THE PEEPHOLE SERIES — SAVANNA (HER ISLAND
“I was not allowed by my mother to go near the water so that’s why we were always at the park that I can’t show you now because it’s renovated and ugly. We were only allowed on the grass but then we would secretly go to the water. So I was near it once with my stroller. You know a child stroller?” I answer her yes. She goes on. “I dropped it into the water breaking my baby doll in the process. So I had to come up with a lie about the water stains on the doll. I told her that we were playing catch with it and it fell into a bucket of water. Naturally. But how the fuck do you even manage to do that right? I had nightmares about it for a long time. That my mother would find out that we had been close to the water. Eventually I told her and of course she didn’t care about it at all. Said to me I could have just told her. It’s always nice to be risky as a child, isn’t it?”
Another big thanks to Barry FitzGerald who runs one of the most exciting restaurants in Dublin. He was very kind to allow me in to photograph his restaurant before it opened and I was grateful for this opportunity. The restaurant has an unfinished look and you will not be disappointed by the menu or the delicious food. A definite if you are in the Dublin 8 area.
