LMS 2017 U83kg Champion @lewendonjohn

ain’t messing about 👊🏽
240kg / 530lb squat. I have been working so hard on my squats the last year so im buzzing to have added 20kg to my max. All the sweat, pain, doms and burst blood vessels on my face were worth it
🐬I facilitated this last year and I’m psyched that it has been extended! Its It was on behalf of St Ethelburgas Centre for Reconciliation and Peace.
I often don’t share my work.
I mean to change that but some times it is because it's confidential and other times because it is work that is difficult to describe as it deals with that fuzzy area of ‘soft’ skills (haha, misnomer, much?😄). (And other times.. my bad!)
But this one speak loudly and and clearly!
Real people, Honest Talk. I loved this work. .
Really heart-warming to see a Luton community of elders having hope about how they face the difficult issues and talk about them in constructive ways.
I was particularly touched by how many big potential problems never actually happened… because of the existing capacity in the communities to self-organise and address things before they are an issue.
E.g. carparks of religious places being shared sensitively by groups of different faiths...
Parking is an already very difficult situation that materially affects the lives of a lot of people in a negative way. Could have been a source of massive tension.
But it wasn’t. This is honestly very big and worth paying attention to. It was mitigated through collective skills. How much of this goes unseen every day?
I really try to consciously honour what is already there (but maybe only unconsciously so). And then draw out the dormant skills. And only then, introduce new ones.
This approach tends to lift the self-esteem of the group and they more readily pick up the skills being taught, and go off with energy to do more.
Last year. Very difficult conversations were had last year and the groups felt more trusting of each other afterwards. We need more of this kind of thing in the world! Can’t wait for the next week when it starts again.

Guess the trifecta is official now then 👊🏻 this was my main fitness goal for 2018 so pretty damn chuffed I saw it off with a lot hard work but fun along the way. Over 42km in racing from the heat and hills of the Cotswolds to battling the gruelling elements in Windsor. Endless hours of training since January and burpee count up in the thousands. Big fan of the spartan race and sure I’ll be back for more punishment in the future 😬

A year ago these two fellas walked into @impact.pt
to get ready for the London Marathon. Overweight and with no running experience.
What these two men have done in the past year has been incredible, 1 London marathon, 1 half marathon in Marrakesh, kayaked the Thames, walked Snowden (half of it because of the weather) and they are taking part in the Love Luton marathon in a couple of weeks and lost 5-6 stone between them.
Not only have they done this themselves, they have raised an incredible amount of money for charity (I think £30+ thousand) and helped friends and family get into running, lead a healthier lifestyle and lose weight.
There are people you meet in your life that blow you away. @mostaque_koyes
