One of my favourite parts of a retreat is sitting down together at a large table, eating the most amazing food that has been lovingly prepared for us and having wonderfully diverse, deep and meaningful conversations, mixed perfectly with lightheartedness and laughter.

✨I love the richness of these conversations and how the transformation and learning continues when we’re “off the mat” and in chill out spaces.
✨My experience over the years has taught me that many of the “aha” moments happen in the “spaces between”. Isn’t that true of life in general?
✨I know from my experience I made one of my biggest decisions ( to leave a job / career) whilst walking down a hillside after teaching a yoga class on retreat. In those days, I was working in an employed “career” Mon to Thurs and teaching yoga Fri to Sun. I flew home on the Weds and handed my notice in on the Thursday!!
✨Spontaneous, crazy, courageous, inspiring, foolish...yep all of those things.
✨I was a single mum; I didn’t really have a solid business plan, just a calling and an intuition to do it. I followed that flash on inspiration and made the change immediately.
✨If I hadn’t, once home it would have been far too easy to revert back to what is considered “normal” /“safe” / “responsible”
✨When we make choices or decisions when we’re away from our normal environment; they will be heart and soul decisions. ✨big life changing decisions can be part of a retreat...or it can just be valuable time for you, to enjoy great company, delicious food and yoga in beautiful surroundings.

There are so many benefits to working/schooling from home full time, but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
One of the difficult parts is trying to establish a little bit of routine, specifically a morning routine to help me start the day focused.
I enjoy the morning when things are peaceful and quiet and like to wake up on the earlyish side (7ish) but I do not wake up full of energy jumping around.
I’m working this week on establishing a morning routine, starting simply with drinking a glass of water before my coffee.

What are your intentions?? Why do you choose the foods you eat? Does it come from a place of love or a place of hate? Is it to lose weight? Satisfy a craving? Nourish your body? Fill a void? Comfort your emotions? Social? .
Understanding the WHY is far more important than what you are actually eating. I love working with the mental side of eating with clients. I see a trend with people who want to be told what to eat or follow a strict plan because they think that is the key to their results, yet the real question should be: WHY ARE YOU EATING IT? .
I can give you all the information, tools, structure a plan that works for your lifestyle but if you don't have a connection to your why, it won't work. Understand where your intentions are coming from. For example this is my normal breakfast. Eggs, oats, nut butter. It comes from a place of nourishment and fuel for the morning. I am setting myself up for my training in the afternoon by filling my body with foods that support my goals. .
If you are struggling to stick to a program, maybe ask yourself why you are doing it. If your answer comes from a place of negative thinking your why isn't strong enough. Motivation is fleeting. Pure intentions last. If you don't enjoy your meals, why are you eating them? If you find it hard to sustain chances are you won't stick to it. You are an individual that needs your own individual approach. There is not right diet, just the right one for you!

Being a mess is pretty much a sign of being human!
(I hear this from the most unlikely of people too - the ones who look on the outside like they have every box ticked. But still...)
It’s a really modern idea, this one that says we should be totally fine without support...and any sign of struggle is our own fault. *
We’re actually not designed to survive all by ourselves, stuck in our own heads, within the four walls of our homes.
So when we’re left that way, we struggle.
We humans are not built for isolation. We need each other. *
Whatever you’re going through right now (even the smallest things) you’re not alone. So please don’t allow yourself to feel that way.
Seek out the people who have been where you are (there are lots of us!) and can guide a path for you as you come home to yourself. 💜

CHEAP & HEALTHY TAKEAWAY LUNCHES 😋 as procrastination from my study yesterday I roughly worked out how much my meal prepped lunch cost me! Spinach, avo, pumpkin, quinoa & falafel 😋 pretty sure it cost me just over $3, and these definitely are not your cheapest nutrient-dense foods 😂 Although you can definitely have cheaper lunches, I still think this is reasonable for something so nutritious ☺️ a takeaway salad from a cafe would be 4x that! I did get the falafel bites on special (swipe for a better look at them) & I brought the pumpkin & avo outside uni for $1 each! The quinoa was brought in bulk & although it’s expensive, it doubles when you cook it so you really don’t need much of it to begin with! 😊 you could always use brown rice as a cheaper option though!!

Dinner is Served :: Its Pho Sure hard to make nourishing meals some times... been digging this sorta pho soup lately! Key is to make things simple and easy. So what if it isn’t really pho... it tastes close enough and it was ready in half hour! •
1. Have a bone broth ready and hot in the crockpot for when you get home (so start it the night before you want to eat it)
2. Sautee some veggies (any veggies — with onion, garlic, ginger)
3. Boil some noodles
4. Mix it all together, add some salt, tamari, and chinese 5 spice (or anise, allspice, cinnamon, clove) — top with some fresh parsley, cilantro, and bean sprouts! •

We do our best with what we know and when we know better, we do better. We course correct, we evolve, we change and grow.
Some people now go without the bun, or wrap their burger in lettuce ... we change. Some people gave up Jif or Skippy and went to organic, oil on top, less processed, less garbage peanut butter ... we evolve. Some people now use zucchini or spaghetti squash as noodles instead of pasta ... we course correct.
30 years ago our soil was not depleted like it is today. Our food was more nutritionally dense. Things didn’t have to be labeled “organic”, “non-gmo”, “grass-fed” ... they just were.
We didn’t need to rely as much on nutritional supplementation. Times have changed and our food system has changed but, our bodies still require specific nutrients in order to thrive. Some of which we are not getting a complete spectrum of in even our beautiful “whole food” diets.
I am a “whole foodie” I eat lots of beautiful, organic, grass fed, local, seasonal, non-gmo ... but I also provide my body with what’s missing. I also fill in the gaps by incorporating a nutritional technology that is loaded with the minerals and other nutrients my body (and your body) needs in order to thrive.
It’s not about drinking shakes instead of eating food. It’s about cellular #nourishment
, it’s about education, it’s about understanding that times have changed and we must evolve. We must throw out old ways that no longer work and get with the times. Nutritional supplementation is a necessary addition to a healthy diet.

Bone broth has been used throughout history for as long as we can remember and is a staple in the diets of cultures all around the world. This easily digestible nutrient dense superfood has a list of health implications so long you could write a book! That being said I’ll just give you the cliff notes 😉
✅Joint Support- Bone broth has one of the highest concentrations of natural collagen (the most abundant protein in the body). It also contains gelatin which acts as a soft cushion between bones helping to alleviate some of the pressure associated with aging joints. Gelatin also helps support bone density.

So like, why a toddler? Because this was you. Before diet culture swept you away and taught you all its dirty, wrong, injustice-filled rules to living the perfect wellness journey of a life with no saturated fats and only foods that come out of the ground - okay we get it.
When your hungry? Ask yourself what you want. Eat that food you want until you feel fullness arriving (she’s slow so take your time). Then stop eating. And then carry on.
Seriously!!! Ask yourself the simple question and then just do it. Will it be weird? Yeah. Scary? Probably. Let yourself think and feel all these things. THEY’RE NORMAL!
These first steps of unconditional permission to eat the foods you want is often referred to as #donutland
. And you may gain weight here, you may lose it, or stay the damn same - you may cry, you may laugh and be amazingly happy. But you need to live there and let it happen.
These are the first steps to normalizing your relationship with food. The way it once was when you were a toddler.
