Real, authentic Thai food, even in NYC, can be elusive.
in East Harlem is the genuine article!
The owner/head chef Pat is there everyday cooking up a storm in this cozy open kitchen.
The menu is small, but features many options, and today I wanted to try as many as I could!
•Tamarind Coconut Milk Noodle - A huge bowl of ramen, with huge flavors to match! Peppers, sesame seed, chili oil, lime, peanuts, and a nice mild flavor from the tamarind sauce. Finished with some of the best Tofu I’ve ever had!
•Khao Mun Gai Tod - Expertly fried chicken over ginger rice, with cucumber, pickled ginger, and spicy plum sauce, + a superb bowl of chicken soup, Bangklyn style. Tremendous flavors out of this unassuming bowl! 🍲
•Khao Mun Tofu - Roasted Tofu over ginger rice! Again, the Tofu is the star!🤩 And I don’t even like Tofu!
• Papaya Salad - Simple, fresh, tasty, just the right amount of spice. Fresh cabbage on the side.
• Basil Fried Rice W/ Crab Meat - Top flight fried rice! (Good name for an indie band🤷♂️) Seriously, this fried rice will take you to Bangkok! The crab meat is a great addition!🍚🦀
•And to sip, an ice cold Thai Iced Tea! It was my first time having one of these, I found it perfect for a balance between the spicy food and hot weather. Sweet, cold and pairs well with the beautiful flavors that are produced by Bangklyn! 🍹
This is all a testament to Mr. Bangklyn himself, Pat!
From my first time in the restaurant, his hospitality and welcoming + his dedication to his craft have kept me returning!
He is always there, cooking and making authentic Thai comfort cusine. His food contains history, heart and soul. Try it and see what I mean!
Thank you @bangklyn
