This is a throwback to May 29, 2011…one of the best trails in Utah that I was blessed to hike with my brother, his buddy Sean, and my husband. We got started at 7 a.m. after driving 80 miles to the trail head. 11.2 amazing miles…some strenuous, some in deep sand, some with shady breaks in narrow ravines. Our day unraveled, scrambling up boulders to a skyline lined with sandstone pinnacles, slowly making our way to a wide open grassy basin, so rare in this part of Utah. Winding canyons led us to tight slots, all to be rewarded with views of The Needles…To think it was only a small taste of this amazing land. A day I know changed one life and found Abbey for another.
I must admit, I wasn’t convinced that there would be enough to do at Zion to warrant a 3 day stop off. How wrong was I - this place had many different hikes, all offering different viewpoints of what was an extremely vast National Park, oozing beauty, tranquility and nature. The outdoors is my happy place, what’s yours ?
Photographs won’t do places like this much justice, but here’s to trying to share a snippet of what we experienced on this trip. If you haven’t been to Utah / Arizona to see the national parks, make it your next trip! This place was absolutely stunning.
