Cor, that rolled around quickly - it’s another #turntabletuesday
This week’s offering has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My Dad’s a HUGE fan of @motownrecords
and I think this record prompted me to learn to use his turntable at probably too much of an early age (sorry Dad! 😳).
I always get the same feeling when the introduction to the first track - Marvin Gaye’s ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine’ - comes on, and that’s anticipation of what’s to come. It’s so simple at first, then the drums come in, then the guitar... And then - ‘ooh, I bet you’re wondrin’ how I knew...’ SO COOL!
There are loads of other awesome tracks on this compilation. Highlights for me are Stevie Wonder’s ‘For Once in My Life’, ‘No Matter What Sign You Are’ by Diana Ross and the Supremes, and ‘Behind a Painted Smile’ by the Isley Brothers (with its ace da-da-dagada-da drum ending).
Such a classic album for me - I just love it Xx
