Years and years ago, I used to buy this tincture from an herbal medicine doctor in California. It was called Super Tonic. I got sick of paying for it, especially because it came in a little 1 oz. dropper bottle. I felt like I couldn’t take as much as I wanted or I’d be broke. I knew what was in it but of course no clue how it was actually made. I decided to make it for myself anyway. So for a few years I made it with what was in the Super Tonic. Raw ACV, horseradish root, white onions, ginger root, garlic cloves and habanero peppers. I used equal amounts of everything (less habaneros) and infused it in the vinegar for several months. The longer I did it the more powerful it seemed. It was definitely an immune boosting tonic. Each of those veggies has a powerful affect on your immune system as does the raw vinegar. Years later I started coming across recipes for something called Fire Cider. (Continued in comments.)
Drowning in herbs over here due to the freezing temperatures that were predicted. So much lemon verbena!!! It smells so heavenly and now I’m trying to brainstorm ways to use it all up. So far a simple syrup is on the to-do list along with an infused vinegar and a tea. Have you ever had to harvest a large amount of herbs? If so, how did you use them?
It's time to plant American Ginseng! Here are some special notes to remember when placing an order with us.
Richters ginseng seeds arrive September to November already stratified in preparation for germination. Some may arrive already beginning to sprout. They should not be allowed to dry. For best results they should be planted as soon as possible after arrival.
If immediate planting is not possible, remove the seeds from their container or packet and store in moist sand or vermiculite in an open container placed in a cool location (5° C. – 40° F.). This is necessary to allow the seeds to breathe. Seeds may be stored until the spring this way but germination will not be as good.
Ginseng seed may be planted anytime in the fall until the ground freezes too hard to work.

Most people consider the dandelion just a weed but it’s been used historically in Chinese, Native American, and European medicine..and it’s also one of my favorites 🤗
Dandelion leaves are a bitter, which are great for adding to salads. They are rich in vitamins A, B, C, D, protein, iron, antioxidants, and phytonutrients.
I generally brew tea from the root but the entire flower + leaves can be used. The tea has a mild flavor and is great for before bed 🌙
• great for detoxing your liver + kidneys
• used to relax for sleep and decrease anxiety
• aids in digestion and weight management
• reduces inflammation
• promotes healthy hair and skin
• helps regulate cholesterol
Every year there seem to be certain plants that I keep going back to. There are so many other things to harvest and I have plenty already, but look at the vervain! How can you resist? This is how I shop at the florist as well. I don’t usually go in with a particular type of flower in mind, I just wait to see what’s jumping out at me.
This year was a year for blue vervain. It pops up everywhere in the lavender field which is perfect, because these two herbs pair well together. I think this beauty is going to find its way into my new Relaxing Salt Soak.
I have enough dried vervain to make some available in the shop if you have some ideas of your own. Traditionally it’s been used topically to soothe the nervous system, detoxify the body, reduce depression and stress, and also to treat poorly healing wounds and joint pain. To me, that sounds like a wonderful herb for an herbal soak or a salve that you might want to toss in your bag and carry around with you.

“When everything feels like an uphill battle just think of the view from the top”
The time I rode my bike over the Coronado Bridge and made the 25 mile trek around San Diego Bay was definitely a highlight of my 4 years living in San Diego what an incredible view of the city from the top of that bridge and the ride down was so fast and fun! Biking is probably my favorite sport what about yours?
Så härligt! En del av det jag skördat och torkat har nu äntligen hamnat i mina gamla apotekarburkar. 🙏😊
Which one is your new favorite? I would love to bathe in Green Mandarin the scent is unlike any other citrus and it’s my new favorite, I think I’ll make a body oil out of it.

I love this picture of the fields full of the Herb Helichrysum 🌿! So amazing how the Lord left these behind for ya to use as a SUPER SUPER ANTI INFLAMMATORY resource for our body. This picture was taken at one of Young Living Essential Oil Farms in Croatia! What a sight! What other companies do you know that now only sells, packages, owns their own farms, has over 120 tests; to pass the purity, organic and chemical free tests 💯? THIS ONE!
And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”

I think we’re all aware by now that frothy coffee is life — but I’m not a big coffee drinker to begin with and I’m v picky when it comes to coffee. Why?
I’m super sensitive to too much caffeine and acidic coffee, and there are many coffees that give me a stomach ache or go right through me 🙈💩
Also, did you know that coffee is one of the most contaminated crops? Non-organic coffee is coated with chemicals and sprays and I’m not about that life 🙅🏻♀️
That’s where my addiction and obsession to @rebbl
comes in. I love @rebbl
so much because ALL of their drinks are SO. GOOD. But specifically their cold brew coffee drinks are my favorite because they don’t bother my stomach or give me heart burn/acid reflux, they taste delish and are not too bitter, andddd they don’t give me the caffeine jitters. Oh, and, they source their ingredients globally (like the medicinal herbs in all of their drinks) to support work around the world to stop human trafficking. I’ve said it before and I’ll say again. Nothing is more important to me than brands that not only have amazing products but amazing people and missions behind the products as well. 🙏🏻
Moral of the story? Coffee is one of those things that were all so used to grabbing anywhere, anytime, and not really thinking about WHERE it comes from. This is your friendly reminder to take a moment to think about whatever it is you’re drinking or eating today. Think about it’s entire journey to how it got into your hands and whoever it is you’re supporting by eating or drinking that thing ✨

Let’s talk C H A M O M I L E for a moment, shall we? Today I’m nursing a sore throat, and chamomile and honey tea is just what the doctor ordered.
This warm, comfy “hug in a mug” contains various antioxidants that help to boost the immune system/heal tissues, while its anti-inflammatory properties work to reduce pain and inflammation. The Manuka honey I added in is a natural anti-bacterial that will hopefully squash any critters that may be trying to set up house. (Not on my watch, ya don’t!) 🐝
Anyway, my throat is already feeling better after one mug. It’s truly effective! So, next time YOUR throat feels tight and sore, try making yourself Chamomile tea instead reaching into the medicine cabinet. It just may be all you need to find relief. Grandma, with all her herbal remedies had it right, y’all!
A monster Burdock (Arctium lappa) root we dug up yesterday with the apprenticeship class! This girthy beauty weighs over two kilos and will serve us well in making a large batch of tincture and infused vinegar. Plus extra to add to the next batch of kimchi! Besides being a super yummy veggie, Burdock is a fav liver and digestive herb, so mineral rich, nourishing, cooling and cleansing to the blood. Get in touch if you are looking for roots! We still have loads of Marshmallow, Elecampane, Licorice, Comfrey root and small amounts of others for $11-$14 per pound.

6. HERBS AND VITAMINS
There are specific herbs and vitamins that can help reduce the toxic load our body carries. Some are designed to kill foreign invaders, heal and boost immune health. Do some research and find out what would be best for you. Find a good source of colloidal minerals to include as well.

Now that it’s starting to get a bit colder out it’s the perfect time for this warming Ayurvedic tea. This highly medicinal tea has been brewed in India for hundreds of years. It is a potent immune booster and overall wellness brew, on top of being delicious. Each of these ingredients alone have powerful healing properties, and when combined you get a supercharged antioxidant, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory drink. This spicy tonic has been kicking my cold’s ass the past few days. #ayurvedicteas #medicinalherbs #feelinggood
3 cups water
5 tulsi leaves (I use dried since it’s all I have)
2 inches fresh turmeric (finely sliced)
1 inch fresh ginger root (finely sliced)
Pinch of black pepper
1 lemon (freshly squeezed)
Honey (to taste)
1. Boil water, ginger, turmeric, tulsi and pepper for 10 mins. Make sure to leave the cover on to keep the vapors from being released.
2. Remove from heat and strain into mugs.
3. Squeeze in lemon and add honey.
The ✨🤩Ginger Bug 🤩✨
There are many iterations possible (fermentation is very adaptable to what you have), but this my current ginger bug, the homemade version of my previous commercial post. .
It’s terrific medicine (ginger is used for the gut by every culture that’s had access to it, and promoting the gut flora with natural and wild, and therefore varied, probiotics, instead of the limited strains in a pill, is one of the best things you can do for your digestive and neurological health), tasty (think: better than the best ginger ale/beer you’ve had), simple to make and use, and you can get the ingredients nearly anywhere - no need to pay for some company’s patents, packaging, or brand name. This is all within your control to create for yourself. My favorite kind of medicine. .
The recipe is (approx measurements fine):
2 TB grated organic ginger
2 TB organic sugar (most varieties fine - try it out)
2 cups water
Stir the above together in a quart/liter mason jar, cover with something breathable but that blocks the bugs, like a coffee filter or here, a paper towel, and let sit at room temp. .
Every day, taste it and add the same amt more of grated ginger and sugar, and a few TB more water. When it’s fizzy, not very sweet, and tastes like something you want to drink, you can strain, or pour some out and keep the original going, and use as a ginger beer, on its own or in a drink recipe (a great Dark & Stormy!), or use as the base for further fermentation projects (putting other herbs, fruits, etc. for a second fermentation to get a natural, healthy soda, flavored with whatever you added).
Google “ginger bug” and/or check out @pascalbaudar
with his online resources and books - I can’t recommend this process or Pascal’s work enough. .
