Music: Black Atlass - Paris
Hazrat Abbas (ع) bother of Imam Hussain, the flag bearer of Hussain's army and the bravest of all. Abbas came into this world as a saviour of Imam Hussain (ع). He promised his mother that he would lay down his life for Imam Hussain and his children.
Being the son of Ali, Abbas was a valiant warrior, no one would dare to fight him in the battlefield.
On the day of Ashura Imam lost almost all his companions and several times Abbas asked Imam Hussain for permission to go and fight. Each time he would refuse as he was the captain of his army. Imam Hussain knew Abbas alone could defeat Yazid's army and if he let him go to fight there would be a massacre in the enemy rank. Hussain's aim was not to score a victory in the battlefield but to reawaken and save Islam.
Abbas was very close to Imam Hussain's 4 year old daughter Sakina. When she came out holding a dried mashk (water bag) asking for water. Abbas went to Imam and asked for permission to go and get water for Sakina. Imam granted the permission but took Abbas's sword and gave him a spear for his defense. The enemies started hiding as they saw Abbas coming in the battlefield. Abbas reached the Furaat River and filled the mashk with water. He himself was very thirsty but didn't drink water as he first wanted Sakina to quench her thirst. Abbas, with his Alam in one hand and his spear and water-filled mashk in the other, rode back. Yazid's commander ordered his men to stop Abbas taking water to Hussain's tents. A soldier crept from behind and struck Abbas's right shoulder. The spear and right arm fell on to the ground. Another soldier came and struck him on the left shoulder. His left arm and the alam fell. Abbas gripped the mashk with his teeth. At that moment his only aim was to get the water to Sakina. An arrow was shot, it hit the mashk and the water began to pour out and with it all the hopes of Abbas poured on to the sands of Karbala. Another arrow struck his eye and he fell on the ground calling out for Hussain, O Maula, my salam to you. When Imam Hussain heard his voice he lost all the strength as Abbas was his only hope in Karbala.
