I practice yoga because it supports me in all areas of my life. Finding time to connect with myself, I become a better wife, mother, sister, daughter, teacher and friend. I am more present, less reactive, more engaged, calmer and more rested as well as energized. I feel both softness and strength, balanced and whole. Every day is different, so I begin where I am and find contentment in even the days of moving with a tight, weak or changing body. I remember it’s a practice, not a performance or a competition. It is a reminder that I already have everything I need to survive, and I let go of wanting more than I need. There is no striving in this practice, because I am already complete exactly as I am, and I am exactly where I need to be. In weak moments, yoga (and my faith in God) saves me. Life has its challenges and some moments can feel overwhelming. But this ancient practice reminds me that I am a loving human being, and I am an integral part of the universe. It teaches me that we ALL are. We all are connected. And through this journey on my mat, I learn and practice radical self acceptance, release judgments, always be kind, appreciate my gifts, not take more than I need, practice moderation, let go of things I can't control, view all situations with equanimity, and connect with my higher self. Yoga is true integration. I am grounded and I am free. I pray for all beings everywhere to be happy and free.
