I love this photograph for so many reasons. Firstly, the soft morning light. The native bush. The sound of birdsong. The mesmerising puffs of steam colliding with cool air. The bottle of Frankincense which has granted me sanity over a particularly rough period this year.

As you can see, there are many hormones that are associated with your thyroid gland. Most MDs will order two tests when you present with hypothyroidism: Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and T4. ⠀
In the holistic world, thyroid disorders are often viewed as isolated and treated that way. In restorative endocrinology, we look beyond the two tests mentioned above. The endocrine system is a web of feedback loops. It's not helpful to focus only on the thyroid gland when there are so many other factors involved. 🙌

This is very important, because there have been 22 patterns of thyroid hormone disorders that have been identified by master clinicians that present as the same symptoms... this is why comprehensive lab testing and evaluation is necessary in your healing journey.💜 ⠀

A few posts back I talked about committing to my #meditation
practice. What I’ve noticed in my practice is that it has shifted focus to gratitudes. Gratitudes about life, about my ableness, and yes, sometimes the things in my life. It didn’t matter if I had one gratitude, or many, I made sure to spend time each day thinking and pouring my energetic self into them.
More than anything else, my gratitudes have been for the PEOPLE in my life. Like these succulents, we are all connected, and while this isn’t a novel concept, I think we spend so much of our energy on our individual and different natures and ignoring our shared ones.
We are innately social beings, meant for connection with the living world around us. How do you show up for those you call closest to you?
Breathing. 🧘🏻♂️ Sounds simple, doesn’t it?
Unfortunately, many of us are not breathing correctly and we don’t even notice it! 😮
Most of us tend to breathe quick and shallow breaths through our mouths and high into our chests.
This type of breathing makes us unconsciously tense by activating a pattern of stress in our nervous systems known as a sympathetic response. 😖
This sympathetic pattern can happen even when we believe we are relaxed. This response is helpful when we need to escape from danger, but at your normal nine to five job this response can literally give you a headache. 🤯 ✔️ To check in with your body, focus instead on breathing deep into the abdomen through your nose and out through your mouth. 🧘🏽♀️ ✨ Breathing this way promotes a relaxation response from your body. 😌✨ This relaxation response is stimulated from your parasympathetic nervous system - this system opposes the sympathetic system we just mentioned. 🤼♂️ The parasympathetic nervous system is your best friend when it comes to relaxing and letting go of stress. 😊💚 ✨ You can activate this system naturally by being mindful of your breathing. ✨ 👉 So give it a try! 👃

As with any question, it depends.
Starting your day with a big cup of celery juice is certainly not a bad idea, but is it the best choice for you?
Are you prepared to invest the time and energy into juicing celery everyday for the foreseeable future?
If not then it’s not a sustainable habit.
Let’s say you do want to invest 30 minutes of your morning into making fresh pressed celery juice. What benefits are you getting?.
✅ Hydration. You can just drink a big glass of water for hydration. If you’re not doing so already, and most people aren’t, that might be a more sustainable habit to develop. I add a little sea salt and lemon to mine and drink it room temperature. I feel energized because...hydration.
✅ Micronutrients. Celery has several known nutrients that have some cancer protective effects in animals and test tubes. But, the same holds true for a list of a dozen other foods though and the research with the use of celery juice or celery juice extracts in animals in humans is almost non-existent.

I’m glad Medical Medium has inspired a lot of people who were doing nothing to take action. There’s always value in that.
But overall I think the information adds to the confusion and frustration among many when it comes to nutrition and health.
If you love juicing celery juice, great! Keep it up. But you might also consider adding some cabbage, carrots, ginger, beets, arugula, or kale in there as well.
You’re missing out on some other potentially beneficial micronutrients by only sticking to celery.
