This is a photo from my early morning start on a hike to St. Mary Falls in Glacier National Park. It was dark, cloudy, and lightly raining, but as a few other photos of posted show, was well worth the trip. The colorful ground amidst the burned trees was a highlight for sure.
Mesa Arch, Canyonlands. How amazing are these views!?! There’s just something about the desert that’s calming. #canyonlands #nationalparkgeeks #nationalparkgeek #usparks #leavenotrace #mesaarch #moab #utah #desertviews #hikingutah #hikingfun #outdoorlife #travelphotography #travelfun
Can you spot the Ahwahnee? And no, I will never call it the Yosemite Majestic, or whatever the hell we're supposed to be calling it now. 🤬 #caliexplored #girlswhohike #sheexplores #see_them_all
💭🌞thinking back to warmer days. it's hard to stay positive when it's always dark, raining, and cold. But that's why it's important to nourish my body/mind with things that I find fulfilling and to switch perspective.
Do you like stopping for scenic overlooks? ⠀ ⠀ I do most of the time. It also depends where I am. I always want to stop at the places that don't have anywhere to pull over.
Would it be considered cheating if Chapter 29 is just pictures like this? #twolanegems #montanamoment
Coming back to town for good!! Happy moving day @christosalexis 🏡
Standing atop these canyons is kind of surreal. I feel small every day because I’m short, but walking along these canyon walls makes you feel insignificantly small in this world. But anyhoo, who’s ready for thanksgiving??? . . . #nps100 #nps #nationalparkgeek #goparks #exploreutah #utahisrad #utahgram #findyourpark #beutahful #mountainlife #getoutside #theoutbound #choosemountains #keepitwild #adventureculture #exploremore #stayandwander #mountaingirls #welivetoexplore #getoutdoors #outdoorwomen #travelstoke #zionnationalpark #idhikethat #hikerslist #radgirlscollective #sheadventures #dametraveler #mytinyatlas #womenwhoexplore

So I just noticed that this account, which I started earlier this year, now has more followers than my personal account ( @rlngstrt ) which was started way back in early 2011. What’s the bluest sky you’ve ever seen? . A few months ago, Tiff and I spent some time in southern Utah, including Zion National Park. As a native of Wyoming, I was pretty sure I would never find a place with bluer skies than my home state. That being said, Utah comes pretty close. . Since I’m color blind, I don’t quite see the world the same as everyone else. “How can you see blue in the sky if you’re color blind?” you might be asking. I’m sure that whatever I see isn’t as vibrant as what others see. But even I can tell that southern Utah is quite unique.
Did you know you could live inside a fallen seqouia tree if you wanted to? Two men lived in this one 150 years ago. You realize the sheer volume of a seqouia when you can walk through one. #fallenmonarch #grantsgrove #kingscanyon #nationalparkgeek #findyourpark
@just_reynar SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — In keeping with the Administration’s goal of promoting American energy independence, the Bureau of Land Management proposes to offer 156 parcels, totaling nearly 217,519 acres in lands managed by the Canyon Country, Green River, and West Desert Districts at its March 26, 2019 quarterly oil and gas lease sale.  This notice initiates a public comment period on associated environmental documents that ends on December 17, 2018.  The BLM will hold the lease sale online at www.energynet.com. This sale includes 116 parcels removed from the December 2018 quarterly sale in order to comply with the U.S. District Court, District of Idaho issued a Preliminary Injunction  in W. Watersheds Project v. BLM (No. 1:18-cv-00187-REB), which required lengthier comment periods on environmental compliance documents associated with parcels that intersect Priority or General Habitat Management Areas for Greater Sage-Grouse.Comments on the environmental assessment (EA) and Determination of NEPA Adequacy (DNA) must be submitted in writing to the BLM Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City, UT 84101 or faxed to Sheri Wysong at (801) 539-4237.  Links to the environmental documents, lists and maps of the parcels, and attached stipulations are online at http://go.usa.gov/xPfnq #utahgram #publiclands #conservation #takeaction #istandwithnationalparks #protecourparks #moneytrumpsnature #nationalparkgeek #goparks #ig_bestshotz #natureaddicts #waterfallsfordays #rivers #cleanwater #geologyrocks #color_of_day #utahparks #yourvoicematters #writeletters #handsofftrump
I hiked in the fresh snow in the pre-dawn subfreezing temps in pursuit of a shot of this place in its winter regalia at sunrise. I arrived and it was socked in, the sunrise was beautiful but the Tetons were obscured. Then my wide angle lens malfunctioned and I couldn’t even shoot the sunrise. The only other lens I brought in my pack was a 100-400mm zoom which was just too close for this landscape. Then I ran into three grizzlies. Needless to say, the morning did not go as planned. After the bears left, the clouds began to clear and I snapped this shot on my iPhone. In some ways I love it more than the “better” shots taken with my camera. Here’s to the adventure! 😂✌️

I love nature, I love the landscape, because it is so sincere. It never cheats me. It never jests. It is cheerfully, musically earnest. Anyone else snap a pic when they see something they love and then recreate it to make it their own? I do often. Some may argue that I’m not being original but I disagree. I’m being inspired and as result, propelled into my own creative process. An artist or photographer sees a beautiful mountain and then paints or photographs it-in a way no one else has ever done before. When entering my home, you’ll find all sorts of unique creations everywhere you look, many of which were exist now because of something I saw and fell in love with. 🎨 It’s said that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” and while it’s perfectly normal and human to emulate someone or something, it’s even more important to be uniquely you. We are all different, flawed and beautiful and it’s important that we remember that every single one of us, even our heroes, has struggles and challenges. ✨ Thanks to insta, I’ve found many interesting folks over the last few weeks and have been particularly intrigued by @emilyventures. Like me, she travels solo, hopes to visit every national park in the country, and is a teacher. (She also takes some great photos and writes with both a wisdom and sincerity I really enjoy.) 📝 But there’s one really awesome thing Emily has that I don’t: a funky daypack adorned with patches and pins from her travels. So after hemming and hawing for a few weeks, this minimalist finally caved and ordered some goodies to adorn my own pack with! 🎒 I’ve only made it to 28 U.S. parks so far (while homegirl has been to 44!!) but life isn’t a contest. Do you. Journey at your own pace. Live in a mansion or in a van. Get excited that you own a Gucci belt or a $3 super cozy thrift-store flannel. But know that it’s fine to admire aspects of another person’s life. It’s a good way of figuring out what excites you and makes you happy. Just be sure to pave your own (grassy, pebbly, muddy, rocky, sandy) path along the way. 👣
Spying on an Owl | Acadia National Park. I'm really looking forward to searching for these owls again once I get back to Maine after Thanksgiving. Even though watching them can be really cold and boring since they don't usually do much during the day, how can you not enjoy being able to spend an afternoon hanging out with snowy owls? One of my photography bucket list items is to visit snowy owls on their breeding grounds, so if anyone has a tundra project that needs a photographer, I'd love to join you! . . Prints available! Seriously, this place is heaven for photographers. I feel such a deep connection with trees. Seeing the Redwoods was on the top of my bucket list for a very long time. Experiencing them with my childhood friend in the midst of a rain shower was a dream come true. Forever a fan of forest bathing!! 🌲🌲🌲🌲#nationalparkgeek #treehugger
#Repost from @kellyephotography with @regram.app ... Was definitely a memorable weekend. When you plan a weekend in the Smokey Mountains, renting a beautiful cabin you have the expectation it comes with the normal: electric, heat, water. Our cabin was perfect just missing one thing: no water. I guess the well dried up. Couldn’t switch cabins, completely booked up, busy season so we made the best of what we could and had a wonderful time together and made memories. Kids still had fun! This sunset was epic at Clingmans Dome.... #shetravels #sheexplores #itravel #tennessee #clingmansdome #smokeymountainsnationalpark #smokeymountains #nationalparkgeek

Giving a presentation to one of my classes today about the importance of the Great Smokies. Not only are they beautiful, these mountains protect an abundance of life. Over 19,000 species of animals, plants, fungi, other organisms. Oh yeah, and US! What a great place this is, y’all. Headed to Washington D.C. after class for 🦃 day. Oh, you bet I’m bringing my camera. • • #neverstopexploring #eastcoastcreatives #visualart #southernstatesco #scenicnc #amongthewild #wildernessculture #wilderness #blueridgemountains #ashevilletrails #atlantatrails #explorecarolina #scenicnc #scenicstates #folkscenery #findyourpark #onlyinnorthcarolina #discover_carolinas #nationalparkgeek #wnc #nationalgeographic #nationalparkservice #canonphotography #canonusa #iamatraveler #lovencsmokies #carolinacollectives
