It was a very random pick to kill my time, but this book served me well. The best thing about this book is its neutrality! Unlike, books by Lezlay Hazelton, Greg or Khalid Hussaini, Reza remained crisp, unbiased and extremely focused. There are a lot of things that I would like to question. But I wouldn't undermine his efforts and audacity to challenge the twisted beliefs we live in! How the world portrays Muslim and how can we collectively make a difference.
I was quitting this book after 4 pages, but what kept me driven are these lines, 'Religion is concerned not with genuine history, but with sacred history, which does not course through time like a river. Rather, sacred history is like a hallowed tree whose roots dig deep into primordial time and whose branches weave in and out of genuine history with little concern for the boundaries of space and time. Indeed, it is precisely at those moments when sacred and genuine history collide that religions are born.' I believe the same goes with the countless sects we have today! No matter how good or bad history may sound, there is no way you can skip the benefit of doubts that we play on.
However, I extremely disliked his ignorance over intangibility of the spiritual world, faith and the revelation process of Quran. Not everything can be touched or seen and that's where 'Tawheed' comes in. I can strongly vouch for the spiritual connection we have with Allah... we can't wait to have some phonelines running in between. Allah is nearer to our throat and we all can feel it. *Hands Down*
Anyways, summing up - this book will give you a variety of taste. Some of the facts are equivalent to chewing rock hard stones, sautéed in Green and Red Chillies combined 😜😜😜. This book will give you tremors and head shaking jerks but don't worry - aap Dozakh mein nahi jaingay ☺️☺️☺️. Parh kar raffa daffa karein aur ya kuch dil or deemagh kholein.
Agar aap Phool Waley Bappa ko deikh kar TV nahi tortey to yeah book tou bohat halki hai 😅😅 I m now moving to some light, heartwarming book - will share which one soon!
Happy Reading❤️ #rezaaslan #nogodbutgod #bookstagram #books #readingtime #madihaahmeds #bookreview
