“a flower knows, when its butterfly will return, and if the moon walks out, the sky will understand; but now it hurts, to watch you leave so soon, when I don't know, if you will ever come back.”
-The day has come for me to depart my home of twelve years, Cape Town South Africa.
I will be giving up vibrant fynbos for dense forests of spruce and pine, I will be trading the briny scent of the tumultuous ocean for the sweet smell of wildflowers and melting snow of springtime.
The home of my younger self will be forever left behind now as I venture towards the north as a fierce young woman who knows exactly what she wants.
I will lend myself to new passions and cultures, opening my heart and ears to new ways of thinking. I will discover what it means to live in the land of a thousand lakes, where bears lay hidden among secret thickets and deer dart through shady glens.
So for my hundredth post, I mark a major turning point in my life and the start of a marvelous adventure.
So, I hope you can all bear with me through this time of great transition as I move from the southern tip of Africa,Cape Town to Nelson, British Columbia.
This Christmas shall be a white one for me, complete with icicles, warm hearths and snowdrifts...and as I remain bundled inside I will kindle an ember of this life, this world, this beautiful place I’ve had the honor of calling my home even as I begin my new life across the sea.
