepes, eggs, melon and pineapple (fresh and local, of course!). Next on today’s retreat schedule:swimming in the pool, lunch, zip lining, more yoga, dinner and quiet time 🌞🙏🏽✌🏼🐒🦋🐠🌴🌺🌊🥥🍍🍌 #playacarrillo #costarica #puravida #vibesyogaretreats #suptabaddhakonasana #recliningboundanglepose #yoga #playa #playacarrillo #bellydance #flow #plantbasedfood #inspiration #healing #renew #revitalize #release #dance #mindfulmovement #yogadancefitness #loveyourself #lovingkindness #prioritizeplay #prioritizeyourself #makedreamsreality #getoutofyourrut #travel #adventure #breathe #vinyasa
Your story matters; the whole beautiful, glorious, hideous-messy, wonderful, painful, successful, embarrassing, heart-wrenching loss of it, and... the every single itty bitty wholehearted gain. It all matters! YOU are woven deeply and undeniably into the fabric of a universe that is of unfathomable importance and astounding consequence.
Do not give up. Keep breathing. I want my breath to mingle with yours somewhere within this vast collection of multiple galaxies.
Sometimes we as people don’t know what to say to someone who is dying or don’t know what to say to someone losing their loved ones. We feel like just being there isn’t enough but I have found that sometimes you don’t have to say much at all and that just being there is enough and to practice active listening and fully be present and be mindful of your own stuff coming up✨♥️ What are some things people have said to you that you found comforting and tender when you were grieving? ♥️✨
Earlier in the day we went on a walk, and my mom pointed out this weird way the ice had frozen. Very geometric, and also very interesting next to the way the reflections of the trees in the water seem to squiggle in the photo.

Dusk is harder to paint sometimes, but I’m mesmerized by the gradation from the tippy top of the sky all they way down— it can encompass 100 hues at any moment. This was a quick postcard I did from my car upstate last weekend.
Pink skies are my thing. I often go to my rooftop to take in the twilight colors of the day. This is last night. Rosey, yellowy, lavender goodness.
Marbled surfaces and decor have been extremely popular over the last few years, in everything from countertops to table tops, clothing and jewellery. While sophisticated, authentic marble or stone can be very costly, especially for decorative items.
Here is a REALLY simple DIY (and kid-friendly!) to make marble-inspired coasters. It takes minutes, yes, minutes, and would make a really cool Mother's Day or Spring craft. For this project, you'll need a package of plain coasters. I found this 4 pack of cork coasters at the dollar store. You'll also need an acrylic plate (3 colours) and a paper plate or aluminium tray. That's it.

Even though we are on Spring Break from school this week, I’m up bright and early to get the final April box t-shirt order over to the printer, etc! We might need to make a Dunkin’ run this morning!
