Taking a recovery day with lots of stretching to come in a bit. That means these two get a long slow walk filled with lots of fresh air. Nora and I take turns pushing. The child has an abundance of energy to get out, so I really don’t mind that she only sits in the stroller for 5 minute increments. #lifeofamom #toddlerlife #activerecovery #runningmomma #motherrunner #marathonmom
“On October 28th, 2018, I ran across the finish line proudly, of the Marine Corps Marathon for the 5th time. I showed up to see what I could do, and at 7 months postpartum, I finished 26.2 miles in 4:44:21.
My goals for this race were to fight, keep moving forward, celebrate my pace every five miles, smile, and run happy… so that’s what I did. Mission accomplished.” ⚡️ Read my RACE RECAP up on the blog!! ⚡️ link in profile!
Day 2 of strength for the week. No particular focus so I made it an all body session early this am. I try to get legs in 3 times a week since I have a tendency towards running injuries related to muscles not firing. Gotta keep those glutes on FIRE! 🔥 🔥 🔥 -
Alternating bicep curls
Narrow chest press
Lat pull down
Rear lat pull down

Today was strength training. Arms and abs with just a little leg in there. These pictures show you what I get to see when I’m sitting in my happy place, the sauna. That’s always the best reward after a workout. #motherrunner #fitmom
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted an exercise! Love these Banded cable squats! For some reason I really want to call them squatty potty’s 🤷🏼♀️🤔😜 They can help you build strength and work on form as you are working up to barbell squats. They really help you keep your focus on keeping your weight in your heels, getting a little deeper, and the bands help keep those knees from caving in and the glutes engaged the whole time.
You can use a rope attachment or a straight bar. Go pretty heavy on the weight since it is countering your body weight as you lean back (but you aren’t squatting that weight) Keep your arms straight throughout. 😊
Alphabet paint stamping. It’s so fun to bring out some of the activities that I did in my preschool classroom now that Dawson is old enough to enjoy doing them!
Throwing it back to my first and only marathon! Chicago was such an amazing experience! I loved every moment of it. Could I have trained better? Yes! Do I know that my body is capable of doing better? Yes! Am I proud of how I didt! Hell Yeah!!!! And when I’m ready to put more time and heart into it, I’ll definitely do another one. But for now I’m enjoying just getting out the door, not thinking about pace, putting one foot infront of the other and running with my heart.
Thursday 5K ✅
Took the hilly route today and it felt grrrrreat! I totally felt like Rocky as I conquered those hills 💪🏻🏃♀️I did stop to see this beauty though - swipe to see her!!! Guys, I’ve only been trying for forever (it feels like) to get to this point of consistently running (nonstop) for 4 miles - I can only think #LIFT4
has played a part in this 🙌🏻💃🏼 People, if your looking for a regimen that’s quick and only 4 days a week you must give LIFT4 (lifting + HIIT) a try!!! #beachbody #motherrunner #trailrunning #lifting #motivation #crushinggoals
Yesterday after my run I put my phone on a timer to get a cool Instagram pic! The lady on the left, my neighbor was watching. She came up to me and challenged me to a foot race in our parking lot! She told me that she used to run track and wants to start working out again! I gave her a few tips! @coeursports #momstrong #motherrunner #courageteam18 #heartandcourage
Who is gearing up for a Turkey Trot next week? This shirt sums up the Buffalo Turkey Trot. Link in bio.
Thursday’s are one of my favorite days.....sleep in day! Extra sleep means extra effort! Pushed myself to give a bit more than I thought I had in me. Always feels good to surprise yourself with what you are capable of. Interval run done followed by some strength and yoga. Now time to relax and stay warm. Going to make a vegan chili for dinner with some corn bread. I hate winter but I love the cozy food!! #intervalrun #veganchilli #chefchloe
“Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him” (Isaiah 64:4). Are you facing a challenging situation? Seek God’s face, stand firm in His truth, and wait for Him to move on your behalf.” My mom sent me this devotion and Scripture the other day. It’s been a long week, but I managed to run three miles with hills at 9:25 pace! I tried to take a selfie, but I look so tired! 😴 Just the big, red, fuzzy hair will have to do. I hope y’all have a great Thursday! Excited to watch my girl play soccer tonight! 🙌🏻 #runnerscommunity #fitmom #inspiringwomenrunners #runforGod #prayforCayne #motherrunner #hills #runhappy #staystrong #redhair #runtoinspire #womensrunningcommunity
Hello running endorphins! I’m going to need these today. After two full days in school for AEW, the kids have a snow day today ❄️! These 5 miles of me time this morning was so necessary. I’ll be back at school tomorrow for my last visit in the classroom! I’ve been really productive this morning since I was up and out early! Submitted for several jobs 📸 🎥 🎬 and now I’m ready to hit mom mode 💯. Thankful for this running high that’s setting the positive mood for today! #thankfulthursday #slayyourday #runhappy #runlikeamother
How was I able to rapidly recover from my severely sprained ankle where I was told I had lots of soft tissue damage and able to complete Ironman Waco AND Disney 10K and Half challenge in less than 2 weeks?! I think I owe credit to this right here. Sunday Oct 21 is when the freak accident happened. I found this product on Wednesday and immediately started the max dosage. And by Sunday Oct 28, I was an IM Waco 69.1 finisher. Then I hopped on a plane to Disney and completed their challenge Nov 3 & 4. Y’all I could not walk! Wednesday was a painful hobble fest and come Friday there was hope! I truly believe this played a huge role and I’m so grateful I was told about it. Thank you @hammernutrition
for making an amazing product. If anyone is looking for help with an injury, I definitely recommend this.
Aaaaahhhh yea....oh gym time, I have missed you. 💪🏋️♀️💪
This round of whole30 has found me eating lots of meals on the floor entertaining kids, or nursing a baby! It’s been teaching me a lot and really testing my ability to avoid temptation! I’ve really been missing running and having that outlet, but last night my dear friend @runofthemillmama
reminded me that God is using this season to remind me to rely on and lean into him instead of running! He should always be the one that I turn to not any material thing, or any activity! He is the only thing that will ever truly fill me up! So I guess this whole30 is teaching me way more than I anticipated! And I’m so glad that @runofthemillmama
is such a great support system as we navigate this round together!! I’m forever grateful for her friendship! ❤️ #motherrunner #runnernotrunning #whole30runner #whole30approved
3yrs ago I ran my first race as an adult. I could have picked a 5k, but I picked a 10k to really challenge myself. I had just had a baby 8 months before and I wasn’t able to run for a full minute at a time when I started training. I felt like a total badass when I crossed that finish line and was hooked. I love running for so many more reason than just weight loss (which is a huge bonus). I love making a goal and training to accomplish that goal. I love how strong I feel when I can run for long periods of time. I love how it helps with my stress and anxiety. I love the runners high afterward. I love being better than I was before. Fast forward to now and I am training for my 3rd marathon. I’m heavier and slower than I have been in the past, but I’m out there again. I’ve admitted to struggling with motivation and weight gain, but I’ve never lost my love for running. #irunthisbody #backatit #fitfam #lifehappens #fitnessjourney #healthylifestyle #running #runningmotivation #momoftwo #motherrunner #thisis30 #getoffyourass #iruntoburnoffthecrazy

Didn't pack what was on my meal plan for today. Woke up late, was too tired last night for meal prep plus was not in a good mood 🙈 but I made sure what I packed was nutritious enough.
🛎Breakfast was milk because my LO woke up before me and once he wakes up ehn, na food next else he would cry the house down 😁 .
🛎Fast forward to later, I made @tombrownplus
multigrain & legume sharp sharp added milk and @smileonfoods
date syrup, poured in his feeding bottle and packed, this wud serve as his mid breakfast.
🛎 while making the multigrain, I was also making the beef puree, I know I haven't shared recipe for this before but I was rushing and couldn't get a good picture, so until I get a good enough picture, before I'd share recipe. Packed that for Lunch.
🛎 Snack is youghurt. For those that asked before, I always use Gerber's. But if you want a cheaper option and the light in your area is good, you can make or buy greek yoghurt and blend with fruits of your choice.
I have so much to share soon, from tips to make cooking for your LO stressfree to apps to help you generally as a busy mum. Pls turn on post notification and tag a mum.

Just some easy treadmill miles because we are having freezing rain. My next run will be in Philly to shake it out before the race!! I wanted to use this post to say THANK YOU! Thank you for your endless support and inspiration! This running community is truly amazing. And I am so thankful for SO MANY of you who take the time to support me. I truly believe it has helped me become a better runner. I know that I have the biggest cheering squad rooting for me on Sunday and I will draw so much strength from that. I am SO PUMPED to cross that finish line! #phillymarathon #chasingboston
Love getting to see views like this in my neighborhood. The ponds are slowly starting to ice over. I’m looking forward to eventually seeing the ice fishermen out on the larger pond. .
Set out to run 4 miles and ended up doing a little over 5. It actually felt really good being out in the cold but now for a hot cup of coffee to warm up before E gets home from school.
Working on core and balance today had me thinking about the little things in life.
As a runner I’ve built up major muscle groups to be so strong to help carry me for miles.
But the injuries or tweaks usually happen in the stabilizing muscles, the little ones that are often overlooked, but when they tweak-everything gets thrown off.
In my life, if I don’t continue to work on those stabilizing habits, however small they may seem (prayer, scripture study, meditation, etc) if one gets neglected, it throws everything off.
At the same time, thank goodness for physical and spiritual therapy and a plan and process to work back to being healthy if we do find ourselves sore and hurting in some areas.
This life is a long race, heaven is the finish line and working ALL our muscles will keep us moving forward with as minimal injuries as possible. 💪🏻
Back at it! I have not been motivated to run. Winter hit right after my marathon. I was going to take a few weeks to recover. Then it was so cold and snowy I just did not feel like dragging myself out of bed at 5 to go outside. Then the last week I found I just did not really want to get out of bed at all!! Not good!! So, I made the decision to suck it up and make it happen. It was warmer today (11 degrees with the windchill)😊. I feel so much better!! #irunthisbody #runnersofinstagram #winterrunning #coloradorunner #run4prs #frisco #breckenridge #summitcounty #motherrunner
Prior to kids I spent a lot of my time working out. My high school and college years were spent playing basketball and running cross country and track. After college I continued to consistently run and attended Ryan’s class for strengthening.
Fast forward to having my first baby and EVERYTHING changed. I wasn’t able to run throughout my pregnancy and struggled to make my usual class (Ryan’s boot camp) because of my new work schedule. At this time I didn’t even know online training existed, ha! When Hank was born I expected to lace up my running shoes and head out the door for an easy jog the minute my Dr released me. Honestly, that first postpartum run was the most painful run I had ever been on and it lasted all of 30 seconds! My knees and hips were killing me! I had never had any type of pain before and now all of a sudden I couldn’t run 1 block!
I struggled. Running had always been my way of dealing with stress, staying healthy, etc... I knew the pain was because I was so weak from being preggo for 9 months. I started trying different online training programs to get stronger. I found myself getting bored easily and also annoyed. Don’t get me wrong, I know there are a lot of great programs out there, but there are ALOT of sketchy ones too! There is a science to writing exercise programs and if written poorly they can lead to injury and/or less than optimal results, and no one has time for that!
Frustrated that I hadn’t found the right fit, I had Ryan text me the workouts he was making for his class so I could modify them and do them at home.
Eventually, we kicked off our first #jointhefitcollective
summer challenge, I was HOOKED!
My favorite things about this program are:
1. Simplicity: I want to login and click the workout and get it done.
2. Short, but highly effective. All workouts are around 30 minutes long and I am dripping sweat after EVERY. SINGLE. ONE!
3. Minimal equipment and can be completed anywhere. I have done these workouts everywhere from camping trips to hotel rooms!
4. Workouts are never the same, so I don’t get bored!! Finally!!

🏃🏽♀️🏅 Throw back to just five days ago when I did something I have never desired or imagined I would do.
I enjoy running and races because of the friends and community that come together. I have run several half marathons in my lifetime and at mile 13 I have ALWAYS thought, “Man! I am so thankful I don’t have to Double this!” I have never given a full marathon a second thought.
So I am still on a #marathonhigh
that I did it! This week has been full of emotions as I continue to relive last weekend’s race. Part of me can’t believe I actually did it. And part of me can’t wait to do it again....yep, you read that. 😉
So here’s me...continuing to post about my first full because....well, because I effing did it!!! 🏃🏽♀️🙌🏼🏅

Post-rain hot & humid easy miles this morning w/boo. Excited that we’ve got a cold front coming in this weekend though and my run on Saturday morning will be in the upper 40’s/low 50’s!! Yay for that🙌🏻Gotta pull out the cold weather gear that rarely gets used!!🥶That Florida life. I get to use the heat this weekend🥰while Christmas decorating!
Also, wanted to give a shoutout to the Strong Finish athletes that raced over the weekend. Jillian ran the Richmond, VA marathon (her 5th) in 3:37! And while this wasn't her fastest time (although a great time!), I am always proud of this girl and she knows it! Lindsay met her sub 30 min 5k goal and she's hungry for more! Chelsea placed 3rd in her age group at her 5 miler in Boston! Hillary ran a 2+ min course PR at the Syracuse half on Sunday running a 1:38 with 410 ft elevation gain, snow & wind ending her fall 2018 racing season on a high note after having a foot injury earlier this year, came back and earned both 10k and half marathon PR's this year! Onto planning her spring season now!💕💕💕
Fought for every mile of that run. Missed more splits than I hit. Am I disappointed? Yes. Did I want a big confidence boost heading into my race? Yes. But do I also know that one run isn’t going to make me or break me? Yes. Except that I’ve failed every workout this week 🤔. Good thing success is built on failure! 10 miles, 8:13 pace.
This past weekend I ran my only half of the year. I had taken a little bit of a break from running - but this training cycle I really feel like I became passionate about running again (last year I got totally burned out - who can relate?) I went into this slightly undertrained and wasn’t sure what would happen. I knew that I would get to the finish line though. Finish strong was my mantra during this one! And that I did! It always feels good when you level up!! #levelup #hertribeathletics #halfmarathon
Wednesday’s mantra during my run: I love my machine (aka body). It’s been 3+ weeks since I’ve gone on a run or have maintained any consistency in my health and wellness (oh shadow side, I love you and embrace you). I fell into a slump of loneliness, questioning myself, rebelling against all the good that I have chosen for my life, and allowed myself too much of the food I know doesn’t make me feel good (but satisfies my tastebuds fully!) Sometimes I get frustrated that my system is hypersensitive but then also prone to overdoing it with not enough moderation, so I’m still working on balance❤️ I’m realizing even more now that life is a continuous series of feeling good, feeling not-so-good, being on your “A” game and then just as quickly slipping from that high place. We can recognize how much we’ve grown, changed and evolved by how long it takes us to get back to the place where we feel our best most consistently. Much of that is checking the dialogue that streams in my head throughout the day. I hadn’t been very nice to myself either, so positive affirmations have been helping tremendously! Let’s face it, being a human is fucking hard. I’ll be writing more on the blog 🤗.
