I will never forget the day when I called my mom crying on the phone from my dorm room at collage because I knew things had gotten out of hand. . . I knew that I needed to get help before I let things get worse. I knew that the way I was treating my body wasn't normal or healthy. I knew that my actions could have bigger consequences then I wanted to let myself believe. . . But more then anything? More then anything...I was angry at myself for doing the one thing I promised myself I would never do. Hate myself, punish myself, and most importantly hurt myself. More then anything...I was DONE fighting myself on every damn thing I did. More then anything...I was sick and tired of living in constant anxiety and stress over every thing I did. . . I wanted to go back to the time when I didn't think that everything I did deserved "punishment". I wanted to get back to living a life where I could actually eat whatever the F I wanted to, and not feel like I had to restrict the next day, then get upset when I went over a gram and fall into a cycle of binges, further restrictions, so on and so on. . . So what did I do? I made the decision that I was done living as a victim to my situation. I was done letting my relationship with food, myself, and my body dictate every single thing I did. Most importantly...I made the decision that it was time for a change. . . My message to you: It is OKAY to want to change. It is OKAY to want to not be stuck in your current mindset and situation any longer. It is OKAY to decide to start living your best life and working towards becoming the best version of yourself. Your current struggles do not define you. They help shape you into the person you are meant to be. . . If you want help, want to change, but don't know how. Do you like Chipotle?! • You’re probably thinking, ummm, is that even a question? • One of my previous clients loved Chipotle but it was such a struggle for her every time she went. She would think about it all day. Should I get the rice? No. I definitely shouldn’t get the rice. The rice adds calories. If I have the rice I shouldn’t enjoy a glass of wine tonight. Wine or rice? I’ll get the rice and skip the wine. Wait, I really want the rice. • I completelyyyy understood that self talk! I used to go through the same type of thing every time I ate. It becomes debilitating. It made eating so stressful. • When I got a text from her telling me that she went to Chipotle and she didn’t think about the rice all day, made me jump up and down (not kidding). She decided in the moment she would get extra veggies instead of rice, not because she felt like she couldn’t have the rice but because she knew the veggies would make her feel better. • These are the type of wins I strive for with my clients! I used to hate myself during the holiday season. 😔 • I punished myself for eating so much on Thanksgiving. I did hours of cardio to “burn off” the calories I ate. I told myself I wasn’t going to have any more dessert for a long time. 🙅🏽‍♀️ • I was disgusted with myself. How could I eat that much pie last week? Why did I have so many scoops of mashed potatoes? 🤷🏽‍♀️ • I felt lost. I felt like I was never going to lose weight. I felt defeated year after year, holiday after holiday. 👎🏽 • Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever feel good about my body. I always felt defeated stepping on it. It only brought me negative thoughts. Without the restriction of the scale I can live life based on how I feel, not by a number on a scale. 😃
I used to hate Monday’s. • It meant I was back to another start. Another 4 days of eating chicken and veggies while still being upset with myself for indulging over the weekend. • Why did I have to eat so much over the weekend? Why did I have to drink so much? I felt disgusting by the time Monday rolled around. • I punished myself with extra cardio sessions. I punished myself for living life on the weekends. I punished myself by telling myself I wasn’t good enough. • After years of struggling with starting over on Monday’s, I have finally learned that I don’t have to start over if I just keep going. Growing up I was always an athlete, pretty sure I’ve tried every sport open to girls that was available to me. . . When I got to college I played one season of volleyball and decided it wasn’t for me, there was so much that I wanted to do with my college experience. That decision lead to, basically, 7 years of very limited exercise. Am I still skinny, yes, but SKINNY does not mean HEALTHY. I’ve tried the gym, not a fan but I knew for my health that I needed a change. . . I had been watching all of these women on social media doing their workouts from home, getting awesome results, and it was so inspiring to me to watch their journey. That’s when I decided to give this at home workout thing a try! . Is there a dramatic, physical difference between these two pictures - no. The difference between this two pictures is that the girl on top wasn’t showing up for herself. The girl on bottom did and will continue to do so. . . The program I chose to complete was 8 weeks long, 4 workouts a week ranging 30-40 minutes a day. Like I said, I was perfectly imperfect, the program took me 10 weeks. There is nothing wrong with that! It also comes with a meal plan - I ate well but I didn’t follow it, I ate cookies, pizza, pasta, Chinese food and beer - that’s OK too! These journeys are about progress, not perfection! . . What I do have is a group of ladies that motivate me every.single.day! It’s so damn hard to be consistent! How many times have you felt or said that? Especially when it comes to finding a healthy lifestyle which suits you and gives you the freedom to enjoy your body, family, relationships and careers. 🌍 Yes, it is hard and here’s why. You are trying to change habits that have been a part of you for a really long time, maybe even a lifetime, to create new habits and that’s not easy. Our brains a pretty feckin’ resistant to any change. 🧠 But…yes there is a but..it is possible. Yes, there will be times when the last thing you want to think about is what to eat, when to exercise because it feels like a big change, like you’re trying to climb a mountain. Though think about it this way. Its like learning to walk for the first time, ride a bike or drive a car….you had to keep going at it until it became second nature. There were falls, scrapes, bumps and knocks until you got better at it. Now you don’t even think about these things. They become a part of you essentially transcribed into your DNA. Same with creating new healthy habits. There will be times you feel like its not possible and want to give up. Especially when you have many people demanding your time or unconsciously try to steer you off course. Y’know those little willpower sucking 🧛‍♀️ that wear you down….aka your little cherub. Or that constant curve ball throwing boss at work, driving you to the 🥡 and offy most nights 🍷 . Or your “best friend” Donna who keeps saying to you, sure one won’t hurt! So where do you start to figure this all out? When I talk to clients about consistency, I ask them what meaning do they give to the word consistency. The typical reply is being 100% on all the time, which is actually a misconception. Consistency does not mean perfection….it does not mean being 100% on it all the time, 7 days a week. 🌪#throwbackthursday to 15mths ago when I had a 6 pack....👀 (Yeh yeh, I know what you’re thinking...nice tan??!! 😝) In fact it was the leanest I had ever been. Do I look like this now? No Which is cool 😎 So why do it? Well I wanted a plan to give me some structure to my gym sessions and learn more about different styles. Also I was spending so much time planning for clients I was spending less and less time looking after my own training. And most importantly it suited my lifestyle at the time as it involved: 8 weeks of focus and commitment, 4 x weight training sessions a week Plus cardio training in between Calorie tracking Meal planning Accountability with a coach And being part of an online community. Saying no to temptations Getting in the gym when I really wanted to curl up with a hot water bottle. Am I prepared to do that again? No it’s just not a goal for me right now and it’s not my approach with those that work with me. But it did teach me: 🌈to stop being so anal about certain foods and food groups 🌈to build in more flexibility so it stops being on a diet off a diet. It was a plan for a specific goal. 🌈 to be content with the skin I’m in. Have you been through a similar thing? What lessons have you learned?

You say I’ve nothing to wear when the wardrobe is stuffed full Nothing fits, it’s all blacks and greys, you reach for the same thing time and time again. Now look in your kitchen cupboards or fridge. Do you feel the same? There’s nothing to eat but the cupboards are so full its confusing and you’re overwhelmed with decisions? There only all bland uninspiring foods, So, you end up reaching for the same thing…toast for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, potato meat and veg for dinner…. day in, day out. Does your kitchen need a detox? Here’s 5 ways to detox your kitchen and bring out your inner nigella. Detox 1- Start with easy, clear out anything that is past its sell by dates or best before. Detox 2- Ditch the old fad diet foods…yes that clean green spirulina powder that has been used once 3 years ago and is lost in the abyss of your cupboard is never gonna be used. And don’t try to tell me it will. Gluten free foods also apply here…unless you have an actual diagnosis. Detox 3- Any foods that have been bought, not opened, non-perishable, are still in date, do a great thing and take them to a food bank! Detox 4- Listen as harsh as this may sound, you are not Nigella…and I know she may have a lovely kitchen full of all sorts of copper toned gadgets but do you really need to a separate implement for cutting apples, lemons, onions and pineapples. (Not sure they all exist but trying to make point so bear with me) … surely that’s what one knife can do? Yes, that includes the good knives so get them out!! Eek! Detox 5- Get rid of the old chipped crockery, rusted cutlery and no longer see through glassware. Use the ‘good’ stuff instead of it being a dust collector!! Say goodbye and life will greet you with new hellos! xx

Are you stuck in a rut? I have had one of the least productive weeks in a while last week... Yes a whole week!! Due to a few knock backs, I was pushed to question a lot of things in my life. Those sorts of questions like: can I really run my own business? Am I a fake? Why would anyone want my help? I'm not even exercising, My diet starts to go haywire and so on a so forth. And I become more of a people pleaser as at least I feel like I'm doing something I keep putting the pressure on to do more all the while beating myself up because I'm not doing anything. Have you ever had this? It horrible to feel that way, though now I become better at recognising the things to do. Take the pressure off and step away from the battle. So I did. Yesterday was a complete day of chilling. I stayed in bed a little longer than usual with my husband. My best friend came to visit for a coffee I had a nice meal out with my husband and actually sat watching Strictly last night...that jive!! Today I felt like a motivated machine again. And started to take small steps... I made some soup to give me lunch options this week. I cooked up a tomato chutney with my Dad's end of season harvest. I have my schedule for the week all up to date and excited about waking up tomorrow. No big intentions or goals. Enjoyable, small steps to create momentum... And when you get momentum..... If your plans don’t allow for a full workout, at least get in a walk, a 10 minute living room workout, jog in place, anything that gets your body moving! 3️⃣ Your family and friends. Live in the moment. Enjoy what you are doing and who you are with. Cherish every moment you have with them. 4️⃣ Choose the app or the dessert. You don’t need both with a meal. Living a healthy lifestyle includes eating what you want while knowing what is best for your body. 5️⃣ On Sunday, plan for your week.
