I have struggled for a long time with letting go of things. I have an attachment and struggle to part with things, a problem that manifested when I was younger, constantly moving, and had to part with most of my things, to a point where I lived out of a duffel bag and a garbage bag. I wasn't happy, but that was life at the time.
Since finding stability, I hold on to a lot of things needlessly. Whether it's something that I haven't worn in years, or something so beat up and basically worn away, it's always a struggle for me to part with things.
This bag, pictured here, was an enormous step for me. I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but this is the most I have gotten rid of in a very long time. Tomorrow, this bag will be dropped off at a resale shop, where it will be sold off, and the profits donated to a local shelter which assists victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
It was a long and emotional process, but I have a bit of contentment, knowing I've gotten rid of some clutter, and knowing that the outcome will help someone in need, even if only a little bit.
