The comparison trap strikes again. You know, that icky feeling when you start comparing yourself to other people. The worst.
For me this happens a lot on social media. Majority of the people I follow on here are fellow NTPs, health coaches, nutritionists, and entrepreneurs. That means every time I’m on Instagram, I’m bombarded with people trying to do similar things, eat similar things, and preach similar things that I do.
Some of the time this is really great! I get to learn from others, get inspired, and cheer them on. But sometimes I start comparing myself to what they’re doing.
“WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT?”
“SHE HAS SO MANY MORE CLIENTS THAN ME!”
“I’LL NEVER BE AS GOOD AS HER.”
This is my reminder to you, and to me, that no one else’s success is going to stop or dull your own success. The fact that Suzie Q is killing it with “X” doesn’t mean you can’t ALSO kill it with “X”.
This is one of the biggest downfalls of social media. It’s so easy to compare yourself and start that negative self talk.
So here’s what I’m doing.
✨Unfollow people that make me feel these ickies about myself. It’s no offense to them! But it’s hurting me and that isn’t cool.
✨ Get really specific with my own goals and write out actionable steps to achieve them. Then, start taking those steps one at a time.
✨ Lean on my support system for a little confidence boost when I need it.
✨ Focusing on all the good I have going on, how far I’ve come, and what I have in the works. .
HEAD DOWN, EYES FORWARD.
And don’t you ever let anyone else detract from your sparkle and shine. You got it going on, boo.

STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM NOW WE'RE HERE. When I decided to align myself with Beautycounter's efforts to educate, advocate, and provide solutions in the clean beauty marketplace -- I honestly had no idea I would become an activist. We've moved from being a small, grass-roots-style movement, to being THE big hitters in the clean beauty industry. Two days ago - we were named the "Top Trending Beauty Brand of 2018" and frankly -- I'm not the least bit surprised.
Thousands of consultant voices, hundreds of thousands of informed consumers, an incredible team of movers & shakers behind Beautycounter, and The Counteract Coalition have been instrumental in facilitating change this year...
In March 2018, 100 Beautycounter consultants descended on Washington DC to lobby for the Personal Care Product Safety Act, which would allow the FDA to more closely regulate what’s in our personal care products & improve transparency in the industry.
In May 2018, Hawaii banned oxybenzone-containing sunscreens due to mass damage to the oceanic ecosystem.
August 2018, the Safer Salon Bill passed in California which requires ingredient disclosure in professional salon products.
In October 2017, 2018, our founder & CEO was recognized by Goldman Sachs as one of the "100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs" of 2018 at its Builders + Innovators Summit.
We've been featured on the Today Show, Fast Company, New York Magazine, Real Simple, NPR, WWD, Allure, Glamour, New York Times, LA Times, InStyle, and Refinery 29.
We are creating products that out-perform their conventional counterparts -- something to be so incredibly proud of in a world where we are constant asked to sacrifice product performance for health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What I'm most proud of: This company has cultivated an army of individuals who are fed up with our current industry standards and ready to do something about it. We deserve better. Our children deserve better. Who's ready to join us?

In January it will be 6 years since I went gluten free. I had sworn I would NEVER give up bread and pasta…..then I did. I was 28 years old and had just been told there was no way I could have a baby unless I did IVF. But even before that, I was going to have to go on a medication for 6 month that would medically induce menopause (this would have been the second time in my 20’s to go through menopause) and I just couldn’t do it again. At that point, my older sister found and article saying that it is beneficial for women with endometriosis to go gluten free. At that point, I felt I would rather give up my favorite foods rather than have the doctors play with my hormones again. I went gluten free cold turkey. No phasing it out; just cut it out right then and there. It was NOT easy. I felt starving for about 6 weeks and was a HUGE learning curve since I was vegetarian and now gluten free too. I ended up going to an acupuncturist that tested my blood against food to see if it reacted to anything. So I cut out all those foods too. There was very little I could eat but it was still WAY better than not having control of my health again. Before I went gluten free nothing beside morphine took my pain away, after being gluten free for 3 months I could take Advil for any discomfort. 10 months later, I was pregnant naturally with my amazing son Asher, now 4 ½ and then my daughter Daisy who just turned 2. If you are discouraged about your health and you have been told all these crazy drugs to try and you don’t feel anything is working, maybe it is time to take a closer look at WHY your body is hurting and stop trying to cover symptoms with meds. Our bodies are always trying to tell us what it needs.

I’ve been doing some reading on Ayurveda and it turns out smoothies are like the worst thing I can do for my own personal digestion 😂. It’s interesting how sometimes the things we crave most are the things our body needs the least 🤷🏼♀️. Stay tuned for less smoothies and more...soup?

You know when you have those meals that you are just like DAMN GINA, you did it! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 No? Well you should have more of those. And this Szechuan Beef will 💯 get you to sing your own praises. 🙌🏼✨
Although I made this all by myself, because it’s beef & I most often save that for whenever Sunil isn’t home, I think this would be the perfect dish to cook together with your favorite sous chef. 👩🏼🍳 It requires a little bit of prep work with the thinly sliced beef & julienned veggies so take a loaf off & make somebody help you. 💁🏼♀️
But truth be told, now I’m thinking about how I can’t wait to have this again tomorrow for breakfast but I’m gonna top with some kimchi & a fried egg. 🙏🏼🤤

Are your periods really heavy because of a hormonal imbalance? Maybe you’re making too little progesterone like I was! 🙋🏻♀️ You May know my story that I had impacted my hormones so much due to various stressors (food sensitivities, working out too much, dieting too much ect). I was told I would not be able to carry a pregnancy with how low my progesterone was.
The only way to make progesterone is to ovulate, so if you don’t have enough progesterone it’s because you aren’t ovulating -cue in infertility struggles.
So why aren’t you ovulating? It could be a number of things including:
-THYROID issues! (ME🙋🏻♀️)
- Underlying gut issues causing major stress on your body... also me.
At the end of the day, PCOS, Thyroid and the such have a lot to do with our diets and eating a specific way to support our bodies needs and keep our hormone health optimal. To make more progesterone, to ovulate and have a healthy period, we need to address the root cause and get down the gut of the issue. Heavy periods are typical, but NOT normal don’t just settle with the typical. #rootcause #guthealth #periodhealth #nutritioncoach #NTP #womenshealth
Yesterday was Saint Lucia day in Sweden! It’s one of my favorite days here leading up to Christmas. I love the image of Lucia bringing forth the light at the darkest time of year. It was a good reminder to me yesterday as I was going through a mini-flare that we are never without hope, even in what seem to be the darkest moments. Look for the little bit of light in your life today and have a great weekend! 🕯🎄❤️
Just wanted to share this blog post I wrote for all of us in the trenches trying to get an easy meal 🥘 on the table in the middle of all the extra Christmas activities. 🎄🎄💡Hope this helps you get your family fed onto whatever is next on the calendar! 🗓#mealtimeinaflash #wholefoodliving
LAUNDRY. Truth be told -- laundry is NOT my favorite activity. When I see the meme running around that says "your laundry needs to be put in the dryer" I simultaneously roll my eyes and run to the laundry room to do exactly that. THAT MEME IS FOR ME. And while I basically loath doing laundry -- what frustrates me more is the toxic chemicals that are in our everyday laundry products.
Did you know that the average family washes approximately 80 pounds of laundry per week? That's a lot of washing. Not only can you come in contact with caustic chemicals via your "clean" clothing, but you can inhale them once they become airborne while doing your laundry.
Some of the most harmful ingredients in dryer sheets and liquid fabric softener alike include benzyl acetate (linked to pancreatic cancer), benzyl alcohol (an upper respiratory tract irritant), ethanol (linked to central nervous system disorders), limonene (a known carcinogen) and chloroform (a neurotoxin and carcinogen). Not to mention fragrance -- a discussion for another day but suffice to say, they're hiding a bunch of yuck in there too.
Since fabric softeners & dryer sheets are designed to stay in your clothes for extended periods of time, these harmful chemicals can seep out gradually and be inhaled or absorbed directly through the skin. What you put on your skin matters.
One of my favorite clean swaps for dryer sheets are these wool dryer balls from @mollys_suds
Their dryer balls are sourced from humanely sheared sheep, plus they are compostable, antimicrobial, naturally soften fabrics, and are great for all laundry including delicates and cloth diapers. Wool does not coat the fibers of fabrics with toxins like conventional fabric softeners do so you have to take a couple extra steps to reduce static cling: try wetting the wool dryer balls and adding to the dryer for 3-4 minutes -- the moisture breaks static bonds. Works for me every time!

: Cook more from scratch! 🥘 🥗 🍋 🍅 🥒 🍆 🥕🥦 Cooking food from scratch is a wonderful life skill to master and a great creative outlet, but above all, it is the best way to make sure you and your family are getting quality nutrients from REAL food.
And it doesn’t have to be hard or boring! To start you off, here’s my berry crumble recipe. It’s super quick and simple to make. It works as a healthy breakfast or dessert, and it’s a real crowd pleaser. 🍏 I’ve recently started adding an apple to the berries - cooking the apple with the skin for 8-10 minutes releases the pectin which aids in healing and sealing the gut lining.
Gut Healing Berry Crumble:
1 kg mixed berries (frozen is fine)
1-2 apples (diced, skin on)
1-2 teaspoons cinnamon 🍓combine the above ingredients in a pot and simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once bubbling, reduce to a low simmer. 🍓In the meantime, make your crumb:
heat 1-2 tablespoons ghee or coconut oil in a pan and add 1/2 cup each of:
Almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans coconut chips, desiccated coconut... you can use any nuts or seeds you have on hand. Roughly chop them or blitz in the food processor.
Stir through the melted ghee or oil in med-high heat until golden and crispy (about 10 minutes). Stir continually and keep your eye on it or it might burn.
Once berries and apples are cooked though, pour the crumb over and serve. 🍓
Will you give this simple recipe a go? Tag me on your posts if you do! 🍓🍏

Nutrient dense and delicious food doesn’t have to be complicated! This organic turkey breast was tossed into my instant pot with two celery stalks, one carrot, and half an onion chopped. Add spices like herbs de Provence, or sage and thyme, or simply salt and pepper. Set to pressure cook for 40 minutes for fall off the bone meat. Leave the skin on to get all that good fat. When done release the pressure and remove the breast. Let cool 10-15 minutes and then remove meat. Add all the meat back into the pot. I decided to add 1 large zucchini chopped. You can add any veggies you have on hand. Pressure cook ten more minutes. That’s it, some chopping and more waiting. Healthy, delicious, easy. 👌🏼👏🏼
The next day I took the left overs added diced tomatoes , squeezed lime, and hot sauce 😄😄♥️ it was a whole new meal!

“Your body is like a furnace. It needs the right kind of fuel to burn lasting energy.”
Our bodies were designed to burn both fats and glucose for energy. But, burning FATS is actually the PREFERRED metabolic state for the human body.
However, our culture these days is burning mostly glucose (carbohydrates) for energy.
While glucose is often used by the muscles for a quick source of energy, it’s not the optimal fuel for regular metabolic processes.
The overconsumption of refined carbohydrates can cause roller coaster blood sugar levels - the sugar highs and crashes you might be familiar with. This is like if you were to feed newspaper to your furnace; it burns super fast.
Burning fat, on the other hand, gives a longer lasting energy source that keeps energy levels stable during the day and in between meals. Fats are the big logs you feed your body’s furnace.
Dietary fats are NOT the enemy. They are a long lasting fuel source that also play an important role in the health of your cells and production of hormones.
What is YOUR favourite source of slow burning fuel? 🥑🥥🥜
Truth be told, I wasn’t planning to do a Thirsty Thursday post this week as I have 1) been slacking a bit on them & 2) wasn’t feeling the most inspired. 😬 Maybe because we did quite a bit of drinking last weekend (Sunil’s Christmas Party & ELTON JOHN) so honestly a cocktail didn’t sound appetizing. 🤷🏼♀️
So in came this Holiday Cheer mocktail ✨❤️🎄 I combined:
• half a lemon, juiced
• 1 oz pomegranate juice
• equal parts @healthade
Holiday Cheers kombucha & @topochicousa
• garnished with cranberries & rosemary sprig
**would totally be delicious with some gin or vodka too! Or even replace the Topo Chico with some Prosecco** 🥂
As just a little reminder during this season of festivities, stop feeling obligated to drink. If it sounds good to you & you want to enjoy responsibly, then by all means GO 👏🏼 FOR 👏🏼 IT. But also give yourself that same freedom to skip the booze & make yourself a little mocktail instead. I’m sure your body, and tomorrow, will be thankful. 🙏🏼✨

New year resolution idea #1
: Eat more greens! 💚
It sounds like a cliche, right? But there is plenty of truth and science behind this old saying. ✅ Leafy greens are a great source of fiber, assisting with bowel movements and providing food for the beneficial bacteria residing in our gut.
✅ Leafy greens are a good source of many important minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, molybdenum, vanadium, and more!
✅ Leafy greens are a good source of vitamins A, C and K which enhance our body’s ability to heal and protect itself from disease.
✅ Cruciferous veggies (kale, cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts...) are rich in sulphur which is an important compound needed for detoxification.
✅ Bitter greens stimulate enzyme production and bile flow, helping us digest our food, especially those healthy fats so that we can absorb these essential nutrients from our food.
✅ Leafy greens help with balancing blood sugar and reduce sugar cravings.
✅ Leafy greens are great for bulking up your meals, without bulking up your carbohydrate intake. (Try serving your home made bolognese over broccoli and kale instead of pasta)
I could go on but you get the idea. Through all the benefits mentioned above, our bodies become better able to reduce inflammation, balance hormones, maintain healthy levels of cholesterol and function more optimally.
Will you consider Eating More Greens as your new year’s resolution? 💚

To meat or not to meat? 🥩🤔 That is the question.
Plant-based diets have been on the rise lately. While I am all for eating more veggies, there ARE benefits to eating animal products regularly.
Humans have been eating meat for millions of years - not only are we well adapted to meat consumption, but they are also reliant on the vitamins and minerals found in animal products.

Spaghetti Bolognese with yellow squash noodles and a side of roasted purple cabbage. For the sauce I blended two large organic Roma tomatoes, two big handfuls of arugula, and about a cup and a half of sundried tomatoes in olive oil. Added dried basil and oregano to taste. Before blending though, I was sautéing one sweet yellow onion and one garlic clove with 1.5 large shredded carrots for some added sweetness, salt and pepper to taste. Brown 1lb of grass fed ground beef and add to onions, garlic and shredded carrots. Continue to cook so the flavors can meld together (about 5ish mins). Add blended tomato mixture and let simmer for 20 mins (or more if you’d like to really enhance all the flavors) occasionally tasting to see if it needs more salt or herbs. Spiralize a couple zucchini, I used yellow squash, and sauté a bit to get some of the moisture out but keeping some of the crunch. Add it all together and enjoy!

Slow and steady wins the race. Have you ever heard this expression? We have to look at our health like this. A journey, not an event. It takes time to become ill and it will take months if not years to thrive.
There are days where I don’t want to swallow one more supplement, eat healthy, and think how much easier it would be to feed my girls Taco Bell and Sour Patch Kids. But then reality strikes me and I am more then grateful for our health trials and our journey. **
I ran into a client today and I asked her how she was feeling. In almost 6 months she has improved greatly. I reminded her we have to keep going, keep killing off the bad overgrowth, and replenishing the good. She is seeing results, because she is putting in the work. She is willing to eat well, exercise, and take somewhere upwards of 20 or more pills a day. It’s a commitment friends but I believe we are all more then worth it. #ntp #growingupholistic #parasites #candida #cellcore #love #nutritionaltherapy #whatisyourpurpose #slowandsteadywinstherace #journey #health #weallhaveachoice

On that note I posted a new blog post with my version of a Holiday Gift Guide! .

CHOCOLATE + ORANGE. I have fond memories of Terry's Chocolate Oranges during the holidays. It's a seriously delicious combination of chocolate with a hint of orange oil that comes in “segments”, just like a real orange. Which for 7-year-old Cassie was the stuff of dreams. The tradition in our family was to open one on Christmas Eve -- my brother would always volunteer to hit the top and the chocolate orange ball would fall into sections for all of us to enjoy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Chocolate + Orange have a special place in my heart. It feels like Christmas. Like family. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I put out my first dessert menu as a pastry chef -- these little beauties were the first thing I dreamed up and from that day forward -- I wasn't allowed to take them off the menu without a detailed explanation of when they'd be back to all of our patrons.
Whisking egg yolks and sugar, tempering the mixture with warm coconut milk and chocolate is as romantic as is sounds. These is for my SERIOUS chocolate-lovers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Chocolate pot de crème is super-rich, decadent French take on chocolate pudding that will make you feel like a culinary boss at any holiday gathering. This dairy-free version is a mix of full-fat coconut milk, bittersweet chocolate, egg yolks that is scented with orange. Make sure to finish these with some fresh whipped cream, whipped coconut cream, or my favorite -- Coyo Coconut Yogurt.
Don’t shy away from this gem. It’s simple -- just don’t rush the process. In fact, pots de creme is one of my favorite ultra-fancy desserts that always impress a crowd and are so easy to make ahead. Hellooooooo Christmas.

You wanted it so I’ll share what we’ve been using for the last 6 years about every other week (or) before and after company comes. Truth be told carpets are about as nasty as you can get no matter what vacuum cleaner you have. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t believe me?
Next time you put in new carpet take a gander underneath the carpet and the carpet pad at ALL the stuff your vacuum couldn’t suck up. 🤢 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, we’re renters, our girls have carpet in their room and I have zero say about it. Beggars cannot be choosy, know what I mean? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
because Lord knows we DO NOT need anymore toxins in our life, so let’s control the ones in our homes. I mix maybe a 1/2 cup baking soda with 4-6 drops EO of choice, place tin foil over top, screw the outside lid on, SHAKE really well, poke a couple holes in the top and then we are ready to rumble. Shake it, shake it real good all over the carpet, leave for at least 30 minutes or until the next day like your girl here, then vacuum up. #boom
Baking soda is not a disinfectant but rather an absorbent. So, we use it to absorb bad smell and be a “carrier”. Then we add the #ongaurd
blend from #doterra
. Not only does it smell like fall but it has been studied to inhibit mold growth, attenuating influenza virus and supporting healthy immune response. #checkitout

Breakfast this morning wasn’t quite as “fancy” as yesterday, but still delicious and nutritious. @vitalfarms
pasture raised eggs, an organic pink lady apple (my favorite variety), and a packet of @fatissmartfuel
macadamia pecan butter. 😋
If you haven’t had macadamia pecan butter, you are missing out! I love all of F Bomb’s nut butters, but I think this one is my favorite. Their butters are made here in my home state of Arizona and are packed with nutrients, and no added sugars or fillers! I wish they had a jar option as well. I love the packets when I’m on the go, but here at home a jar would be so much more convenient.
Let’s chat a little about pasture raised eggs. Eggs are one of the most nutritious foods you can eat, and those nutrients and health benefits increase exponentially when the hens they come from are raised in their natural environment, on green grass in sunlight. Eggs are an excellent source of all B vitamins, especially choline, as well as a vast array of other nutrients and omega 3 fatty acids. The amount of the beneficial omega 3 fatty acids found in eggs depends on how the hens who laid them were raised. Some studies have shown that you would have to eat 11 eggs from “conventional” (conventional by today’s standards) caged eggs to equal the omega 3 content of just one pasture raised egg!
Now, back to choline for a minute. Choline is one of the few vitamins that crosses the blood brain barrier and can be helpful in the treatment of neurological disease, memory loss, muscle twitching and heart palpitations. It’s also crucial for eye health and aids the liver in detoxification. So many important roles for just one nutrient!
EVERYONE SUFFERS FROM THIS, AND LETS IT HOLD THEM BACK…
Change is scary, and it’s the unknown that scares you the most.
You may not like where you’re currently at with your health and how your body looks and feels... but the crazy thing is you know what to expect, so you stay there.
When you change your mindset and lifestyle you don’t know what to expect, and that fear of the unknown is what keeps you complacent.
Maybe you’re afraid that this will be another diet in the pile of unsuccessful attempts to lose weight...Sound familiar ?
You’re afraid of your own success, sound crazy right ? Hear me out...
But what if you’ve been telling yourself a story about your weight being the problem in multiple areas of your life, and you lose the weight but the problem is still there… now that’s scary shit.
The fear of having different habits than the rest of your social circles, and the fear of having more attention placed on you and your weight loss could cause you to self sabotage… right ?
The big thing to recognize about everything I’ve said in this post is…
None of this is factually true, it’s all stories that have been written by your fear to keep you complacent.
When you break get past the fear and commit to becoming a better version of who you already are the fear of change goes away because you’re in the middle of that change everyday.
When you’re ready to exchange those old fear based stories, that aren’t letting you live the life we both know you deserve filled with confidence, more fun and living up to your real potential send me a DM and I’d love to chat.

1/2 tsp sea salt
1/3 raw honey (I used maple syrup)
1/4 cup coconut oil, melted (I used melted butter)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg - at room temperature
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
Heat oven to 350. In a large bowl I melted butter for 20 seconds in the microwave, then stirred in sea salt (so it dissolves), vanilla, maple, and finally the egg, Then mixed well with almond flour & baking soda following up by mixing in the chocolate chips. Then greased my 9x13 baking dish & patted down the cookie dough evenly. Baked it for 20-25 minutes or until the toothpick came out clean. .
This was a seriously easy recipe and it gets a huge thumbs up from my kids. 👍🏼 Loving that I’m sneaking in almond too, a great source of both magnesium and calcium, -great for heart health and muscle contraction & relaxation. And hey, if you’re going to indulge it might as well have some powerhouse minerals too! #enjoyingtheseason
THE BEST and easiest weeknight meal! Roasted skin on, bone in chicken with veggies. (I forgot to take an after picture, so this is what you get 🤷🏻♀️)
Dice up potatoes of choice and mix with avocado oil, sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, + oregano. Do the same with some Brussels sprouts and carrots (or veggies of choice) but just season with salt, pepper and garlic. Spread out onto a baking sheet or 2 depending on how much you’re cooking. Place chicken thighs + legs evenly on top of veggies, season with salt and pepper, and bake everything @ 475F for about 25-35 minutes or until veggies are done and chicken reaches 165F. Let sit for a few minutes, then enjoy 👌🏼
