Adventures in Mesopotamian Cuisine at @zarzorrestaurant.
The Mix Mashawi Platter has a trio of gorgeous grilled meats each with their own beautiful flavour and texture. The ultra tender and herbaceous chicken Shish Touk. The bold and beefy Tikka Beef and the historical cousin to the modern burger but with a much tastier chargrilled exterior, the Kabab Kafta. They’re on a variety of mixed rice dishes that have their own tasty and vibrant character! I can’t pick a favourite variety. They’re all delicious! The kind and friendly server, Banafsheh, helped me choose a starter. The Kubbè Mosul is like the tastiest meat sandwich ever! With an exterior of bulgur wheat, it holds a filling of beef, spices and nuts to give the most glorious texture! The platter included hummus so I spread it everywhere! The meat, the kubbè, the veggies on the side! There was also complimentary lentil soup (a tasty chicken based soup with golden lentils. Yum!) and a tea to finish the meal. I added an apricot juice as well. It has a floral note of orange blossom water and paired perfectly with the grilled flavours throughout! There’s too many great options on their menu that begs for many returns to try them all (which I will!) I’m very grateful to Banafsheh for her guidance and help! Thank you for the great and tasty lunch!
