Here's a mid-week reminder to be gentle on yourself 💖 * I am by no means perfect at this, in fact I can be my own harshest critic and get down on myself for not living up to my perfectionist standards * I'm learning to be more accepting of myself 🤗 as well as being more present. I've lived a lot of my life either dwelling on the past (aka depression) or worrying about the future (aka anxiety) and that's no way to live a happy and peaceful life. Being more present in the here and now and accepting whatever I may be feeling is a newfound tool I'm using in my self care toolbox 🔨 * It's ok to not be perfect. It's ok to make mistakes. Let me preface that this salad, with mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, hem seeds, and a homemade lemon garlic basil vinaigrette was amazing 👌🌿🍋 . For those of you who don’t know me, I am very allergic to tree nuts 😕 it’s sad, but that just means I need to get my healthy fats from other sources. . I can honestly say I have not tried hemp seeds until today, and I am loving them! ❤️ . Hemp seeds are a great plant based protein high in fiber and omega 3 fatty acids. They are also high in GLA (gamma linoleic acid) a necessary building block for prostaglandins, which help control inflammation. . They also help feed the probiotics in your gut, have been proven to help with digestive health, manage joint pain, lower cholesterol levels and improve Hair skin and nail health. This is why there’s so many different skincare products with hemp oil! . I will also add that this salad tasted extra amazing bc it was all veggies from the farmer’s market. Sooo much more flavorful. . If you haven’t tried hemp seeds, give em a shot! They’re great in smoothies, over a salad, in your yogurt and I’m sure lots more! Thanks for the rec @samantha_lotus ! 💕 . Now this felt like summertime! 🌞 🏖 . . I marinated chicken breasts in @thenewprimal marinade with cilantro and the hubs grilled tonight. . . I didn’t really know what I wanted to make with it as he said he wasn’t really that hungry. But I made a last minute decision and it was a pretty darn good one. . . Base is arugula and lettuce, topped with fresh cilantro (yum!), pineapple, tomatoes and radishes on the side. I sprinkled some coconut aminos, avocado oil and season salt on top. Dinners can be easy! I am running out of groceries since I wasn’t here this weekend, so I whipped up taco meat (taco meat seasoning, NOT old el paso), cut up some tomaters, avocado, and added this AMAZING @hawthornevalley Ruby Red Sauerkraut. No joke, this stuff is 🔥🔥. I have my second Tribe call tonight with my friend, which I’m excited for. I know after a long day it can be SO tempting to plop infront of the TV and veg, but the one thing that I’ve found to work is to just not think about it. I don’t change out of my day clothes (grant it I wear jeans to work), and start making dinner and clean up any messes before I get my jammies on. 🍌Paleo Banana Bread 🍌 . . We are in San Diego for the summer and need easy and healthy snacks to take with us to the beach and pool. This banana bread was easy to make and is grain free and dairy free. I used @bobsredmill paleo flour blend and followed the muffin recipe on the packaging to make bread. I added in a couple bananas to make it banana bread- will prob add a third banana next time. . . . Aahhhhhhhh, so this is happening. Again. I've been slowly putting this beauty together for a while. After having baby #3 , I've sort of forgotten what I want to be when I grow up. Or what I want to do. Or what lights a fire under my ass. Or what really gets me moving in the morning and excites me. To say I've been in a funk is a complete understatement. Like, understatements of understatements. . I love momming. It's totally my jam. My kids are awesome. Usually. But moms, I don't know about you, but I need more. I finally hit a wall where I realized that I have to do something for myself and only for myself. Something that fills my bucket and gives me purpose other than just being a mom. And I don't feel bad or selfish one tiny bit. . So 2 things: (1) I'm committed to building my Beautycounter business however long or short it takes me. I've developed new relationships and I get to be part of something that's actually really cool. I've also got a pretty good thing going with @pineapplesandplaid whether she likes it or not. And (2) I'm going back to my nutrition roots, where it all began. I've learned what I love about helping people and what I don't really love (ahem, meal planning). So, I'm excited to move forward and help people in a way that has the potential to change lives forever but also won't wear me down in the meantime. . I have developed a habit of sitting quietly in the mornings with my thoughts. . I don't let them run wild but rather I capture them and shape them into affirmations and prayers for the day. I figure out how to manifest them into a positive if they appear as a negative. . This practice does not come easy and it requires me to wake up earlier than I really want to but I have been doing it consistently for the last 60 days and y'all, it has changed my life. . I gain focus and purpose for my day and I remind myself, as I face challenges, of my affirmations for the day. I no longer allow myself the time or energy of "what if" bc I did not set an intention of "what if" that morning. I set intentions with purpose and I make a plan to get them done. . I used to sit in fear and linger there bc I couldn't figure out how to make something happen without it causing my major anxiety. I now remind myself that I have overcome bigger and more difficult things and I can overcome this too. So I make a plan in my morning routine to do just that. . I am more productive in my days. I am more focused on my goals. I can see them happening in my future and most of all I am loving myself through this process instead of beating myself up bc I am still stuck in the same spot I was yesterday. . You are a beautiful and powerful being capable of so much more than you believe. You can definitely live your dreams and you can take steps to find that space today. Whether it is creating you own morning routine or how ever it looks to you; for you. You can do it. . P.S. I did not get here without the guidance of some amazing women in my life. I credit the techniques I learned in #thebrunchseries with @danikabrysha for helping me develop and fine tune my morning routine as it is today. Time to harvest our latest batch of sprouts. Do you do this? All you need is a cheap tiered sprouter and some organic seeds - then you're all set to harvest to your heart's content. . . Broccoli sprouts contain way more nutrients than regular broccoli. Research has shown they are useful in halting the progression of many cancers which is pretty impressive. Not just that, but they keep our hearts and brains healthy. That includes the myelin sheath which, when damaged, can be a contributing factor in Multiple Sclerosis. They also lower inflammation, build bones, and help us to detoxify. And they look cute too 😆 . This bowl may be overflowing but with four of us it won't last very long, since we each have a big handful every day. So now this lot's ready, we already have another batch on the go. . INTUITIVE EATING // I almost have a high protein breakfast with some sort of meat, salmon, or eggs. But today when I went to make breakfast, the thought of some heavy meat just did not sit right with me. So I honored my body’s wisdom and made this bowl of @kitehillfoods almond milk Greek yogurt and grain free granola with nuts, coconut flakes, and hemp seeds instead and it’s sitting much better with me. . I think we can tend to get caught up in what we *should* or *shouldnt* eat and lose sight of what our body is telling us it wants. We follow macro plans that dictate our every bite of food. I’m not allowed any more carbs today!!! Or, I ate all of my calories already and I haven’t had dinner! 🙅🏻‍♀️ . If we stop counting and analyzing every bite of food and instead tap into our body’s innate intelligence, you’ll see the answer to what your body needs for fuel is already there. . Eat real, Whole Foods. As much as you want until you’re satisfied. When a big sweet potato just sounds so good to you, eat the potato!! When the thought of meat just isn’t sitting right with you; then opt for something else. Our bodies are very smart and have an amazing ability to heal and tell us everything we need to know if we just honor that and stop trying to make our food fit into some macro or calorie plan. The lesson here, listen to your body! This is a post I have been wanting to write for a while, but just didn't know how to put it into words. This has been a very prominent thought in my head this year and one that it is important. I keep acknowledging the fact that I am now living my dream life, I'm here, but remember the days I used to yearn for this. The days when I felt like nothing was going my way or the life I wanted seemed too far fetched. Maybe you can relate to those days too, or maybe you are living them right now. I’m kind of always craving avocado 🤣😅 And to think there was a time that I didn’t like it!! I would have missed out on these avocado spinach chicken burgers from the blog 😉 . . One of the biggest things that held me back from changing my diet was that I was SUCH a picky eater. I couldn’t eat a single meal without some sort of bread or grain, and I hated most meat and vegetables. Little did I know that my tastebuds were just shot from all of the processed food I ate, and that my digestion was SO weak that I couldn’t tolerate so many nourishing foods. Once I started to push myself to change my diet and heal my gut, everything changed! Yes, it took effort, by slowly, I began to love real food. Recipes like this don’t hurt the process though 😉 . . What foods did you used to not like and now enjoy? The big ones for me were avocado, all red meat, bacon (yes, I didn’t like bacon!!), parsnips, and onions... all foods that I LOVE now. . . Spent most of the weekend with my Dad. 💗Don’t let the gray hair and beard fool you, this man does more physical work a day than most of us. Since he stopped working a little over a year ago to battle cancer he’s been spending his time in the garage, where he works on his motorcycles and cars. He has over 10 dirt bikes that are from the 1970’s that he finds on craigslist and fixes up to ride a few times and then sells them. He’s always been fixing or building something my whole life, and he taught me a lot about cars. My dad also spent over 20 years in the military so he knows how to put up a good fight. It’s hard being so far away from him and the rest of my family, but especially hard in times like this. I’ve shed a few tears over the past 24 hours because it’s hard to leave. While I cherish the time we have together, it’s never enough. I know some people say when they have kids they realize life is so short, but for me it started with my grandparents passing, and now this just makes me want to hang on to every second with my parents. Enjoy every second you have with your loved ones, even if you spent every waking hour with them, it would never be enough. . PS ➡️ He also can party harder than us too 😂

I'm currently reading "A Return to Love" which is a reflection on a Course in Miracles. It is a spiritual guide on how to use love instead of fear to find inner peace and how to truly give up control to a higher power. I highly recommend this book and have learned so much. "Through the miraculous power of pure love, we let go our past history in any area and begin again.... The past is over. It doesn't matter who we are, where we came from, what Mommy said, what Daddy did, what mistakes we made, what diseases we have, or how depressed we feel. The future can be reprogrammed in this moment. We don't need another seminar, another degree, another lifetime, or anyone's approval in order for this to happen. All we have to do is ask for a miracle and allow it to happen, not resist it. There can be a new beginning, a life unlike the past. Our relationships shall be made new. Our careers shall be made new. Our bodies shall be made new. Our planet shall be made new. So shall the will of God be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Not later, but now. Not elsewhere, but here. It’s been a full week close to NO fibro pain which is INSANE considering it has been ridiculously humid here in Minnesota, and I know my fellow fibro warriors have been struggling big time through this weather. Two days late but its needs to be said: this man is so much of who I am today. He is the courage that I’m just finding in myself now at 28. I haven’t posted much lately due to simply being busy with NTP coursework and life, but wanted to share some favorites with y’all! . I have simplified a lot of things over the years (one of the only positive side effects from moving repeatedly 😝) and that includes my refrigerator and pantry! I used to have all kinds of different salad dressings, condiments, etc. . I found that we typically had a favorite dressing and always used it and bought more while the least favorite ones just hung out taking up space in the refrigerator. Sound familiar?? . As we have made the transition to better quality foods and eliminating highly processed oils, @primalkitchenfoods avocado oil salad dressings have become our new favorites. I have found that buying only ranch and balsamic makes everyone happy, we use the whole bottle, and I have a lot more space on the refrigerator door! . Started a batch of beet kvass this morning. I’ll let it ferment for a couple of days before putting it in the fridge for another few days and then it’s good to drink. Pictured here before I added filtered water. . Beet kvass is great for helping digestion and supporting the liver which is a priority for me after taking multiple extra strength anti-histamines to help with my body over reacting to a mosquito bite and swelling up my foot. . My foot is nearly back to normal but still itches so my sleep was really affected last night. Hopefully it will be 100% tomorrow. .
