THE TRUTH ABOUT PROTEIN ABSORPTION by @jmaxfitness - It's a myth that your body can only absorb 20-40g of protein per meal. - If this were true, everyone who ate more than 40g of protein in a meal would be walking around with diarrhea. - Research shows that what matters most is hitting your total protein requirements for the day. My Off-Season Strategy To Develop My Upper Body To Match My Legs - My upper body has always lagged behind my legs in terms of muscle development, primarily due to the fact I didn't perform much upper body work until I was in my 20’s, where I simply wasn’t eating enough day to day to fuel muscle growth. - So the plan from here is to be eating in a caloric surplus most of the time. - I’ll be hitting upper body 4x a week and legs once. This high frequency of upper body should allow more growth by stimulating muscle building frequently, providing recovery is there. - Mind muscle connection will be key. For example, if performing chest press, making sure my pec actually fires first to initiate the movement rather than driving w shoulders. Always making sure the target muscle fires first. - I only use exercises that are joint friendly for my body. For example I’ll use Db floor presses instead of bench presses as they allow me to stay within a range of motion I can access pain-free. Plus I can activate my pec off the bottom of a floor press. (The bottom of a bench press for me is pure shoulders no matter how hard I try to ‘feel’ my chest.) I will try to apply constant tension to every rep as taught to me by my bro @buttermancan . I have found that although rapid acceleration can develop explosive strength, exploding up often means you get a sneaky rest from muscular tension in the middle to top portion of the rep. Therefore I will try my best to lift at a constant speed to maximize muscular tension and hence fuel new growth. - My training will be split into 5-week blocks with deloads every 5th week for recovery. - I’ll increase calories as required to keep the gains coming. - Also last thing. I am giving myself the gift of time. 4 years I have decided for this offseason to truly make the muscular gains I know I am capable of. It’s conditioning week!! I really struggled mentally tonight. I had a super boring day at work and I just couldn’t get my head in the game. I thought we were doing 5 rounds of each and it just messed with my pace. Anyway, tomorrow is another day and I hope the week will get better from here! . . . An exciting side note! Chwat meal czy aby na pewno dla każdego ?! Nie ! Sama musiałam chyba dorosnąć do momentu w którym rozumiem czemu to ma służyć. Dlaczego uważam, że większość osób takiego posiłku nie powinna mieć. Nasz kochany „fit” świat bardzo namieszał (głównie młodym osobom) w głowach. Zaburzenia odżywiania są teraz na porządku dziennym a kompulsywne objadanie się wydaje się już w mojej pracy codziennością. Wiem, bo sama przez to przechodziłam. Jedzenie zaczyna rządzić głową, staje się czymś „nad”, czym nigdy nie powinno być. Taki posiłek w momencie gdy mamy zaburzenia to będzie lawina, którą ciężko będzie zatrzymać. Mi się udało, dorosłam, zmądrzałam, a jedzenie przestało rządzić moja głową. Incline Chest Plate Finisher💯💯 Used this chest variation workout as a finisher using an incline bench and a weighted plate. This is awesome way to really hit the inner and middle chest to build a big top shelf to the chest which a lot of people have a hard time growing. Make sure to use slow, controlled reps with a weight you can handle, get a good squeeze at the top of the movement. As you lift the plate up, push in with your hands for added tension on the chest. Go to failure!! My hair hasn’t been washed since Sunday, and I’m humid as anything, but I decided to post this picture as it’s the first picture in yearsssss where I can see the gym and my daily 13 mile bike rides are paying off. My legs are looking hella toned💪🏻 This has motivated me to go even harder at the gym when I’m hom, and start seeing even more results😍 Next year when I go on my next adventure I want to be 100% body confident🙌🏻
