Holy moly...we made it! That was a very, very long & exhausting journey to get to the other side of the world!
We flew over the Swiss Alps (pic 1), stopped in Milan for coffee (and I must say, I used to have an obsession with the milk in Italy but this time it was soy & my Italian coffee was just as delicious!) Onward to Dubai where we were stuck in the airport for 17 hours due to delayed flights because the entire Kathmandu Airport was shut down after an airplane ran off the runway! We had no idea when were going to get to leave for Nepal! Dubai airport is definitely an intense experience and feels like a whole other world! We really had to apply our practice of letting go of expectations, living in the present moment, patience, positive attitudes, non-judgement and finding joy & learning lessons amongst challenges. We were so grateful to have made wonderful new friends - Hilary, a musician from the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina, who had been to Nepal many, many times and shared insider scoop with us and a French Chef from San Diego, Chef Bernard who had fascinating stories of all of his world travel & Chef life. These new friendships made the wait time much less painful! 52 hours of travel time later, we finally made it our final destination & all the painstaking efforts & delays to get here were absolutely worth it! May the fun begin!
