#halloween #michaelmyers #lauriestrode #jamieleecurtis #judygreer #andimatichak #slasher #horror #terror #serialkiller #nickcastle
Disregarding all other sequels to John Carpenter's original, Halloween is the one and only true continuation of the Michael Myers story. The story picks up 40 years after that fateful night where Laurie Strode (Curtis) was confronted by her seemingly unstoppable and bloodthirsty brother, Michael (Castle). Now in present day, the killer inevitably escapes his incarceration and sets off to finish what he started. Curtis sets a new bar for what it means to be a strong female character, portraying Laurie as fiercely determined and prepared for the eventuality of her evil brother's escape. She’s clearly scared of what is coming but she doesn’t turn her back to run from the danger. Alongside Michael's escape, the movie diverts into some minor subplots that are simply there for padding the runtime and introducing characters to be murdered. Michael’s lumbering, powerful presence is executed really well, showing off his brutish and unrelenting force as he cuts a swathe through his borderline helpless victims. Thankfully for the viewer there are moments of light comic relief used to alleviate some of that tension and it is surprisingly effective. The big selling point of the film is the climactic rematch between Laurie and Michael that delivers an intense conclusion to the horrific events proceeding it. The overall package is a thoroughly enjoyable slasher that remains modern while paying faithful homage to earlier incarnations of the genre. Pro: Shows Michael’s perspective to build tension Con: Weak side characters Review by @riverlewis94 #Halloween #DavidGordonGreen #JamieLeeCurtis #NickCastle #Miramax #Blumhouse #Horror #Slasher #MichaelMyers #Vue #Cinema #Film #Movie #Review #GeorgeThoughts

MOVIE REVIEW: “THE SHAPE RETURNS IN THE BEST SEQUEL OF THE FRANCHISE!” When we heard that Pineapple Express’ Danny McBride and David Gordon Green we’re going to reboot the Halloween franchise, we were very skeptical, but then when Blumhouse got involved in the project, our excitement levels rose drastically. The Halloween franchise has had several sequels and the Rob Zombie reboots, but this film decides to ignore those movies all together and have this serve as a proper sequel to the original. The result, the original slasher has finally returned to the SHAPE that it was and creates a true sequel to 1978’s Halloween. Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her first role ever as Laurie Strode and this time, she’s on the hunt for the man that haunted her childhood. Suffering from PTSD, Laurie has been training for the last 40 years for one day ... the return of Michael Meyers! While the first is a classic and a slow burn, this movie goes right into the horror and we get to see Michael terrorize everyone from the start. Let’s say there is one POV scene where you actually go into the shoes of the psychopathic Shape and you get to experience all the terror that he brings. It’s Jame Lee Curtis though that is the real spotlight of the movie, as you see how her traumatic past has impacted her and her relationship with her daughter and her granddaughter. While modern horror elements are inserted into this film, we don’t get that old school horror feel that made the originals such a hit. In the end though, we may not be horror die-hards, but if more of them are like this, we may end up becoming them. OVERALL SCORE: 7.8/10 as this slasher is SHAPING up to bring the franchise back to form! 🎃🔪 #FlicksAndFlix @flicksandflix #Halloween #HalloweenMovie @halloweenmovie #LaurieStrode #JamieLeeCurtis @curtisleejamie #MichaelMeyers #TheShape #KarenStrode #JudyGreer @missjudygreer #AllysonStrode #AndiMatichak @andimatichak #DannyMcBride @lone_wolf_mcbride #Director #DavidGordonGreen #Miramax @miramax #Blumhouse @blumhouse #UniversalPictures @universalpictures

Halloween was so good earlier, honestly better than I thought it'd be. Reminded me of the original film very much. Beautifully shot and created all around. Yeah after rushing through 4 through 6 before rewatching Halloween (2018) today, the filmmakers made the best decision to ignore them all. I watched the new Halloween yesterday. A huge disappointment. It wasn't scary at all, no atmosphere, bad jokes, a terrible subplot, and a bad ending. Stuff is shown in the trailers that doesn't appear in the film. I haven't been this disappointed in a film since I saw the crappy Alien:Covenant. I hate Danny McBride. #halloween #halloween2018 #davidgordongreen #jamieleecurtis #michaelmyers #notscary #overhype #overrated #johncarpenter #blumhouse #badmovies #itsucks #miramax #judygreer #andimatichak
Halloween feels like a cover band playing the greatest hits of an amazing artist. In a series that has had some low lows this film is a solid sequel, but I had hoped for more. The big plus is the acting. Jamie Lee Curtis turns in an amazing performance that gives a strong middle finger to the victimization of Laurie in H20. The script had some issues. Most notably, expending a few characters who could’ve been interested while having a character’s motivations pivot in the 3rd act. Personally I really wish Dean Cundey had been brought back to shoot the film. I might change my opinion with a few more viewings and recalibrated expectations, but definitely worth seeing in spite of some quibbles. #halloween #davidgordongreen #jefffradley #dannymcbride #jamieleecurtis #judygreer #andimatichak #willpatton #virginiagardner #nickcastle #malekakkad #jasonblum #miramax #blumhouseproductions #trancasinternationalfilms #roughhousepictures #universalpictures #amctheaters #2018infilm #horrormovies #michaelmyers #lauriestrode #haddonfieldillinois
Caroline & I saw @halloweenmovie last night. I'm a LONG time fan of the franchise (I was "The Shape" for Halloween in grade school), so I had high hopes for the film and it didn't disappoint.. actually, it was pretty f'n sweet😱 Buckets of gore, intense moments, hilarious horror tropes, an AMAZING soundtrack (John Carpenter and Son!) and clever writing. Oh, and @curtisleejamie KILLED IT!! 👏👏 Omitting all the past movies but the original is a good call for this modern sequel/ "Elseworlds" take (there HAS been 9 movies already) and breathes much needed fresh life into the franchise. MUCH BETTER than the Rob Zombie reboot films, it FEELS like it belongs among the originals and steps it up 4 notches. Go. See. It. Halloween - Rating: 8/10 Recommend: Yes - Starring: Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak Director: David Gordon Green - Michael Myers returns in this direct sequel to the original film, Halloween (1978). Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) faces off against the infamous serial killer who has haunted her life for the past 40 years, since that fateful Halloween night in 1978. - This is the 11th Halloween film in the franchise (including the 2 Rob Zombie remakes), but this is directly linked to the original film, retconning all previous sequels. About a week ago, my cinema was screening the original Halloween film. I saw it when I was a lot younger, but I decided to re-jog my memory ready for this sequel. - I found this movie to be extremely fun and enjoyable. The film gave us a modern, yet vintage look to the franchise, keeping all of the amazing vibes we got from the original. With gory murders, yet a great story line. It wasn’t overly scary, which is a criticism I have, but it was still gruesome and gripping. It was fantastic and thoroughly entertaining. It is the Halloween film that fans have been wanting for a while.
I just wanted to say the new Halloween movie set the bar on how a modern/classic horror movie should be filmed! It was Awesome!!!! For the first time in years, after the movie was finish a packed out audience started clapping and cheering. It was relentless with a clever storyline along with clever acting. Top notch. This is the new standard in my opinion. The movie theater gave out mini Halloween posters. I framed mine....yeah it was that good! #miramax #blumhouse #trancasinternationalfilms #universalstudios #jamieleecurtis
Puntaje (En base a cinco estrellas): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ @halloweenmovie #Halloween #HalloweenMovie #JamieLeeCurtis #JudyGreer #AndiMatichak #WillPatton #VirginiaGardner #JohnCarpenter #DavidGordonGreen #CodyCarpenter #JeffFradley #DannyMcBride @miramax #Miramax #BlumHouseProductions @blumhouse #UniversalPictures @universalpictures #Films #Movies #BluRay
Halloween [Page 3/3]. While I believe that the film succumbs to a few moments of cheap jump scares, a unnecessary subplot involving a character with ties to Myers and situational stupidity associated with films of the teen horror genre (without trying to spoil much, all I could say is stay in the car and have your damn cell phone with you at all time), Halloween succeeded in making it's environments unsafe and fear-inducing by capturing the feeling of how scary something as simple as taking out the trash as you never know who or what could be lurking behind the shadows or could have already entered your home without staying secured or paying attention to your surroundings, or found you in a enclosed area you could barely get away from the movie gets it. Plus, this movie isn't devoid of humor as we get several instances of self referential dialogue that doesn't feel snide like the Scream era slashers of the '90s and much needed levity with a younger character acknowledging the severity and terror of the situation. It's not large scale in any sense, but it's these simple elements that made the original scary that works just as well here, and with Green's vision complete with his signature intense camera zoom-in and zoom-outs, Carpenter's awesome new reworking of his classic compositions, the stellar performances from Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer and newcomer Andi Matichak, who fulfills the young Laurie's role, it's cleverly implanted callbacks to previous entries of the series and new spins on the mythology that brought a much-deserved revitalization to the franchise. Halloween 2018 is a fun, new school ode to some old school aesthetics and approaches to creating small but effective does of close-quarters horror and thankfully rejected years of mediocrity brought on by the later films. Rating: 7.5 out of 10. #halloween2018 #davidgordongreen #moviereviews #risesreviews #slasherfilms #horrorfilms #jamieleecurtis #judygreer #andimatichak #willpatton #virginiagardner #nickcastle #2018movies #2010smovies #blumhouseproductions #miramax #universalpictures
Halloween [Page 2/3]. From the minute the movie began with a variation on the classic jack-o-lantern opening credit sequence complete with the reworked yet familiar theme tune and the vintage orange serif gothic fonts, along with the pre-existing information of John Carpenter's return to the series as executive producer and composer, and Green and McBride actively doing their homework as fans of the original, I knew this film was in good hands. They've brought the franchise back to form by proving that it's not the excessive gore that makes Michael scary; it's his mystique, unpredictability and inhuman aura that makes him this chilling, near-unstopppable agent of death that spooked the audiences in droves back in '78 and while the grisly, bloody violence is present, it's savage and effective, and shows how far Myers has come from years of imprisonment. This movie made the right move by eliminating past movies from it's continuity and therefore removing his relationship with Laurie Strode and accumulating number of ludicrous supernatural ties to keep Michael's motives all the more mystifying and terrifying while also showing that he's still human. Jamie Lee Curtis made a welcome return to her role of Laurie and we now ser her as this now broken, crazy prepared and badass survivalist still reeling from post traumatic stress of that night, and her paranoia and harsh methods has estranged her from her adult daughter Karen (Judy Greer) while she still maintains a quiet, secretive bond with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) in hopes of keeping her from danger. Her story was tragic in itself and mirrors that of Sarah Connor, another lone survivor who instilled years of militaristic training and preparation in her child for protection but at the cost of a normal life, and the film has that working to film's advantage as we witness the urgency that Laurie and eventually her family are put through. #halloween2018 #davidgordongreen #moviereviews #risesreviews #slasherfilms #horrorfilms #jamieleecurtis #judygreer #andimatichak #willpatton #virginiagardner #nickcastle #2018movies #2010smovies #blumhouseproductions #miramax #universalpictures
Rises Reviews 🎥. Movie: Halloween [Page 1/3]. Back in the early 1990s when I was a wee lad who shouldn't be watching horror movies at such a young age, there was one film that I watched religiously on VHS and continued to watch and admire well into my young adult years and that was 1978's Halloween. John Carpenter's seminal slasher film that scared the hell out of viewers upon release and spawned a continuous film franchise including a unrelated stand alone film, diverging continuities/retcons and a remake series has helped shaped the way I watched movies with it's emphasis on creating atmosphere and a foreboding mood with it's memorable theme music, the looming and terrifying presence of it's iconic antagonist Michael Myers and Donald Pleasance's unnerving performance as his psychiatrist Sam Loomis. While the sequels have differed in quality (I still enjoy the original 1981 sequel and even Season of the Witch), they have all lost the essence of what made the original so great in the first place and that has led to the making of this highly anticipated new installment that I'm happy to say did not disappoint. Ignoring the events of the past entries, 2018's Halloween is a direct sequel to the original film of the same name and takes place forty years after Myers escape and murder of three teens on Halloween, which left lone survivor Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) traumatized. Now, Myers has once again escaped from custody and makes his way back to Haddonfield, while a more hardened Laurie awaits his return so she can finish him off for good. Taking the helm of the new film is David Gordon Green (Undertow, Pineapple Express) who restores the building tension of the original films along with his own new rules. yet moody cinematic style and accomplished his and co-writer Danny McBride's (yes, THAT Danny McBride) goal of creating a Halloween movie that was fairly faithful to the original in terms of scares. #halloween2018 #davidgordongreen #moviereviews #risesreviews #slasherfilms #horrorfilms #jamieleecurtis #judygreer #andimatichak #willpatton #virginiagardner #nickcastle #2018movies #2010smovies #blumhouseproductions #miramax #universalpictures

Aside from the quick editing of certain parts of the movie like some Blumhouse produce flicks can be, Halloween 2018 is a return to form for the characters of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode and it was a wise decision to ignore every single sequel in the franchise to tell the story of a past survivor ready to fight back for when the time comes. Some hokey dialogue from extras and one or two main characters aside, a majority of the actors, including Jamie Lee Curtis as an aged up Laurie Strode, hit it right out of the park. As a Sarah Conner-inspired take on the character, she has a commanding presence that only someone like Jamie Lee Curtis could strife and is the biggest highlights whenever she appears on screen. The same goes for Michael Myers. Unlike in Halloween II and the Rob Zombie Halloween flicks, the brutal gory takedowns that Michael Myers does in this sequel feel like they have a purpose in portraying a subtle but subdued aged up Michael that has waited for 40 years to finish what he had started with Laurie while also creating a pile of corpses along the way. It goes back to the simpler almost supernatural take of the character while also still giving what modern day horror fans want in their kills. Halloween 2018 mostly does a great job in feeling like a plausible continuation of the original many years later and it should satisfy plenty of fans of the original. #Halloween #Halloween #UniversalPictures #Universal #Miramax #BlumhouseProduction #Movie #Film #WilliamsburgCinemas #Williamsburg #Brooklyn #NewYorkCity #NYC #NewYork #NY
