A special post today: my dad's 1974 #Ford #Capri
The Capri was manufactured by "Ford of Europe" as the European equivalent of the #Mustang
. Designed with a lighter body and smaller engine effectively better suited for the narrower roads and more expensive fuel in the Old Continent.
It was designed by one of the men who also designed the Mustang in North America but the Mk.II model was the very first Ford model offered as a #hatchback
! Could this be spiritual precursor to the #Fiesta
and now very reputable Fiesta ST?
My dad's model is powered by the 2.3-litre "Cologne" V6 (such a #British
engine name, is it because it's slick as cologne?! 🧐 ) with a 4-speed manual transmission. It could go up to 100 kph in 10 seconds and sped up to 180 kph, not bad for a mid-70s car!
The closest car to a Mustang that Europe ever got, a compromise to one of my father's greatest dreams, a great weekend cruiser, an absolute head-turner on the street today and definitely a time capsule from the 70s spreading feelings of #nostalgia
to the driver as well as the passersby...! This little Capri was more than a car while it was in my dad's ( @brunohantson
) ownership and now lives on in the hands of another happy owner!
