Loving this combo!!! * * I had some cherry tomatoes I needed to use so I sautéed them in some ghee, with sea salt and seasoning and then added in zucchini noodles, so it became a sauce. * * Topped with some wild caught salmon, and organic pastured feta cheese 🤤omg SO good. * * Wild salmon is also loaded with Omega-3 an essential fatty acid meaning our bodies don’t produce it so we have to get it from food. * * There is lot of controversy around dairy. There are a lot of people who cannot tolerate dairy, and for those that can quality is very important in order to get the health benefits. * * But in that case when you are buying organic, raw if possible, grass-fed being even better dairy can be a very healthful food. * * As always you need to figure out what works for YOUR body!!! I stepped out of the kitchen and heard ‘oh wow!’. I thought he was commenting on a soccer game that happened today (it’s the Champions League), but he was talking about this meal! ✨ Fish is pretty much the only food I will make during the work week because it’s fast. This is my fave walnut crusted salmon with cauliflower rice and a hello Thai curry I picked up on @thrivemkt ! It had just enough heat and was sooooo satisfying!

Hydrate, hydrate, everywhere... Adequate hydration is important to countless bodily processes, including basic digestion. And poor hydration is the most common nutritional deficiency in the American population. . Many symptoms such as headaches, heartburn, hypertension, joint pain, and depression — which western culture tends to treat first with pharmaceutical medications that can lead to additional problems — may dramatically improve and/or disappear altogether with adequate intake of well-sourced, high quality water. . That’s because proper hydration supports the transportation of oxygen and nutrients to our cells, communication between cells, body temperature regulation, joint lubrication and cushioning, waste removal, flushing of toxins, and much more! . I certainly notice a difference in both energy and mood, depending on whether I’m able to stick to my morning routine of drinking (first thing, before anything else) a quart of filtered, remineralized water. I also tend to add a slice of lemon and a dash of @redmondrealsalt to support my digestion. This practice really can just set the tone for the rest of my day. . A few tips: 1) Avoid tap water and dead water. Natural spring water is best, but don’t be afraid to do your own research and choose what seems best and most accessible for you. 2) Because fluids can dilute the stomach acid needed to properly digest our foods, water is best consumed away from meals (about 30 min before & 2 hours after). 3) Whatever number you get when dividing your body weight by 2 is — in ounces — how much water you should be drinking each day. If you’re drinking diuretics, then you’ll need more water. 4) Do not chug, but sip water steadily throughout the day. I’m so excited about my first order from @butcher_box 👍🏻 One reason I’m not a huge fan of grocery stores is that I don’t exactly know where my meat comes from when I purchase it ✨ I’m new to Butcher Box, so I can’t say exactly where my meat came from and I am no expert on their company, but I am super excited to try this out and test some new waters ✨ Butcher Box works with family farms and co-ops to bring grass-fed beef, heritage breed pork and organic chicken right to their customer’s front doors. I am a huge fan of this for many reasons. 1-I don’t know what I’m getting at the store. Period. Food labeling is deceptive. 2- I really want to be more in touch with my farm to table experience. While I don’t personally know the farmers my meat is coming from at this point, I am going to trust that Butcher Box has a goal in mind and it aligns with how I want to feed my family. Grass fed-grass finished-pastured-these things mean something to me. 3-I love supporting small businesses, farms and cool break out ideas and think outside the box companies. taco night, any night • Mixing up our taco game with options- shredded spicy chicken, shrimp, or all veggies (sautéed butternut squash, baby bellas, and onions), all covered in a fresh cabbage slaw, wrapped up in @sietefoods grain-free tortillas. The slaw is so simple to make, doesn’t really require measuring, and goes on almost anything: Combine chopped or shredded purple cabbage, add freshly squeezed lime juice, a splash of apple cider vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic or garlic powder, sea salt, and loads of cilantro. I also like to add a finely chopped Granny Smith apple or shredded carrots for more color and flavor. Man I miss the simplicity of life. When you could just have your cup of coffee (or matcha) in the silence and looking at your beautiful plants that bring you happiness. My car was stolen last night so that’s been one stress of the day. I shared on my stories some details so if you’re in the Everett area, keep your eyes peeled! I’d really appreciate it!! Still boggles my mind that people can be so mean... 🤷🏼‍♀️ On another note, my health has been on the biggest roller coaster ever, seeing doctors left and right, trying new treatments, more testing, etc. so I’ve taken a huge step back on here because I’m spending all my free time researching and going to appts to get better. I have some pondering ideas of what could be going on and connecting more dots- to be continued! And in these hard moments of life, lean on your support system, the people who love you and the small things that still bring you happiness. Or just take a nap.
It’s my last day in Austin. It’s being spent frantically wedding planning and organizing all those tiny final details I seem to have missed in this 9 month process 🤣 I can’t believe the next time I’ll be in Texas will be for my final dress fitting!👰🏼 - This past week, my parents hosted a dinner party & one of their friends made a delicious blueberry and lemon sponge cake. It didn’t look like the fanciest bake in the world, but my goodness did it taste delicious. The combination of lemon + blueberry is so light yet flavorful and inspired me to create my own low carb, paleo friendly version. It’s incredibly simple to make- just combine all the sponge ingredients, bake for 30 mins, pour over some homemade icing and there you have it. Enjoy! Recipe now up on the #BGW blog 🌿🌸

So I was trying to do a “30 Day Move Your Body Challenge” where I would do at least 30 mins of exercise everyday for 30 days to see the changes in my mind and body. I was doing well and keeping up with it for about 5 days and then I kinda fell off the wagon 😕. When I’m not active I notice my mental health is not as good and I start to feel depressed. So I’ve been starting to look at exercise as a way to keep my mind healthy, instead of something I have to do to loose weight or stay in shape. Even just walking for 30 minutes a day makes a world of a difference for my mental wellbeing. Lately I’ve really been loving jump roping! You don’t need a gym membership or really any equipment, except a jump rope, and sneakers (trust me, you want sneakers because it really hurts your toes when the rope hits them haha 😣). Jump roping is more fun for me than running, and I feel like my brain is getting a work out too! What are some of your favorite ways to workout and keep your mind healthy?😌
When we find ourselves on a path to #gettinghealthier , often times our friends (family, spouses, etc) aren’t quite as supportive as we would like them to be. There is always some pushback when people try to eat healthier, begin working out, or choose to drink less. People simply don’t want to be left behind; or maybe health just isn’t important to them. ## No matter how others react, you must follow your own path. A great way to make this a little easier is to form like-minded friendships, like joining a fitness community. Mine is @crossfitmodig . I like to surround myself with people who encourage me to do better in all areas of my life. 🌿cauliflower gnocchi with roasted veggies and spicy Italian sausage🌿 . . . I finally got around to trying the @traderjoes cauliflower gnocchi and it was good. I followed the cooking directions on the bag to cook on the stove. I tossed them in butter, garlic, lemon juice and zest. Next time I might try roasting them in the oven with the veggies. . . I served the gnocchi with roasted veggies and sausage tossed in avocado oil, garlic powder, onion powder, basil and oregano. Day 3 of bootcamp at @waterfordfbbc I can’t believe I’ve made it 3 days in a row and 2 of them at 5 am no less! I am already feeling more energetic, my mind is clearer and I feel stronger. Does my body ache? Absolutely! As it should. I’m already looking forward to day 4! 🚃 We’re camping this weekend so I will miss bootcamp Friday and Saturday, but will be hitting the trails at the campground to keep my body conditioned. I don’t want to fall of the rails too far. My intention is to workout at least 5 days a week. There are other accountability measures as a part of this challenge as well. Like keeping a food journal and hydrating. There is also a meal plan. This has forced me to pay more attention to what I am eating and how much water I am consuming (hydration is something I have always struggled with even as an NTP). Even those of us who are trained still need to pay attention and keep track. I am sticking to my normal way of eating since I know it is what works best for me. I eat Paleoish most of the time. I don’t do well with refined carbs at all, my body craves complex carbs, fat 🥑 and protein. I recently cut coffee for six weeks. I knew I was drinking far too much. I only recently re-introduced it although not near the quantity I was consuming it before. I don’t need coffee but I sure do enjoy it! As soon as I got home I heard “mom what’s for dinner??!!” Omg I don’t know....I’ve been gone for hours doing life with kids-I don’t know what’s for dinner 🤦🏼‍♀️ but what did I find? All my @traderjoes finds. Pre made organic burger patties 🍔 mini sweet potatoes 🍠 watermelon 🍉 and I didn’t necessarily cook anything. I threw the burgers on the grill, the sweet potatoes in the oven and sliced up fresh watermelon. Dinner is done ✅ and the hangry husband was satisfied 😋

Roasted chicken thighs have been pretty for a quick and easy way to meal prep. I have been buying the boneless, skinless (mainly for convenience) and then lay them out on a baking sheet. Currently I'm loving this garlic and herb spice blend from Frontier Natural Products Co-Op (I believe I purchased on Thrive Market). It has lemon essential oil in it and is a nice overall spice blend. Toss some of that on with sea salt and maybe turmeric and they are all set. In the oven at 350 for about 40-45 minutes. . . Depending on how done you like yours, you might want to check on them after 20-25 minutes but I prefer mine to have some crispy parts to them. YUM! When done I always pull mine apart so it is ready to mix in with a salad or vegetables. . . I have been so stuck in ‘basic meal prep’ just making healthy meals but honestly, they’ve been pretty boring. • There’s nothing wrong with making a good ol’ breakfast taco for dinner with @sietefoods almond flour tortillas, 3 fresh eggs from my chickens, organic retried beans, goat cheese and avocado. I’m putting my proverbial money where my mouth is. Here’s the bottom line, I deal with things on a daily basis that I wish I didn’t have to. Things I have the power to improve based on what I am or am not putting in my mouth. Some things we have to accept and love as they are part of us, but other things? Other things are a left little more up to us. My anxiety, digestive problems, ADHD symptoms, acne, and severe headaches/migraines are all things I truly don’t want to carry with me anymore. I’m just done. They are things I can heal with food. Things I don’t accept as good enough in such a beautiful life. I choose more. Okay so you want to make change in your life, but how could you? It’s hard as fuck to create space for yourself that fosters change. So many things are working against you. Social events, friends, family, circumstances ~ all parts of your life that love you, but parts that may not be in a place of change themselves (which is totally awesome), so how could they know how to support your change too? Plus dietary changes are so taboo. Everyone really wishes they could be the one to ‘go with the flow’, be the one ‘who can eat anything,’ be the one ‘who doesn’t care what they put in their body!’ It’s way more fun to be her! But there’s a reason why more and more people are experiencing symptoms they don’t like. Our food is fast, fake, processed, refined, microwaved, nutrient devoid, chemically altered, artificially sweetened, preserved, full of antibiotics, hormones, GMO’s toxins, and additives. You should care. Want more for yourself than that 👆🏼 I realize the way I could feel, is way more important than being easy-going. I realize the amount of personal commitment and strength it will take to hold space for myself in this way is far more important of an asset than being easy-going. That I’m more important. Sweat. Hustle. Striving. Depending on your view of things, these words can either elicit good feelings or you could kinda push up against them. ⠀ I’m totally in the middle. Hustle, hard work, and drive are really good qualities to have. But you can’t LIVE there. That’s how burnout happens. If you’re really good at hustle, be really good at soaking in a bath with a book too. If you’re really good at sweating and pushing yourself, be really good at meditation, too. ⠀ I went from one end of the spectrum with my training (no rest, all push) to the opposite (no lifting, focusing mostly on slow moving and mobility) and now I’m finding myself settling like a pendulum somewhere in the middle: combining hard work and strength training WITH resting, slow movement, and relaxing. ⠀ I might not be as strong as I was when my sole goal was lifting heavier, and my body might not be as “proportioned” as it was when I was competing in bikini, but I have a fit body that I’m working toward becoming friends with (instead of fighting against), and I have a whooooole lot more mental peace. ⠀ It may not be impressive, but it sure is sustainable. Sustainability, happiness, and CONFIDENCE are really the keys to a good, healthy fitness practice: ⠀ ▪️Do you enjoy what you’re doing? ⠀ ▪️Do you feel like what you’re doing is something you could be doing for the rest of your life? ⠀ ▪️Is what you’re doing helping you to become more confident and comfortable in your body? ⠀ Those are really vital questions that are the top things I address when creating programs for clients. HARVEST 🍅 I was super low key about my garden this year because last years garden did not make it very far... 🙈 This year I grew 3 different varieties of small tomatoes and I have been overwhelmed with the amount they’re producing! I love the idea of being able to grow my own food- there’s nothing like sourcing it right from your garden- also cost effective! Don’t ask me about my cucumber plant though... 😆

Totally quoting my new favorite movie, but no truer words could mark where I am today. The struggle is real, and just because I’ve been able to improve my quality of life by following the autoimmune protocol, doesn’t mean the symptoms & flare ups completely go away. I’m sick 🤒. When I’m sick I crave ramen. A comforting food my mom would make when I was young. No, not from scratch or full of nutrition but warm, salty, and soothing.
