Barça 🆚 Girona
📺 Movistar Partidazo
Last time we faced Girona at Camp Nou, 7 months back.
Portu (Girona) scored at 3', Suarez replied with a goal at 5'. Then began the goal riot.
Last time Barça played a game was 5 days ago in the UCL against PSV where we managed to beat the Dutch side with 4-0 after a Messi hattrick and a player of the week award, Dembélé scoring his 5th goal of the season, and a Ter Stegen clean sheet. Today we are finally back with a game to watch and it’s the Catalan derby. Last time we faced them at the Camp Nou we won with 6-1, and that game was remembered as one of our best last season, if not the best. We conceded a goal after 2 minutes but after another 2 minutes the score was 1-1, and later we finished them. Let me just add that I sometimes love when we concede first/ early, that makes us wanna score so badly and the game get more and more entertaining as we try to finish them with many goals because we know they’re a good threat at attacking, just like we saw last season against Girona and this season against Huesca.
With that being said, I hope this game will turn out to be the same and I wanna see many goals, and also a back-to-back hattrick from Leo.
If we take a look at Girona, on the other hand, was so good last season against big teams. Drew against Atletico home and away, won against Real Madrid at home, won and drew with Celta Vigo, won 6-0 against Las Palmas. That sort of explained how they have faced top teams, but sometimes they weren’t good at all either. From Barcelona, they haven’t got grabbed any points after losing 6–1 and 3-0 in the only two League games these two have played against each other. Today we’ll obviously try to keep that run and I hope we beat them huge.
Back to Girona again, their opening games in La Liga has sort of been well. They beat Celta Vigo 3-2 at home, they’ve beaten Villarreal away as well with 1-0. And their other 2 games has ended in a 0-0 draw against Real Valladolid at home and a 1-4 loss against Real Madrid.
This game could once again be a very open game, but the fact that Barcelona is playing at home and they’re much bigger than the visitors, we should expect a Barça win.
The match starts at 20:45 CET, can’t wait. VAMOS!!
Valverde's press conference ahead of Sunday's match against Girona:
Valverde: "Girona are playing without difficulties and know that they have nothing to lose. Eusebio is a coach who enjoys playing an intense match."
"Facing Girona in Miami? What do you want me to tell you? Tomorrow we have a match against Girona. What worries me is tomorrow, the other doesn't worry me that much."
"Real Madrid? I haven't analysed them in depth. Until we play against them, I can't say anything."
"My renewal? I have one year left with a possibility to extend it for another. The season is long. We are only in September."
"Dembélé? We expected a lot from him. It's not that I am surprised by his recent games, I hope that what he's done so far is only the start."
"Malcom? It's good news that Brazil called him up. Yesterday he completed a full training session. I hope that he will be available this week."
"Arthur? He had gastroenteritis. We will see how he is in today's training and then decide if we can count on him."
"Rotations? There's a lot of games now, three a week. They will be away from home which makes them tough. We'll have to be sharp against Girona. We will see the changes that are made."
"4-3-3 or 4-4-2? Last year we had a different play style, with Iniesta playing on the left. We'll play based on the players on the pitch."
