One of my clients is on a hiking trip with a bunch of strangers and was reflecting on the group dynamics which she’d been enjoying and finding a lot easier than usual. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Her reflection was that perhaps JUST BEING IS ENOUGH in these situations.
We don’t have to make a huge effort. We don’t have to always be talking. We don’t have to be life and soul. We don’t have to pretend to be anything or anyone.
We can just be.

Das Hotel ist nicht nur super schön und direkt am Meer, sondern auch mega hundefreundlich. Als wir gestern ankamen erwarteten uns Näpfe, Leckerlis und jede Menge Infos die man als Hundebesitzer so braucht. Absolut perfekt. Heute morgen ging es dann ins Hotel eigene Restaurant „Deichkind“ für das Frühstück. Super schöne Auswahl und total ansprechend angerichtet. What is it to be #mindful
Mindfulness is about being in the moment, focusing attention to the present and noticing when our thoughts have drifted. The thing I love the most about mindful practice is it's gentle approach. Being mindful isn't about forcing ourselves to live in the present or punishing ourselves when we are not doing so. It's about compassion, acceptance and non-judgement towards ourselves as well as others.
Practicing mindfulness isn't just about meditation and I'll be sharing some of those ways of practicing with you. I'd love to hear how you get if you give any a go and I'd also love to hear if any of you already have a mindful practice; what do you do to connect mindfully?

With everything happening around us, I just felt like I had to start off the week by centering myself with hope and courage. The monumental rescue story of the Thai boys and their coach – “the Wild Boars” is one that literally fills me with immense hope that not all is lost in this world. It brought people from all over the world to a remote village of Mae Sai to demonstrate what can be achieved in love, prayer and what some have said is a combination of science and miracle. Though the boys were trapped in extraordinary circumstances for over 2 weeks, all were brought to the surface safely through an astonishing operation that was only made possible through global efforts supported by many local volunteers and a community in prayer. Even the Thai Navy Seals leader commented that “In the end that tiny bit of hope became reality” - what an amazing outcome steeped in belief. We are often so busy focusing on everyone else around us, ticking off endless lists, sticking to a tight schedule, trying to achieve everything under the sun that we don’t stop for a second to breathe, never mind do something for ourselves! So my challenge for you this week is SELF CARE, take 5, 10, 30 minutes out of your day each day to focus on you and do something to make you happy! It’s not being selfish, because how can you look after anyone else if you aren’t looking after yourself! Run a bath, have a hot tea, read a book, take a walk, meditate, practice gratitude or chill out and watch some Netflix! There’s only one of you in this world, take care of yourself 💕
A new day with new opportunities, new experiences which become new memories. Let’s kickoff great with a flat white with coconut milk (sprinkled with cacao, at the side, to still see a little bit of the beautiful ‘Barista Painting’) 😇

Surrender can SOUND scary - it can sound like giving up, or relinquishing control. We are raised to strive for our goals, measure our success, and - unless we are achieving constantly - we slip into a story of "not enough". The relief that comes from understanding that surrender isn't giving up on our lives - but giving up on the story that we have about them (and how we think they "should" be). Instead, it is opening our eyes, and heart, to this present experience, and - instead of struggling against it (exhausting) - choosing to live every last drop of it. What we find, when we see what is really happening in this moment and not what we wish was happening, is that the rich, textured experience is far beyond our imaginations. There is more opportunity here than on any plan we've constructed - and we are fully equipped right now to live it - we are enough.

The beautiful swans of Bedford were out in force for our River Festival .. gliding along taking it all in .
We often talk about the glide covering up the crazy paddle underneath but I think these gorgeous swans were going with the flow .. not fighting up stream but seeing where the current takes them .. I have been looking a lot at how we create stress and how we are always looking to control things to minimise stress.. and finding it stressful.
Instead why not sit , Be present and see what your natural rhythm is ?
Stop for a while and discover what comes up .. what messages do you get ? Where should you focus ?
Let things happen in their own way , let go of the control a little and see if you truly can glide like a swan🙏🏻💖

Monday Mindfulness 🙌 and one of my fave quotes.
-Afirmaciones positivas, al despertar, en la ducha... de ello dependerá el resto de tu día.
-Proponte un objetivo diario. Ha de ser sencillo y no tiene por qué implicar el cumplimiento de una meta laboral.
-Trabajo consciente. Hacer demasiadas cosas al mismo tiempo supone no estar presente en ninguna. Una sola tarea de cada vez!.
-Descansos mentales. Se recomienda uno por cada cuarenta minutos de actividad. Y sí, descanso (instagram inclusive) 🙃

-Propose a daily objective. It has to be simple and it does not have to imply the fulfillment of a labor goal.

Rational and always judging me wouldn't have post this picture, yeah it's nice but "the light is not that great", "what was I even doing with that arm" and "it doesn't match with the standard I want to have on my feed" - yep, these are all thoughts I have before posting a picture.
If on one side I am happy to have "standards" - we want our feed to represent ourselves right? - On the other hand I'm like... this is me, this is real me and that's what I'm trying to be here, real!
It has been one of THOSE weekends, those weekends full of good stuff, good people, good food, good weather... so much good to be grateful for and bring with me during this new week. And this picture is not perfect but it's the perfect representation of the feelings I just mentioned: a happy and grateful me, carefree but at the same time worried that my hair doesn't look right😂
We're so so much used to judge before appreciating, that sometimes we trick ourselves in discarting something that has actually many hidden beauties☀

Morning Insta, another blue sky start to the day. In some ways some cooler weather and rain would be very welcome but winter will be here all too soon so I'm just going with the flow.
Up bright and early this morning to catch a flight to Crete for a few days away with my family ☀️. I packed my current favourite carrot cake overnight oats combo (RECIPE below ⤵️), which sadly didn’t make it through airport security despite me making it SO thick 😂. Apparently anything ‘wet’ isn’t allowed, although I’ve definitely taken overnight oats before 😏. Anywayyyy I’m not one to waste food, so I told him that I wasn’t letting it go easily. He laughed, asked me if I had a spoon (duh 😜) and then escorted me back through security where I happily sat and munched a very early breakfast... Sometimes it’s worth showing a bit of resistance right?! DEETS as follows 🥕 (adjust to suit your appetite): ½-1 cup oat(bran) // 1 tbsp chia seeds // 1 tbsp vanilla protein powder (or ground almonds) // 1 large steamed carrot, mashed // 1/2 cup greek yoghurt // 1 tsp maca // 1/2 tsp sweetener // 1/2 tsp cinnamon // 1/4 tsp nutmeg + about 150 milk of choice (add more if necessary). Mix everything together, refrigerate overnight and then top as desired! ✨ #mylifeisforliving
