Dirt road adventures. Thank you to all of the Veterans who have served our country and fought for our freedom!
Missing the golden leaves of the Eastern Sierras. Even though I visited a little past peak, it was still breathtaking to see the hillsides covered in gold and listen to the whistling aspen sing in the wind. #havesidekickwilltravel #whpseasonal
I did it, I reached my training goal. This has been an unpredictable journey, but it has taught me more about being patient. With injuries, sickness, and poor air quality, I had to learn how to control my frustration and listen to my body.
I can't believe that it's now time to taper off and get mentally prepared for my 50 miler race.
I've had friends ask me how I did it. How I got into running or say that they wouldn't even be able to run a mile. But that's where I started, with that first mile.
I started running in high school after I jokingly told my friends that i was going to join the x-country team and they laughed at me and said I didn't have the body of a runner. So I proved the haters wrong and did it. So the first time around it was to challenge the opinions of others. After college, I went into a bad depression and my suicidal ideation returned. I got back into running to feel better physically, mentally, and spiritually. And guess what. It's been working for me. I love challenging myself and doing new trails and new race distances. This time around, I'm doing it for me because it makes me happy.
So if anyone wants to start trail running, remember that it starts with the first mile
