Aaron judge threw a long hop from 180 feet (at most). What’s your excuse for overthrows and short hops?
Outfielders, you need to learn how to throw long hops. Practice them just like you would any other skill, because that’s exactly what they are: A SKILL!
Also, notice how efficiently Judge receives the ball and transfers it into a throw. Most young players lose outfield assists because they spend too much time with the ball, NOT because they don’t have a strong arm.
📝 Simple back of the napkin math will show you that saving ONE QUARTER OF A SECOND (0.25 s) on your catch and throw time will allow an 85mph arm to play exactly like a 95mph arm from 200 feet out.
Remember, in an actual GAME it’s about getting outs, not showcasing your arm strength.

What should you do after you throw? To ice or not to ice? The answer is MOVE! Movement is medicine
. . .
The result of pain is inflammation which is cleared by your lymphatic system (carries clear fluid, water towards the heart) this is initiated by muscle contractions and is the bodies way of removing waste
. . .
Icing cuts off the connection to muscle circulation and stops the delivery of nutrients to the swollen tissue. Cutting this connection off minimizes the bodies ability to remove “waste”. This a big reason why we chose not to have our guys ice
. . .
After throwing we want to restore lost range of motion, reteach the scap to upwardly rotate, get the scap to sit properly on the thorax, work on scapular stabilizers, regain shoulder stability, increase mobility lost, address deficiencies that come w/ a high volume of pitches. Most importantly we want to move! Get in the weight room, hit some mobility, do body flow, Marc pro, etc.
. . .

Great job here of keeping he head over the back hip. Proper lower body drive and extension occurs when the head stays over the back hip all the way through the finish. Many hitters get to contact, and then the head finishes over the front knee. In order for this to happen, the head has to start drifting forward as contact is being made, resulting in a loss in power as well as plate coverage. This is one of the most common issues that VeloPRO is INSTANTLY correcting for thousands of players. For the first time ever, you can literally FEEL this breakdown occurring. When you can feel it, you can fix it! Get VeloPRO today and find out how much more is in your game! @joseh_pitching
