Well, we made it home!
In total we drove 1,786 miles, hiked a modest 71 miles, and climbed 288 floors with around 35lbs of gear in the past 3 weeks.
A few topics that coming home has brought to light to us is that returning to the East Coast is a culture shock. There is so much grind, internalization, and cell phone usage (especially among drivers) rampant in public places here in South Florida. What a stark contrast to the welcoming vibes, relaxed paced, and surveillant demeanor of the lives in the PNW. There is likely bias is our experience as we are transitioning from a vacation mindset back into the working mentality, but that brings us to our next point.
Being conscious of our attitudes after unplugging and carrying that inner peace moving forward is crucial. We often become so single sighted, aiming to accomplish our goals as quickly as possible in order to move onto the next step, endlessly striding after the dangling carrot. In the meantime we have forgotten to live in the present, interact with our surroundings, and appreciate our time and this world we live in.
We are getting some amazing October days here in the PNW. We took a little drive up Hurricane Ridge the other weekend and saw this. It’s easy to forget how much awesome is right in our own backyards.

You know what I miss doing? Saying, “screw it I’m down” and literally just go and commit and seize the day. Wake up early randomly drive somewhere and document it. Tell a story and then unplug, take it all in yourself. —

Looking forward to lazing by the fireplace, eating all the comfort foods, and braving the elements to bask in glorious foliage. New England in the Fall, y’all. 👌🏻⠀
With only one weekend off this month and all client galleries being delivered early, this girl is clocking out for some almost-end-of-wedding-season r&r! ⠀

The Mr and I have been kicking ideas around about where we want to move after J graduates and there are some pretty epic locations on the table. All I ask for is a lush courtyard with a bunch of ornate little balconies...that’s reasonable, right?! 🤷🏻♀️ #ishootfilm @gardnermuseum
