Milkweed is finally being recognized as a beautiful and beneficial native plant not just for monarch butterflies but a host of other insects as well. Though less formally recognized, milkweed is also the name of a disgusting cannabis-laced beverage that a group of stoned college students came up with in 1994.
[Last post of 2018] As Christmas is knocking on the door I want to thank u guys for all your support, nice words and encouragement! This said I want to give u a small insight view of my first year of macro photography:
1)This cute jumping spider was one of my very first macro pictures. It was taken with a regular 50mm „vintage“ lens with some extension tubes. From reading I knew that for shooting macro I had to use a diffused flash...so I held a small peace of paper in front of my internal flash 🙈😅 As you might guess this was kinda uncomfortable so I thought how to improve this method.
2)The second picture was taken at the kitchen of my formal flat. This lady bug was having a drink on the top of my flatmate's zucchini - so I took the opportunity. For this picture I used the same setup as before but with a self made diffusor which was attached on my camera's internal flash. This diffusor was used for all of the other pictures as well.
3)My profile pic. At some time i fell in love with low contrasty pics. Although it didn't last that long I still enjoy this pic.
4)While hiking in the Alps I got my first ever pic featured by a hub – which made me insanely proud😁
5)Shooting macro with just 50mm focal lenght tends to make you uncomfy at some time. So I started playing around with another lens of mine, a 70-200mm standard zoom. Looking back, this mystic frog was one of the only successful attempts so i quickly switched back.
6)Exploring other photographers pages on IG I really fell in love with black backgrounds. It took me some till I figured out how to produce them on purpose..but finally I did! Fortunately I found this fancy looking fly which hit some nice poses for me.
7)This hoppershot was taken for the first theme week I participated in. Walking around and looking for hoppers was a lot of fun.
8)One of my favorites. For this pic I extended my setup with a flashlight. Further I fell in love with reversed enlarger lenses.
9)Last but not least another of my favorites-the enlightened dragonfly. At the end of summer I began to shift back to more colorful backgrounds.
I wanna wish you a merry Christmas and some relaxing time with your families! See u in 2019 😊
