What do our children learn when we tell them they are beautiful and then look in the mirror and judge and criticize ourselves? They are learning how to self-criticize. Banana, Date, Blueberry and White Chocolate Cake 🤤 .
This cake not only looks totally amazing, it also tastes amazing and is so dense like a mud cake texture with all those delicious bananas. (SWIPE ACROSS for a video close up) The cake is dairy free, nut free and can be made gluten free too, Id actually like to try and make a vegan version as all you would need to do is use flax or chia eggs as a replacement, however I’ve never tried it so I don’t know. Perhaps I’ll put that on my list of things to make 🤔
120g pitted dates
115g white self raising flour
115g wholemeal self raising flour
40g coconut sugar
40g milk of choice (I used soy)
130g olive oil or coconut (I used a mix of both)
2 tbs honey
3/4 cup white choc chips. (Extra for decoration)
3/4 cup frozen blueberries (plus fresh for decoration) .
•Preheat oven to 170c grease and line a deep loaf pan with baking paper. •Place dates and banana into mixing bowl and chop 5-10 sec speed 8. Scrape bowl.
Add remaining ingredients (except choc chips) and mix 5 sec speed 3-4, scrape sides and mix for a further 5 sec sp3. •Add choc chips and mix reverse speed 3, 3 seconds. •Pour mixture into prepared loaf tin and bake 1 hour 1 hour 15 mins or until a skewer inserted comes out clean (keep an eye on it from 1 hour) You can loosely cover with foil halfway to prevent browning too. After 5 minutes transfer to a wire rack to cool. Once cooled melt some white chocolate over a double boiler, pour into a ziplock bag and snip the corner off. Drizzle over the cake and decorate with fresh blueberries. .

As requested by a few people today here is that Medicinal Mushroom Soup recipe I whipped up to combat my cold like symptoms.
Into a pot 1 tbs of olive oil. Add either two tbs of freshly grated tumeric and ginger. I used 2 tbs of @trueprotein
tumeric powder instead and freshly * grated ginger. 1 tsp of @trueprotein
cinnamon and two cloves of crushed garlic. Let fry for a minute or two till fragrant. Then pour 1ltr of of water in and bring to the boil. Reduce heat then stir a can of full fat coconut milk and stir. Once warmed (do not boil) add 1/4 cup of tamari, 200g of sliced mushrooms, 200g of cherry tomatoes halved, 150g of snow peas trimmed and cook for 3-5mins till vegetables soften. I also added a large sliced red chilli for some extra spice. Remove from heat, serve with a splash of lime juice and fresh basil. * I peel and freeze my garlic and ginger. Not only does it last longer but easier to grate into dishes.

So this is the 1st soup of the season for me which I made yesterday and enjoyed some today too. So glad I spotted a post by @food_to_glow
featuring her Mediterranean tumeric, lentil and lemon broth. The only change I made was the addition of shittake 🍄 for their ability to further boost the immune system and fresh red chilli, as opposed to dried red chilli.
It's sure packed full of anti inflammatory ingredients to keep the lurgy away. seriously. in today's world it seems something is always competing for our attention... the news, podcasts, social media, etc. something is always happening + wanting to be seen. but you know what... something has ALWAYS been happening. right? and the world kept turning.
with our upcoming cross-country move, the hubster + I sat down to take a look at some of the things we wanted to box up and take with us... some things we wanted to store... and other things we needed to either donate or trash.
but it made me think of other things we needed to either take with us... or trash. and that was our habits. how can WE be more present as a family. how can we focus on the NOW... before our Gillies, the twins, are packing up their own things to head out on their own.
a few habits we decided to take with us: + family dinners... unplugged
+ Saturday morning outings to the local farmer's market
+ Sunday church service
+ starting the day with meditation and prayer
+ weather permitting... going outside in nature for at least 10-20 minutes each day
+ taking a beat at the end of the day to say ONE thing we are all grateful for
+ each parent taking one kid on a "date" each month... and mama + dad going on a date as well ☺️

Autumn is a time for harvesting and this is my first experience of harvesting our very own produce here at The Quaives. We have a small apple orchard of these amazing mini trees which produce a few different varieties of apples. Can’t wait to taste them and share them with guests on our retreats! We try and create meals that are based mainly on English seasonal foods, local and organic. We do still get luxuries like nuts, beans and coconut products which are imported. But what a blessing to have something from our own gardens to contribute to the meals. Our dream is to have more and more of our own homegrown produce but it’s a long term plan, and we have much to learn. Just living and life itself is school and there is always more to learn. We were blessed with this small orchard when we bought the place, and it is one of the many things that we love about this place. What is your new thing that you are learning about at the moment?

Take it from someone who would not take her daily cup of joe without adding nearly 1/4 a cup of sugary creamer first. One-fourth of a cup of flavored creamer every morning is a problem.
Then I discovered this dairy-free creamer with ONLY THREE ingredients 🙀 It’s more nutty than sweet, so imagine my surprise when I tasted it and instantly realized I would probably never be able to go back to the level of sweet that came from my former brand.
I have a lot of goals. One of those goals is to cut as much sugar out of my daily intake as I can. ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY grams of my added sugar intake EACH WEEK came from my store-bought coffee creamer alone. How ridiculous is that?! You guys. There are roughly 2 grams of sugar (per ounce) in this diy creamer. I could leave out the maple syrup altogether, but I’m just not there yet 🤷🏻♀️ Until I am, I will gladly take 18g less sugar each morning.
For your own, blend together~
> 2 cans Thai lite coconut milk
> 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
> 1 tablespoon vanilla
For my fellow YL/eo people, add a drop of Peppermint Vitality to your coffee along with this creamer. Lovely fresh start to my mornings 😌
Pay attention to the added sugar. Pay attention to the ingredient list. Limit where you can. This is one way I found I can limit my sugar intake. How can you limit yours?

Spaghetti Squash VS Whole Wheat Spaghetti 🍝
Both are totally healthy options. One of the biggest differences here is calories, you’ll notice that right away. The squash has only 40 while the whole wheat has 4.5x that. The squash is also lower in carb but the whole wheat wins when it comes to protein and fiber.
So, how do you choose between them? Well, lower calorie and carb is not always better. Your body needs them to function. I usually choose whole wheat when I’m more active, had a lighter day of eating and need the calories or I’ll choose it for dinner if I’m gearing up for a morning run. The squash is great for a lighter meal, such as when you maybe haven’t been super active, if you’ve eaten a good amount throughout the day, or if you had a slice of cake unexpectedly in the break room and have plenty of available energy.
Ultimately, choose what sounds best and what will satisfy you!

When I think of the summer of 2018 I will remember the mixed emotions I felt. .
When I started The Food Remedy I really didn't know what I was doing. I had this fire inside my soul that was telling me “you cannot work 9-5” ... I had this FIRE in my heart and I knew I had to help women - I had to help women understand that they had been fed a load of lies and the diet industry was the one that was flawed not them.
I didn’t think about the money or freedom. I just KNEW I wanted to help the women that I saw struggling that they can do it, they are worthy and capable of anything they want. I wanted everyone to feel good enough. .
Back then I didn’t have any idea how hard it would be, i had absolutely no idea how overwhelming it would get.

Listen to all the podcasts and read all the self-help books... but nothing beats .

Do you meal prep? I get this question a lot. My answer: not really! I like to make yummy dinners then make extras to eat for the next few days. Like these honey sriracha turkey meatballs over white rice with roasted baby bok choy (spray with avo oil then 375 for 10-15 mins) and steamed snow peas. ➡️RECIPE (I posted this a littl awhile ago but here it is again) 🔥Honey Sriracha Turkey Meatballs🔥 ➡️meatballs: 1 lb 99% lean turkey, 1 lb 85% lean turkey, 2 eggs, 1/2 c chopped onion, 1 tbs minced garlic, 1/4 c chopped green onion, 1/4 c ground flax seeds. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Roll into balls (easier if you coat hands with oil first) and place on baking sheet, should have about 25ish. Bake at 375 until done, about 30-35 mins ➡️sauce: 1/4 c sriracha, 1/4 c honey, 1/4 c coconut aminos or soy sauce, 1 tbs rice vinegar, 1 tsp toasted sesame oil (could leave out if you don’t have), 1 tsp ginger powder, 2 tsp minced garlic. Mix all ingredients in a small pot. Medium heat until it’s bubbling, turn heat down to simmer and whisk frequently for 10 mins to help thicken. ➡️When both are done: pour sauce over meatballs and eat over white rice cooked with a little bit of @kerrygoldusa

➡️ First of all, let’s get the word diet out of there! I despise that word w/ a passion. We have too many negative associations with that word. Let’s call them eating styles…
🔵 And the answer? The one that works best for you! If you enjoy meals with various animal products and dairy products in it, do you think vegan would work best for you? No. If you enjoy other foods that are restricted in the eating style you follow, it is going to be exponentially harder for you to stay consistent 👎🏼
🔶 The best option is the one that works for your life and is maintainable long-term 🙌🏼 If you feel any restriction or inability to enjoy what you love because of your plan, it is not the right one for you, and you WILL fail 🔙
. ⬛️ Lastly, even if you do follow an eating style, I strongly encourage you not to put yourself in the box of “I am vegan”...“I am Paleo”...“I am gluten-free.” This only makes you feel restricted or unable to eat the “cheat foods” or things off plan. Instead, identify yourself as human. Honor your hunger and fullness cues, satisfaction and cravings, and enjoy the foods you love! 🍣🍕🥦🍉🍩

Often our daily intake of protein is lacking. Proteins are the main building blocks of our body and are used to make muscle, enzymes, and hormones to name a few. .
The average sedentary woman needs 46-75 grams of protein per day. Sadly we barely scratch that number with our diet. .
Start that intake with breakfast. Grab some eggs and see that protein number go up. Eggs are a great source of protein that you can start your day off with. One egg has 6 grams of protein, add some cheese and at least a cup of spinach cooked and you just tripled your amount of protein in your breakfast. .
