By the time you have reached triangle pose in the #Bikramyoga
series, you are at the peak of your standing series. This pose requires you to be fully aware of every part of your body. ♡
Keeping the knee bent at 90 degrees keeps the alignment of the ankle, knee, and hip joints in place. One thing that practitioners need to be aware is the action of pushing the hips forward to keep the opening in the hips. Too much leaning onto the side where the knee is bending will cause the centre of gravity to be swayed, which is what causes you to become quickly exhausted in this posture. ♡
As you continuously engage the abdomen and lifting the body up (so you can create a big gap, triangle, between your chest and thigh) while simultaneously stretching your arms in opposite direction, you will prevent yourself from collapsing into the posture. Also, keep the extended leg locked and foot firmly onto the ground without collapsing into the arch of the foot, which is another indication of too much leaning to the other side of the body. ♡
Once you have all these down, the last action to “turn and twist your body to the back” becomes easy as everything is already in place and you just need to create a spinal twist.
