I always knew that I wanted to share my love for reading with my kids and from the very beginning, we would look at picture books and sing nursery rhymes. Even though my children are too big for picture books now 😢, some of them have become sentimental items that I am under strict instructions to 'keep forever!'. So if you're looking for some great new books for your little ones, here are some of our family's most popular books for babies and toddlers:
Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox - We received this book as a gift for our daughter and it became a bedtime favourite.
Each Peach Pear Plum by Janet Ahlberg and Allan Ahlberg - I'm going to tell you an embarrassing little secret: I can still narrate this entire book by heart! My son absolutely loved this book which features everyone's favourite nursery rhyme characters.
On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman - This sweet book is a great gift for new babies and new parents!
Hug by Jez Alborough - I picked this book up at a second hand book sale, mostly to keep my little boy entertained as I volunteered on the stall (HINT! Always offer to run the book stall, you'll pick up some gems!). I picked it up for about fifty pence and little did I know, it was going to become my toddlers' absolute favourite book!
That's Not My...by Usborne Books - These fun books are perfect for getting curious little ones to start turning pages by themselves.
