Today was such a long, busy, amazing day! It was our school's Christmas concert and Book Fair. When you work at a small school, there can be such an incredible sense of community when everyone comes together to pull off a big production. . . On those days, you aren't just a teacher. You are a light technician, a drama coach, a cashier, a set designer, a seamstress, a director, and more. I was on display when I needed to be and invisible when I needed to be. This beauty was my mums birthday cake. It's a tangerine cream on a gingersnap cookie sponge cake. It was delicious and unbelievable light because there was no sugar added other than the sugar in the cookies or in the canned tangerines. We knew that my mum wanted to bake a cake too so we decided to bake a small cake. It's only 18cm in diameter. A normal cake would have been 10 cm larger. With a smaller cake you cut smaller pieces without noticing it. So your brain thinks you had a normal slice and you stop eating earlier. Another way to trick your brain is to use a smaller plate for the whole cake and/or a smaller plate for your slice. Plus we had an extra workout to avoid feeling quilty aferwards. Learning to bring my thoughts back to the breath & to be present has truly been a gift. I find my mind wondering & thoughts fighting to be seen and heard. Instead of fighting them. I have learned to let them come. And then to let them go, just as quickly as they came. I have learned to smile as my legs shake in Warrior 3. And blow in the wind as I balance in Standing Tree. So... I could pick out many things wrong in this picture. -the fact there is a toilet in it.. 🙈 -my muffin top, among a few other things. -but this is reality, it’s what I see everyday. Only I can choose to change it and make better choices. -this picture actually brought me some encouragement yesterday. The definition in my traps. My small bicep. Flatter stomach. It was #weighinwednesdsy and I was NOT going to post/check in because the reality. I creeped over the 300 mark again at 301.4 so I was pissed all morning until I took my shirt off to shower after my workout. I knew and understood exactly why this happened. I had high fats in my macros for 4 days in a row... this morning. Back under 3xx. Trust the process. Get back on track. I know I’m still a “300lb” man. My weight can fluctuate +/- 5lbs each day. I wish it was always the -, but that’s not reality. I just want to be real and raw. I don’t want my IG to be a highlight reel. I want other people to know if I can do it. HOT TAMALE I’m sweatin... it seems like I always have to push myself harder through PM workouts. But I did just that and look at me now. Even got my 15 minutes of shuffle practice In. ☺️👟 • • One workout can change your day - but a bunch of em - can change your life. My trainer said this as I was DYING towards the end. I am SO stinking grateful that I get the honor to be a part of this fitness community. It makes it that much easier to stick to my goals and push forward every day when there’s a team counting on me. The old me would have skipped today’s workout... The smarter more disciplined me now, knows better. • • Shoutout to all the coaches giving me life in our current group! This is one of my favorite mobility exercises: a combination of single-leg balance with shoulder work. I often do this shoulder movement from a hip-hinge position, so if you’ve never tried it, start there before including the balance component. It’s deceptively difficult and requires a good bit of shoulder control. ⠀ It’s excellent if you feel tight in your shoulders and chest- it opens up this area by strengthening, rather than stretching.
