It looks like my goal of staying in a fire lookout will finally be met this summer. I was accepted as a Green Mountain Lookout Steward. I will get to learn about the history of the lookout, watch for fires, educate hikers, assist in any emergencies and enjoy a couple nights at 6,500 feet.

Collecting algae samples from Bellingham Bay with my Macrophyte Ecology buds. We lowered the ctv into the bay to collect algae and monitor abiotic variants at different depths. Our samples will be fixed and stored for future DNA analysis by the pros after we do our thing again next week.
Dr. Robin Kodner has been collecting algae from this site for 3 or 4 years I believe. She teaches this amazing class. Wish it was my job to be out there every day!
