Weekly Inspiration: A Genuine Act of Kindness … 🌟⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🎄It's that time of year when our awareness of giving is heightened. The holiday season is a time for giving ... to those we hold dear and to those we don't know. 🎄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love hearing about acts of kindness, especially this time of year when needs can be so great. I think that part of simplifying is just that, seeking less for ourselves so we can open a place in our lives and hearts for others. Check out this story! It was submitted anonymously from a woman in my home state of Utah.👇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"This year has been an incredibly rough one for our family. Our only vehicle was totaled in an accident and my toddler and husband have had medical expenses right and left. Most recently, we've had some fairly discouraging diagnoses, leaving my husband's work unwilling to work with us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Behind on all our bills, I found I was completely out of diapers and had no idea how we were to afford them. Toddler in arm, I went to the store, praying for help to purchase this much-needed item. While heading to the checkout, a young lady walked up to me, extended a gift card and told me, 'I felt inspired that you really needed this. There's $25 on this card.'⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"I was able to breathe a heartfelt thank you before she vanished. In that moment, as now, tears welled up in my eyes in ineffable gratitude for the sincere act of love and kindness in true form with the Christmas spirit. "⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you seen the true spirit of Christmas this year? Tell us about it below. 👇🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
[ Every Monday I share a story about an act of kindness. This weekly post series was inspired by a man with Jim written on this shirt who so lovingly helped me and my little family. Read that post and more like this with the hashtag #InspirationalGenuineActsOfKindness

How to cook fresh meals daily?
Sometimes I feel frustrated with this never ending deal of cooking every day.
Sometimes I feel tired just thinking about a new recipe.
Sometimes I feel sad when my meal is not a success.
When I notice these feelings coming to me I quickly search for rescue aids:
I make sure my kitchen is clean and neat before I start cooking.
I have prompts to raise my spirits, for example, plants and a family photo.
I admire the natural sunlight that invades our kitchen pretty much throughout the day.
Shhhhhhhhhh! I even have a dose of Baileys too.💛✨🌼
one question a week.
when I'm creating i don't think about anything. It feels like I'm standing in a gap between two spaces and i just let things flow. There is no space for rationality, only the plain intuition of that move right there in the present. What happens next doesn't matter, what happened one second before, is gone already. I am in a process of training to feel the same way in all levels and moments of my reality. It is a work in progress, but I feel we have no limits - beyond the ones we (over)think.
to just let things flow - and trusting the movements I'm presented in life - without resistance, is my new daily challenge.
what are u doing for ur self care right now?
One of the weirdest things about Vanlife is waking up in the middle of the night and having NO CLUE where we are.
Sleeping in a new spot every night can be very disorientating in a sleepy state. 🤣
It often takes us a few minutes to remember where we are in the morning.
Anyone else? Or just us 😴
Pets are something special aren’t they. If you have a pet, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Whether you have a puppy, a kitty, rabbit, or hamster. They are so loyal, cuddly, and always there when you need them. All they ask in return is a bit of play time and their favorite food.
Every time we come home, Milo greets us right in front of the door and sits next to us all day, never leaving our sight. He guards us when we take a shower and moves with us from room to room.
When we go about our daily routine, play time may be easily forgotten from time to time and I will admit that I used to forget once in a while. But play time everyday is so important and critical for their health.
I have a reminder notification for everyday that no matter what I am doing, I devote my undivided attention and playtime for Milo. It may sound silly to have a reminder but with work or school full time, it’s easy to forget.
Pets truly are something special. We love you @milosstory
, you are so loved and brighten up our home (and get your fur everywhere but that’s okay) 💛

An unfiltered sun shines on some of my worldly special things.
Film photographs of my favorite people. Various pieces of one-mans-trash turned my-treasure from various travels.
A few pieces of pottery.
Driftwood and rocks and pieces of nature from all over the world.
It’s interesting the amount of detachment to possessions you can acquire once you choose to seek it out.
The downsizing of my belongings by 50% has been a year long project, but it’s been brought from the simmering back burner to the boiling forefront this past month or two, as the end of the year approaches.
I literally feel weight being shifted and shed from my body with each box that leaves the house and each carload of donations and packages shipped out.
It feels some kind of wonderful to let go of that which I no longer need to make room for other things I’ve wanted to hold for a long time now.
Space. Simplicity. Freedom.
Quite a countering theme at this time of year. Getting rid of instead of obtaining
First time trying embroidery. I think this may become a new hobby.
Took some old towels and sheets to the Shenton Park Dog's Home for reuse.♻ These kind of things aren't wanted by the charity shop - at least not when they are super worn and old - but animal rescue places need these all year round.🐶🐱🐰 I'm always a bit cautious of taking stuff to charity shops in the month before and after Christmas because I don't want to overload them with extra stuff (especially in January when no-one's buying). But rescue places are good - I know they will be used.✅ In other news, I managed to resist adopting ALL the dogs whilst I was there 🐾
H E R || this girl right here gives me one look that lets me know exactly what she's thinking. . .lol. . .this is the look I got when I asked her to pose in our PEACE! tee. #mygirl #model
Day 9 of #12daysminschallenge
involves a portable luggage scale and some packing cubes because I thought if I was going to travel often I'd need all the stuff everyone who travels often has. You ever do that?
A reminder to keep my focus on what works best for ME. (Spoiler: It usually involves NOT getting more stuff.)
Everytime my sis in law visits she starts snapping photos of our house. She makes it look so cozy. I pretty much never want to leave. Thanks Aunt Calli for capturing all the moments, big and small. 💚
I love Sunday mornings because it’s the best time I have to clean the home. I find cleaning so calming and relaxing. I strongly believe my environment is a reflection of my thoughts and I feel so much more clear when our home is clutter free and gets a good cleaning. Using my DIY all-purpose cleaner (free of nasty chemicals & made from 100% natural ingredients). Works SO well at cleaning the toughest dirt and leaves a nice refreshing scent 😌☺️ #minimalistliving

“Single use clothing”
I have been thinking about this a great deal this holiday season.
I’ve always thought of clothes as something to use and toss, up until my minimalist journey. I used to buy ugly sweaters wear them a few times and toss them in the bin, or take them to a thrift store-buy new next year. I also used to buy cheap summer dresses to wear a few times in the summer and toss when it didn’t suit me. Boy was I wasteful.
I’ve also been guilty of donating clothes just because the season is over-even in this minimal journey and buying new when I could. Why?
I think in part this comes down at this point to an almost fantasy self-which is usually associated with too much. I am more so an #extrememinimalist
I sleep on the floor, have limited furniture, 100 items to myself BUT I am learning that I tend to replace things a bit too often, even if I am thrifting those items later. My vision long term is a more nomadic lifestyle or a tiny house amongst the forest-but as it stands I am a mom, living in a sizable apartment, being mostly stationary for the time being-I can hold on to a thing or two, it’s good for the environment and my pocket book.
Bringing this full circle, I have started a bin for off season clothing to rotate, which is where my Christmas jumpers will go for next year. I don’t necessarily need them, but I do enjoy holiday sweaters to wear in the season. I’m not advocating for hoarding things(I’ll have two small bins for off season stuff) but sometimes a little extra stuff is more minimal long term. I look forward to snuggling this grinch sweater every year until it falls apart🎄 I’ll still live extremely minimal, but I look forward to pieces I can love for years to come.

Books 🌿 I love to cuddle up on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea ☕📖. Tonight I will finish this one.
I went to Copenhagen a few weeks ago and since that I’ve been so fascinated by the Danish way to live well and their expression “Hygge”, which in some way can be described as slow living the nordic way, kinda. Read the book if you’re curious! 🇩🇰
I’ve been thinking of what goals I will set for 2019. One of them is to read at least 12 books. One book every month. This might seem like a simple challenge for some but even though I love to read books I have a hard time to just make time to sit down and read a book, instead I just scroll through all my social media. So 2019 will be less social media, and more books! 😁
It’s time to upgrade that toothbrush.

Un té verde. Una conversación. Una sonrisa. Tostadas con mermelada. Caminar en casa descalza. Correr en la nieve. Bailar. Son aquellas pequeñas cosas que significan un montón para mi. 🍂
Cuáles son esas pequeñas cosas que te traen al momento presente? 🍂
A green tea. A conversation. A smile. Toast with jam. Walk in my house barefoot. Running in the snow. Dance. This are those little things that mean a lot to me.
What are those little things that bring you to the present moment?
