JOURNEYS: From 6th to 16th June, the Australian-born @nunan.cartwright.art
family will present an exhibition of sculpture at the Australian High Commission #London
against the backdrop of Nolan's large scale #abstracts
. The abstracts form part of the exhibition by Shona Nunan and Michael Cartwright, along with their sons Sollai and Jacob Cartwright, who work in a range of media, including bronze, marble, wood, silver and sound. ”Collectively, they encourage viewers to consider the myriad of journeys that have informed the sculptures; the journey of the works themselves, from raw material through to creation; but also the journey of a family of sculptors who have continued to inspire one another, whilst developing highly idiosyncratic bodies of work.” .
Staged as part of the year long celebrations to mark the centenary of the iconic building (#AusHouse100
), this is the first time that the family have shown their art together.
There are also two fascinating discussion events around creating, curating and collecting contemporary sculpture to coincide - details and links to booking information here: http://www.sidneynolantrust.org/whats-on/journeys-an-exhibition-of-sculpture
The four abstracts by Nolan are currently on loan to the Australian High Commission and the Trust feels privileged to have these paintings on display during #AusHouse100
