I couldn’t brook neutral nails on a stormy day, so I switched to @SallyHansen
’s Hard as Nails in “Limestone.” Which I’ve renamed “Ectoplasm” to be more festive for Halloween. 👻 Base + 2 coats + Top
Although I have an abiding curiosity concerning all things supernatural, I cannot watch scary movies. Or, rather, I watch them and then pay dearly for weeks (*ahem* months) after. Even the Disney Channel’s “Mister Boogedy” would scare me as a wee one, and my parents would awaken to find me cuddled up on their floor with our cocker spaniel. Again and again.
I remember when my dad first introduced me to The Ghostbusters, for which I have an abiding love. Because my mom was working a late shift at the hospital, he permitted me to stay up and watch it—provided I didn’t get scared (or tell my mom, I think). He explained that there were ghosts but these weren’t scary ghosts, that none of it was real. He explained, too, that this was supposed to be funny, not frightening, because it was a comedy.
Welp, this logical discussion of genre worked for me! I watched it, laughed, and slept like a rock. Even as an adult, I stick with that film (or the new one too!) and, say, Hocus Pocus, when Halloween rolls around. What are your favorites?
