To me, it’s irrelevant how we age over a decade if our mindset never really shifted. Without the shift, nothing else is long-term nor will it ever hold much value. I’d rather ask, how much of what I learned in that time frame did I actually apply?
If it pushed me anywhere but forward, how fast did I change it? And will I repeat this pattern the next 10 years?
Was I selfish or selfless?
Am I still moving forward or have I become complacent?
Is this “MY” personal best in life or have I not placed myself in another arena of challenge?
Time flies, 10 years from now I’ll be approaching 40. It’s not how much better we look that’s worth comparing but whether or not our experiences helped us develop a sense of urgency in EVERYTHING else we set out to do.
Who knew white kidney beans existed? 🤔 This plane Jane meal actually tasted amazing. I love cabbage with just salt and apple cider vinegar. I love salt & vinegar anything really. The meat is leftover smoked pulled pork reheated in a pan, which made some bits nice and crispy. #lunner
I am so grateful I took that first step. I am never going back, the journey is worth it.

One of my 2019 goals is to be able to do a full pull-up. Today was day 1 to get to that goal.
We’ve been looking for a new fish for months. We fell in love with Swai & then poof be gone! They stop selling it Maybe it was seasonal🤷🏽♀️ all I kno is we were grilling it, searing it, baking it, you name it. We ate lots of salmon, whiting, even tried flounder. Wasn’t a fan🧐 but this fish here 🐠💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 I’m in love😍
Are you setting safe goals✅ for yourself or dreaming big🏆? If you don’t push yourself out of that comfort zone, you’ll never know what you are really capable of
One thing I struggle with is setting the bar higher. I am so grateful for all of the things I have created in my life
I love my job👩🏽🔬, I am blessed to work with talented amazing scientists and I am working towards a cure for CF
I am also so grateful for all of the women I get to work with and lead on their fitness journey🏋🏾♀️ Because truly, we can’t accomplish great things when our bodies are at 50% of what the are capable of
We can’t stretch if we are barely keeping it together right?? So what’s next for me this year? Well I didn’t finish my goal setting last year
And as I sit here and think about what is next, I find myself playing small, selecting things I know I can do, because the things that would really stretch me— scare me

Realised earlier that i haven’t posted any meal pics or mentioned anything about what i’ve eaten so tonight i had this lovely contraption of roast potatoes (syn free) and casserole, which is also syn free!!! I’m on a roll I’m telling ya! Breakfast i skipped and lunch i caved in and had a flap jack, so on second thoughts I’m not ‘rolling’ as good as i thought but overall this week ( starting last Thursday ) I’m doing good. Is it okay to feel good on a Monday? Asking for a friend...

Looking at before pictures is really hard. It's hard knowing that I let myself get that big & it's still embarrassing even though I'm not that girl anymore. Every day I wake up, I make conscious decisions that help me stay on the right track & I make a bigger difference in who I was vs who I am now. Some days I falter. I just have to remind myself that I've already done so much & I'm never going back again. I'm almost at the halfway mark & most days I still feel a lot better about myself. That feeling is worth every minute I spend making myself the best version possible. I can't wait until I've met my goal ❤

Another scrumptious, easy, 1-pan, 10-minute dinner. Sliced and chopped an onion and sautéed it in butter until it was starting to brown, then added some ground turkey and let that brown, too. Next came some tomato sauce, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, a pinch of cayenne and of course, some smoked paprika, then I let it all summer a little. Dumped that on top of some “zoodles” and added enough cheese that I won’t be pooping until Thursday. What can I say? The heart wants what the heart wants.
Hot tip: if you don’t like soggy zoodles, don’t cook them! I sprinkle mine with salt and let them sit for a few minutes to draw out extra water, then rinse and drain, pressing out as much moisture as possible. The ambient heat from the sauce warms them up but doesn’t actually cook them, so they don’t turn into snot. And yay for not eating boogers. Anymore. Come on! I was just a kid! 🤦🏻♀️
My big sister opened a barre studio in October of last year. Obviously this isn’t something she did for me, it conveniently it’s less than a mile from my home.
It was a big venture for her. I know it’s been hectic and stressful at times. But I wonder if she knows exactly how much of an inspiration she’s been to me.
Not only with regard to fitness but just at the willingness to dare to dream of a different life.
We all know that fitness journeys begin with a dream. But when you spend your life heavy it is hard to conceive of a world where you are not. It’s intimidating. Sometimes it felt like being the frumpy girl was my place in the world. Not as a negative- it was like I was type casting myself as big, kind and funny- not sassy, not sexy, never a threat.
Now I’m still not much of a threat - but I feel sassy, beautiful, still funny, still kind- now I’m allowing myself to imagine a world where I am whoever I chose to be. Whoever I am.
And I’m grateful for the inspiration my sister provided to me- to dare to dream big- without judgement - with risk of failure. And also for giving me a place to workout;) #burnbabyburn #barreforte
