El Capitan stands tall as it faces a winter storm moving in over the weekend. The snow is finally sticking in higher elevations and there is more snow in the forecast! Living in Yosemite during a government shutdown is a different experience. A good amount of people flocked here over the weekend because no one is at the entrance gate. Be safe folks. We have very limited resources right now if something were to happen.
I have a habit of driving through the night to arrive at my destinations in the wee hours of the morning. After setting up camp, I decided to see what I could see on this moonless night while everyone slept through the frosty chill. Just a few stars raining down on Half Dome, and reflecting in the Merced River. It's incredibly calming and peaceful being out there to experience the darkness and transient silence, as Yosemite Valley isn't exactly remote.
