NIGELLLLLLLLAAAAAAAA! In town to celebrate the launch of her 11th book - At My Table: A Celebration of Home Cooking - chef, author and TV host
@nigellalawson spoke to a rapt crowd last night at
@gbcchca College.
With tales from a lifetime of cooking and eating, she shared many details, including what she keeps on hand in the fridge (hint: bacon and eggs were on the list, but never tomah-toes). When asked what to do to become a food writer, she recommended reading, and not just books on food either. Her wise words: “I think you need to get the taste of sentences on your mouth.” Her cookbook too, is a sheer delight. Uncomplicated recipes that never bore (Slow Roasted 5-Spice Lamb with Chinese Pancakes; Sweet Potato Tacos; and Moroccan Vegetable Pot, to start) and and one that’s sure to cause a frenzy (Subverting The Spiralizer), it’s one of those cookbooks that you want to make every last recipe.
Including dessert. But how to choose? Pear, Pistachio and Rose Cake? Chocolate Olive Oil Mousse? Or a beloved pavlova, such as the Rose and Pepper Pavlova with Strawberries and Passionfruit on pages 208-209? You’re just going to have to try them ALL.
At My Table: A Celebration of Home Cooking is available for purchase in store and online now.
