[Porcini agnolotti with/without truffle]
3 years ago, when I first visited @lumidining
, I was served a dish of spelt agnolotti with a pumpkin cream filling that would be contraband if more people found out just how addictively good it was. It was the single dish that paved the way for all subsequent visits.
I'm not sure if that same 'first time' magic could ever be recreated, but the fact that they keep trying? That is in and of itself worthy of revisits - again, again and again.

isn't the kind of restaurant where you can order a giant plate of tagliatelle for a $20, but when you're willing to shell out ten times as much for the chance to try it? No more words needed.

This was actually one of my least favourite dishes on my 7th visit to LuMi. That something this indulgent can be one of the less palatable bites speaks volumes for how good the overall offering is. Well that, and that the morsel itself is indeed just a tad too much. 🤔

and the restaurant continues to go from strength to strength. How certain other places are rated better is a mystery to me, but the result is that I don't have to book 6 months in advance - every cloud has a silver lining. This uni & stracciatella gunkan? One of the many, many reasons why LuMi is still one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney.

- quite possibly one of the best pre desserts I’ve had the pleasure in eating.
1.Toasted white chocolate,yogurt parfait,sudachi,kaffir lime .
2.Liquorice meringue,coconut ice cream,dehydrated raspberry powder .
3.Petit four-Pineapple reduction,kombu cream .
Thoroughly enjoyed the desserts,especially my favourite liquorice is on the menu!😋👌🏻

Deliciousness continues...I’m glad I ordered the tagliolini,the scarlet prawns sashimi on the pasta was so sweet!🤤😍🤤😍

// As part of a $150 degustation, you could pay an extra $15 to have more truffle with these Agnolotti. Last time i visited LuMi, these were my favourite item on the menu and the best pasta I’d ever eaten in my life. This time was such a disappointment. There was a baffling amount of truffle which surprisingly didn’t add much more than texture to the dish. Objectively detracted from the dish (who paired these flavours?!) There was so much of it that I ate it separately, as I was left with a whole pile of it at the end of the dish. What was worse, I didn’t get that explosion of flavour like last time when biting into the Agnolotti. It used to be stand-out, blow-your-mind good. I thought that two years on, with a more expensive menu offering, and a change of the old snacks becoming courses in their own right, LuMi would be improved and refined. Actually, my experience last time was far better when comparing every single dish and snack. How could they change that INSANELY GOOD filling of the old black agnolotti!? This used to be my favourite restaurant in Sydney.

Uni Gunkan Sushi. Not a huge fan of uni but this was amazing. 🤤 Briny and so fresh with a slight sweetness to it. Great start to birthday lunch last month.

2. Italian chawanmushi with spanner crab, tapioca, Yuzu Dashi and dried prosciutto
3. Porcini agnolotti with truffle
4. Tagliatelle, duck, cavolo nero with preserved orange
6. Wagyu karubi with koji carrot puree, lime kosho and burnt cabbage
7. Dulce de leche with mandarin and yuzu
8. Liquorice cream, coconut sorbet, meringue, aged balsamic vinegar
9. Mont blanc cake with fried steamed bun, apple and balsamic, chestnut mousse
