INGREDIENTS CILANTRO LIME CHICKEN: 1.5 lb. boneless chicken breast 1/4 cup lime juice 2 tablespoons olive oil 1/4 cup fresh cilantro 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1/4 teaspoon salt AVOCADO SALSA: 4 avocados, diced 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, diced 3 tablespoons lime juice 1/2 tablespoon red wine vinegar 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 garlic clove, minced salt to taste INSTRUCTIONS To a small bowl, add 1/4 cup of lime juice, olive oil, 1/4 cup of fresh cilantro, ground cumin, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Whisk until mixed. Add chicken and marinade to a large ziplock bag. Let chicken marinade for 15 minutes. Preheat grill to medium high heat (about 400 degrees). Place chicken on grill and grill each side for 4-6 minutes, until chicken is no longer pink. Remove and let sit. To make the avocado salsa: add avocado, 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, 3 tablespoons lime juice, red wine vinegar, red pepper flakes, garlic clove, and salt to a small bowl. Gently toss to mix. Top Cilantro Lime Chicken with fresh Avocado Salsa.

When I was single, I would treat myself to “Meat Crush Monday,” every (you guessed it) Monday. I would get myself a fairly nice bottle of wine - usually red - and a good cut of whichever kind of meat I was craving. I would put on Jazz and sip while I cooked. Often times I would start by watching a few YouTube videos on the best way to prepare whatever it was I was going to make, even if I’d cooked it before. I did all this because I found myself, so many times, not enjoying evenings like this with just myself. It’s like I was waiting for the right person to come along so I could do these things. Hello! I realized I was that person all along. I deserved to enjoy things, be it by myself or with loved ones. I finally found my person, I did. But last night, with her away at work, I decided to treat myself for old time’s sake. I opened one of my favorite Malbecs, tuned in to YouTube, turned on some Duke Ellington, and crushed meat. Cheatday meal: Sandwich with sliced org. grassfed red steak marinated in beer, pepper and org. maple syrup. French omelet, spinach, fieldsalad, highly fermented cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, peanuts, ginger chutney, olive oil, garlic, fresh basil, activated charcoal salt and avocado. 1 large well-tasting beer to wash it all down - yum! Everything is organic, freerange, grassfed etc. Except the bread, beer and chutney. Having a cheat day doesn't have to mean going overboard with expensive candies, chips, alcohol and all that. I feel like crap the next day if I run amok, so I choose a balanced or moderate approach, this meal has a bit of gluten, alcohol and quick carbs but also a lot of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, "detoxifying" agents, probiotic cultures, essential fats and aminoacids and neurotransmitters like oxytocin, dopamine, acetylcholine and serotonin are released + it is cheap, quick to make (if you know how to cook) and tastes amazing. This is posted the day after and I dont have a cheat day "hangover" at all. Left or right? I have to admit, dried figs are so sweet and tasty and you can make so many healthy desserts adding just some nuts , seeds, cinnamonn but the fresh ones are so soft and juicy also.. ! One of my personal favorite foods that most people would label as “bad” for you are potatoes. I like chips, mashed potatoes, French fries, all that yummy starchy stuff! Guess what, I can still eat them! Not every day but often enough that I’m not miserable watching everyone at a gathering enjoy, while I sit with a salad. How I do it: 1. I don’t buy potato products for the house (Unless it’s sweet potatoes). 2. If I get them at a restaurant I often share if it’s a large serving. 3. I don’t ask for a large serving 🙃. I still crave chips or french fries every once in a while but not as much as I use to when I was telling myself I couldn’t eat them. You’d be surprised how much you want something when you can’t have it. Grass fed beef meatballs (one egg, 3/4 cup bread crumbs and approx 3tbs extra virgin olive oil) chicken breast with 1/2 can pineapple chunks with juice for flavor. If I eat this, then that will happen. Has anyone ever eaten something a handful of times and then developed some disease, condition, or had weight change? No, but yet most of what I hear my patients say are fear based statements. We shouldn’t be afraid to eat food we enjoy. There is a way to eat any food in moderation (which will be different person to person) and not have negative consequences of that food (obvi not talking about allergies or intolerances). Quindi Attenzione, preferisci l'acqua a qualsiasi altra bevanda e tagliare la calorie sarà più facile.👊🏻 - 2. MUOVITI: ovviamente allenarsi è consigliabile, ma oltre alle poche ore a settimana che ti alleni, cerca di mantenerti attivo: cammina, fai le scale, muoviti a piedi, organizzati per rendere la tua vita meno immobile possibile. 🤸🏼‍♀️ 10 mila passi al giorno è un obiettivo che puoi porti. - 3. I have the hardest time with resting. I’m addicted to productivity and will run myself into the ground trying to maximize every minute of the day. When I do this for too long without a break I end up exhausted, totally unproductive, and a giant cranky pants. This weekend has been a prime example of this. So today, I’m taking the time to rest. Because I deserve it. I deserve self care. I deserve time to recharge in order to be my best self. And so do YOU. Take this as the sign you’ve been looking for! Will you join me? Last night's lush cheat meal Big Boy 8oz steak cheese burger & sweet potato fries polished off with some awesome chocolate fudge cake and vanilla ice cream and a bottle of Vino. After a awesome week of training and good discipline sticking to my macros and daily calories on myfitness pal, not giving in to temptation at work of free crispy cremes, cookies, lindt and guylian chocolates this big boy burger & choc cake was defo earnt and tasted awesome. I have been in a calorific deficit all week and 500-700 less than my TDEE baseline calories . Yesterday I factored in having this meal and was planned, I ate a meal less of carbs during the day and was mindful that I would be consuming a big amount of my calories with this meal at night. I still tracked my food so I could see where i was and to not overeat or become a cheat meal whole day or weekend and still be accountable to myself and not over indulge and lose my deficit I have lost this week. This meal & vino plus eating x4 meals before this meant my total daily calories went back up to my my TDEE maintenance weight calories which is fine as its 1 day. . Remember there are 7 days in a week to make a calorific deficit and each day may be different and 30 chances a month. I trained upper body & cardio yesterday morning and a big legs & Cardio session this morning. This is all about balance and mindful of my input to output. Yesterday was all about 🍦so today it’s all the green things. I never like to restrict my eating too much, instead choosing a balanced approach to eating so that I can enjoy all the good things (🍩🍪🍦🍰🥧) guilt-free when I want to while embracing my typical unprocessed, whole-foods approach to eating most (80-90%) of the time! The Paradox of Progress 🔐📲 I've had a concern brewing for some time. Every day I walk around DC I find it harder and harder to make eye contact with anyone. No smiles, no nods, just the tops of heads hovering over a limped wrist. ▫️ The more I think about it I’m struck by this idea of a variety of "curtains," sort of an allegory, but without the story. ▫️ Bear with me... ▫️ The first one, imagine yourself behind a thin sheer curtain. You can still see whats happening outside, but you are slightly removed from everyday reality. More importantly, people can't clearly see you, and you can avoid direct contact. I think many people (even myself at times) can stay in this zone to escape into the digital abyss. ▫️ Next, we have a slightly bolder curtain. A blackout. Perhaps headphones on, head down using peripheral vision to keep from walking straight into traffic. I know people have seen this (or done it). Engrossed in social media and television content but can at times "open the curtain" and look out into the real world with some level of understanding, albeit not fully engaged. Typically people that get stuck here for lengthy stretches become very hard to reason with as social media strengthens their positions. ▫️ Finally - my biggest fear - is what I'm starting to see. Not only is there a curtain, but behind the curtain, is a painted window of a false reality. Like some version of perfection or more likely absurd fears and misperceptions about our lives and the world around us. I'm noticing more people so anxiety-ridden with a conversation with strangers that it keeps them isolated and immersed. Clearly, this can create a distorted worldview and damage interpersonal relations, further compounding the problem. ▫️ This thing 📱 that was supposed to bring unlimited power to connect to our lives could be the thing to unplug us from what it means to be human. The tech and marketing community have used brain science around cognition to keep us engaged and for lack of a better term "hooked." I think it's important to know which curtain you're behind and be mindful of your outlook on the reality unfolding around you. ▫️ #innerpeace #harmony #unplug #bemindful
HOMEMADE KIT KAT BARS 🍫🍫 Anybody else have an insatiable love for candy? I do, in all forms — gummy, chocolatey, sour, crunchy. I literally eat it all. In fact, my mom actually says when she was pregnant with me she was CRAVING candy the whole time! Indisputable evidence I’ve been obsessed since before I was even born. 😂🍭 As a self-proclaimed candy aficionado, I’m always curious about “healthy” candy remakes or DIY candy bars. I usually follow the belief that I’d rather just have the real thing in moderation, but when I came across @thebigmansworld recipe for these kit kats, I knew I had to try it! My adaptation of his recipe is below, but check out his page for the original recipe! . . . . . . Ingredients: 2 cups @generalmills rice chex cereal + 1 cup chocolate chips + 1 tbsp coconut oil + 1 tsp raw cacao powder + Heaping tbsp crunchy natural Pb. + + + Directions: Add everything except Chex to a microwave-safe bowl and melt completely. Put Chex in a separate medium mixing bowl. Pour melted chocolate mixture over Chex and stir very gently as not to break the cereal. Lay flat in a foil-lined pan and chill in the fridge for at least two hours. Leggies & hump-dizzle ✔️✔️ . . Currently sitting @ the doctors office. Been sick for several days now. But I’m stubborn & just continued my workout routine as per the usual. I should have been resting... Struggled thru my workout today. After taking longer breaks between sets, trying to catch my breath, & feeling like there’s not enough H20 to go around... finally decided to take my butt to the doctor to find out I have bronchitis. Don’t worry it’s not contagious 👌🏼 . . I’ve learned my lesson! Listen to your body when it’s telling you to slow down. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend👏🏻
