Do you want to create more meaningful actions every day?
It’s easy to get caught up in our own busy schedules without a mindful awareness of any particular situation. So how can we connect, appreciate, and truly experience life with those around us?
, we’re sharing some tips from Mindful magazine on how we can generate meaningful actions every day of the week.
STEP 1 – Think about someone else’s pain and how you may be able to help. When we go through difficult times, it can feel like everyone else just carries on with their day while your world has been flipped. However, when we’re having good days ourselves, we can be oblivious to someone else that may be struggling. How can you help that someone today?
STEP 2 – Pause before you reply in a conversation. It is important to be a mindful listener. This means truly listening to what the other person is saying instead of thinking of how you will reply.
STEP 3 – Stop and tune in to the environment around you. On your lunch break, or when you’re out for your evening walk, take a second to pause and listen. What do you hear? What do you feel? What do you see? Practice being fully present in the moment.
STEP 4 – Check in with someone you may not have talked to in a while. All relationships we want to keep need tending. Sometimes, it is good to also look outside of your immediate social circle. Try making a list of people you’d like to stay in touch with. Then, each week, choose one person and connect with them – send them an e-mail, give them a call, or visit them in person. This thoughtful action may help to brighten their day.

Earthing Benefits by @amnacademy
👉Share this with someone who hasn't yet discovered the amazing benefits of Earthing!
👉The surface of the earth is electrically conductive, possessing a continuously renewed and limitless supply of free electrons. It has a negative potential maintained by the global atmospheric electrical circuit
👉To grab these electrons, we need to have our skin in contact with the ground. It’s true that we haven’t remained barefoot throughout history, but we have worn animal skins and then leather-soled shoes right up until the late 1800’s.
👉Unfortunately, we then developed rubber-soled shoes and most of us are now constantly insulated from the electricity of the earth, walking around on air bubbles. We need to make an effort to get in contact with the earth now.
👉We recommend getting at least 30 minutes contact between skin and earth each day. Barefoot contact with the grass around the roots of a tree is best. Also consider a method of grounding the body through earthing technology widely available online
👉Research papers are easily searchable online, or just check this one out https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4378297/
Sleep is one of the most important nutrients we often under-prioritize. Our immune and detoxification systems wait until we are sleeping before they do their heavy lifting, and our cells cleanse and reset while we sleep. So even if it’s on a chairlift 40 feet above ground, make sure to get the sleep you need!! #nutrition #eatclean #foodnotpharma #naturopath #health #guthealth

What toxin to look out for in your body wash!
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a widely used and inexpensive chemical found in mainstream hygiene products and would most definitely be found in your shampoo and body wash (go on have a look at your ingredient list).
You need to cut it out of your life because
✄it’s a known skin irritant which can cause eczema, dandruff, rashes and dermatitis⠀
✄It is a toxin to our waterways and is harming our aquatic animals ⠀
✄It is an approved pesticide for organic farming⠀
✄It is found in garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers and car wash soaps for its corrosive properties
✄It penetrates the skin to get into your body faster along with other chemicals

WORKING FROM HOME : Can be bliss, or distracting. Remember to take regular breaks which improves your ability keep focused when working. I love to keeps a bowl of nuts close to maintain steady energy levels and optimise brain function. And of course endless cups of herbal tea!
The Humble Egg |
First things first, in order to reap the benefits of consuming eggs it is imperative that you buy organic. “Free range” eggs are so corrupt due to the varying levels of what is considered “free range” and not only that, the hens are fed on grains which are usually GMO, as opposed to their natural varied diet. Here’s one example; eggs are a good source of vitamin D, however the hens get this vitamin from being out in the sunshine. Some “free range” egg companies keep their hens in giant undercover pens which completely drains the hens and eggs from this vitamin. Aside from this, hens that are “free range” are still subject to de-beaking practices amongst other unthinkable acts of cruelty. Buy organic eggs from happy hens & support farmers with a high moral standard, and you will gain the following nutritional benefits:
•Eggs are high in vitamin K, a potent anti and aging bone nourishing nutrient.
•They are also a great source of the B group vitamins which help our brain and nervous system function.
•Eggs are a great source of antioxidant selenium, which can be hard to come by in food sources.
•They are also high in vitamin D if the hens are allowed to bask in the sunshine, as nature intended.
•Eggs are a wonderful, quick and easy source of protein.
•They also contain our good fats, omega-3 providing the hens have been fed on a natural and varied diet and are living a happy and comfortable life.
Wallie and I both love eggs and if you are wondering, yes he got to eat this one.

- "✅Trevor Smith, 52 years, was told that he needed all 3 conventional cancer treatments: chemotherapy, radiation/surgery to remove his prostate, bladder and lymph nodes with life expectancy after the surgery to be 2 to 2.5 years.
✅His wife carol said “Our belief system does not have to be locked. We can open up our minds to think for ourselves, inform ourselves and learn to not just accept our ‘fate.’
His situation is still a cautionary tale not to blindly accept every treatment doctors prescribe without weighing all of your options first & making an informed decision.
✅Carol wrote the whole story of Trevor’s and hers journey to recovery in the book ‘Taking Control’.She wrote the book under pseudonym Alyssia Sade and called her husband Perry
✅Remember, everyone is different. There is no “ one size fits all treatment” to diseases such as cancer. This is not to bash conventional mainstream medicine because for some it is the only thing that has cured their cancer. Everyone responds differently to different treatment. Everyone has a right to make an informed choice to what suits their body and resonates with them. You are always in control. Never give your power away. Always inform yourself. Work with your health care providers & remember you are the best healer you have.
✅this post is intended to open the mind to see that there are other ways and avenues we can heal. The way one person heals will not necessarily heal another. We are all unique & different. Veggie shepherd's pie! This dish was so warming and delicious. Prime comfort food, but it uses more than one pot which is a big deal for me 😉
Here's the recipe; (if you want to do it with meat just swap lentils for grass fed beef mince - brown it with the onions - and use beef stock) - brown some a chopped onion and a chopped clove of garlic in olive oil with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- chop a swede, a carrot, 2 cups of portobello mushrooms, 3-4 sticks of celery and a leek into small cubes and add them to the pot and stir.
- pour over just enough veggie stock to cover 3-4 of the veggies and simmer for 15 minutes. Add a cup of frozen peas and a tin of rinsed organic brown lentils. - add a tablespoon of wostershire sauce, a tablespoon of dried thyme leaves, 1/2 a cup of red wine and simmer for 30 mins, stirring occasionally. While this is simmering, chop up and steam a medium sweet potato to mash for the top of the pie. Mash with butter and milk or mylk of your choice until light and fluffy. - preheat the oven to 180 degrees c. Once the veggies in the sauce are soft, thicken the sauce by gradually sifting in 1/2 cup of a flour of your choice while stirring.
- then transfer into a ceramic Croc pot, put the mashed sweet potato on top and roast until the potato looks golden brown (approx 15 mins).
Serves 5 and is a great source of protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals. Yum! #shepherdspie #comfortfood #nutrition #plantbased #winter #naturopath #yummy #sydneynaturopath

NEVER BEEN THE SAME SINCE GLANDULAR FEVER? HERE’S WHY.
There is a fatigue epidemic in Australia. More and more people are reporting feeling tired ALL the time and it shouldn’t be shrugged off or dismissed as just “being a bit tired” or “working too much”. There can be many different reasons why this can be the case- nutrient deficiencies, sleep problems, stress, hormonal imbalances, thyroid dysfunction- the list goes on.
Post viral fatigue is also a common reason for feeling tired all the time and refers to constant low energy after a viral infection.
Most of the viruses we contract are self-limiting meaning they will eventually be killed off by the immune system and cleared from the body. There is however a subset of viruses that can decide they would rather call your body home and establish a permanent infection that can remain underlying for months to years.
Chronic underlying infections often don’t have the obvious symptoms you might see in an acute infection but one of the biggest signs to look for is fatigue, particularly fatigue that started after an acute infection.... Read on- link in bio.
Replenish & rejuvenate in your own city post Stampede! But I mean, Greece - it is amazing.
I’m sure many of you depleted your body over the last 10 days (with 🍻,🥂🍷,🍸, continuous late nights, mini doughnuts, deep fried oreos, charcoal ice cream, & [insert any Stampede food here] ) leaving you feeling tired, sluggish & run down (maybe even sick). The solve? IV vitamin drips.
These IV drips can help by re-fueling your system with the antioxidants, vitamins, & minerals that your body may now be lacking (not to mention help heal your liver 👈🏻did you know that this is a thing?!?!). _______________________________________________________
Even if you didn’t party too hard over Stampede, IV vitamins can (do a bunch of amazing things for you):
•improve your energy levels
•help your body manage stress better
•speed recovery post-workout
•help you sleep better •balance your moods
•promote healthier looking skin (aka anti-aging)
• & help absorption especially if you have digestive issues
&, if you really don’t like taking supplements every day either, 1-2 IV drips per month can solve that too!
The great thing about IV vitamins is 100% of them are absorbed by the bloodstream & used right away, whereas oral supplementation has ~30% absorption rate through the digestive tract. What does this mean? IV vitamins can get you replenished & feeling great, quicker! Pair with healthy food, a bit more exercise than you did last week & your body will perk right up! _______________________________________________________
Book yours online (link in bio). All IV drips are 25% off for the rest of July! ✨
Guys I just had the biggest multitasking fail... I tired to meditate while breastfeeding 🙅
There was a moment when I was focusing on my breath and thinking "just stay in the moment Katie" Then the moment hit me in the face with a stuffed rabbit. 🐰😂
At the end of the @headspace
meditation I was "following" it asks you to take a minute to see how you are feeling after the meditation. And you know what? •
I was actually feeling pretty good 😊- like much better than I was before my highly interrupted half-meditation.
Sometimes we can convince ourselves that if we can do something 💯than it's not worth doing at all. But it's that kind of self-talk bullshit that keeps us from being great. We are so caught up in doing something perfectly that we forget it's ok to do it at all. •
I almost didn't find time today, but today I meditated. And that counts. Even if I got hit in the face by a stuffed rabbit 🐰
There is an energy throughout any forest. An old and wise feeling that slows you down and gives perspective. We are so small, in a grand sense. The awful things in life are there to help us grow, and annoying things that feel despairing like a broken shoe or a bad day at work won’t matter in 6 months time. What will matter is the vital part you play in the web of connections that makes up the universe. Your bad experiences won’t last, but the way you choose to move through the world and how you handle those experiences will shape your reality, and the reality of the global community. Know that you are innately supported and that bad feelings don’t have to last. Open yourself to joy and excitement and decide to live your life with your highest self as your guiding light. It isn’t easy, but that’s the part of the journey.
Some things I've been doing lately: ❤️Some freestyle movement - I just chuck on some of my favourite tunes dance it out, stretch it out. I'm noticing more creativity play in my life not only do I get more of things done I actually seem to flow through challenges (like creating my podcast) alot easier. ❤️ Been experimenting with 'waste not want not' pulp from my juices @naturopress
- adding the pulp to my oat balls recipe (on my blog) and also to my soaked oats! It adds flavour and a tonnes more fibre! I'm also excited to try my luck with making a veggie Pattie and some stock from the left overs! ❤️ In regards to my podcast, instead of being overwhelmed by all the things I've just been scheduling in a few hours each week to get things done and no matter how much resistance I have, I resist the urge to procrastinate and sit down at the allocated time and just aim to get ANYTHING done! I am so excited
To see it all unfold and start to really create shape - which also helps me maintain momentum in the process as well. ❓❓⁉️What things are you doing at the moment that is making you feel tip top? Or what could you change, swap or bring into your life that would start making you feel at your best? I truly believe that happiness and health come hand in hand. But the smallest things can make a difference - some free flow movement, extra fibre in your breakfast or taking baby steps towards a new creative project. You got this I know you do! If I can do it, you can too... It can't be that friggin hard right?!? #itcantbethatfrigginhard #podcast #ignite #poweruppodcasting #naturopath #naturopathy #holistichealth #freeflow #movement #babysteps #melbourne #australia #wastenotwantnot #health #juicing #naturopress
When dinner plan A doesn't work, the instant pot is there with dinner plan B. We got home later than expected from my nieces first birthday party yesterday, and the chicken was frozen solid. So instant pot dinner to the rescue. We decided to leave the chicken for another night and went with a coconut curry.
First, I sautéed a small onion and a clove of garlic. Next, I added in a jar of tomatoes. For spices I added 1 Tbsp turmeric, 1 tsp cumin and 1 tsp salt. Then I added a few dashes of chilli powder, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and pepper. Finally, I added 2 bay leaves. I would have added cinnamon but my son is allergic. To sweeten I added 1 Tbsp of maple syrup and 1 can of coconut milk. To give the curry some kick I added a 1/4 cup of white wine vinegar. I tasted the curry and adjusted a bit before adding in 4 chopped potatoes and a 1/2 of a half of a head of chopped cauliflower. I turned on the instant pot for 4 minutes on high. When it was finished I let it naturally release for 5 minutes. Once on keep warm I added a can of chickpeas and let them warm through. We served over brown rice and garnished with cilantro. It was delicious and from start to finish it took 1 hour. Hormones 101: Estrogen detox through your gut! This is post 14 of a big series so go back to “what is a hormone?” to see the beginning. 🤓
Your estrogen goes through phase 1, then gets water soluble in phase 2 then gets transported in phase 3 into your bile duct for your intestines to “dump” it out. 😂
In the bile, estrogens, other hormones and toxins are packaged up like a gift with a bow 🎁 to be safely removed by your intestines and out in your poop. This is called conjugation. 💩
Once in the intestines, an enzyme known as Beta-glucuronidase can activate and unpackage (untie the bow and open the lid) releasing hormones and toxins so that they get reabsorbed. 😱
Before you think it’s all bad, beta-glucuronidase does help with the reabsorption of certain nutrients and beneficial molecules. So, it’s a balance. ⚖️
Certain gut bacteria make more beta-glucuronidase and if they are out of balance or “over grown” due to poor dietary choices, antibiotics and other toxin/chemical exposures then you’ll have more beta-glucuronidase. 👎
What does this cause? Well, it will cause your estrogen to break free, run wild and get absorbed back into your body potentially causing estrogen dominance. 😾
What can you do? Clean up your gut! Eat fiber and fermented foods and veggies! Avoid bad fats and fried foods. Really think if you need more antibiotics. Take quality pre and probiotics. Get a stool test to see what’s growing down there🐛 and your beta-glucuronidase levels. Then consider the supplement Calcium-d-Glucarate to keep beta-glucuronidase in check. 👍
Obviously, talk with your functional health practitioner! Next we talk LOW estrogen! ♥️
