What's a guaranteed outcome for the best or worst surfer in the world?
They're gonna fall off their surfboard... And what do they do next?
They get back on it.
This is the joy of surfing. Get on the board, fall off and get back on.
Open-eyed meditation is the same.
You create an inner experience with a determined thought and you ride the feeling, you go deeper into the inner experience, but... It is guaranteed that you'll probably fall off... You'll start thinking about the bananas you need to get from the shops, or the person you forgot to call, or why did Jonny say that horrible thing to you 10 years ago.
The mind is amazing but is also easily influenced.
The trick is to get back on the board (recreate the determined thought) and ride the wave (the inner feeling/experience) and go again.
Yes it takes effort. Yes it takes practice. And yes it is worth it all when you can ride the tube (the deeper experience). When starting out all you're looking for is a glimpse of an experience like the newbie surfer is just trying to learn to stand up without falling off. Then you'll know that it works you just gotta practice and increase the length of the experience.

To still do what we know will lead us to healing - that is the most heroic thing we can do in our moments of brokenness.
This week, we are exploring what it takes to navigate life’s most difficult moments with a sense of respect and understanding, so they can eventually lead us to freedom and growth. Sometimes it takes all we have to still show up to our lives and to the emotions or turmoil we are in.
One of the most helpful practices when you are in brokenness is to remember to practice ‘still…(fill in the blank)’. Still make the bed. Still move a little. Still sit in stillness - even though it hurts. Still be kind - even in the midst of navigating brokenness. Still take care of yourself and your basic needs. Still be forgiving and compassionate towards yourself and others
This is being an actual human hero during hardship. When you still show up and do all of the little or big things, you build strength and resilience, layer by layer, leading you back to being whole again.

📿Using a Mala to practice meditation📿
⚡️Create a mantra (affirmation) in order to focus your thoughts and intentions on the energy you wish to cultivate while you meditate.
🌬Take a few deep breaths and connect to your emotions. How are you feeling? Present in the moment or distracted by some discontent in your life?
🔮Imagine your close friend came to you with similar thoughts of unease...looking for guidance. What would you say? Now take that advice and turn it inward. This can be the basis of your mantra.
📣I’ve personally had trouble speaking my mind, as I am an empath and a Cancer, so very fearful of hurting people’s feelings, even though it may be important to share. One of my mantras simply is, “I speak my truth”.
📿Hold your Mala in your right hand, between your middle and index fingers. Slowly move each bead toward you with your thumb, reciting your mantra internally as you pass each bead. My mind wanders a lot, ALL the time... so meditation was always a challenge. This quote is one of my favorites...it helps me recenter in these moments.
💡This kind of repetitive affirmation solidifies the energy in your mind, helps form new patterns and projects it out to the universe!
