Whole foods are so filling and full of colour
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. As a matter of fact, the simpler the better works best for me 👍🏻 My go to meal is anything tacos 🌮 Usually it’s a salad 🥗 because I can get those veggies in too! Along with some sort of carb. Typically it’s a whole wheat wrap but on this program, I’m limited for a bit so sweet potato it is! I don’t mind cause they’re amazing and I love them 😍 Simply nutritious and delicious 😋 Can’t beat it. I’m satisfied until my next meal and I always feel good knowing I’m fueling my body with the right foods. Eat good, feel good. Eat crap, feel crappy. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s easy to understand, but up to you whether you follow it or not. It’s your choice, what do you choose? 🤔

Just a little peep at our grocery cart ✨
Usually we try to avoid plastic as much as possible- but sometimes it’s hard!! For instance, usually carrots can be purchased in bulk unpackaged. But not this week! The only bunch of carrots was packaged.
For most of our bulk items (seeds, protein powder, dried herbs, etc) we purchase online through @thrivemkt
because it’s sooo much more affordable! 🌱
Also, with our recent move (we finally move into our place tomorrow-eeep!!) I’m really looking forward to finding my new favorite grocery store. Pretty sure it’s gonna be @wholefoods
& the cutest little urban market we found within walking distance of our place. Pretty sure I cried when we discovered it. Does anyone else love grocery shopping/their favorite grocery store as much as it do??

What's your current favourite juice combo?☀️ For Alan and I, it's all about the rainbow!🌈
We love enjoying the summer vibes by making a cleansing concoction like this and heading down to the beach to relax, unwind and cool off.⛱
✅ Did you know that carrots contain a phytonutrient called falcarinol, which is currently being researched for its ability to fight intestinal cancer?😲 Very exciting!

I’m in the middle of moving and my friend brought me a #totesaip
dinner. Don’t be afraid to say “YES” when someone offers to help. Seriously, we’re all in this together, so accept the help and pay it forward when you can!
You know what I love about one-pot meals? They're easy to make, and the clean up is no fuss! One-pot meals also allow for the flavours of all the ingredients used to mix and mingle which then creates a delicious and savoury dish. This Chicken Curry with Cauliflower & Sweet Potatoes is one of my favourite one-pot meals, and is a great gluten free dish for the upcoming fall weather. ⠀

IT’S A RAINY SUNDAY and I am SO LIT about it. I mean seriously, my favorite things are rainy weather and Sundays, so this worked out well. 😊
Today was a little unusual though, compared to other Sundays, because usually, we take the day slowwww, I don’t workout, & my dad cooks up some seriously good meals. Today though, my mom & I went to brunch & shipping while my dad and brother went golfing with some work friends, and tonight, my parents are going out to dinner with the same people - long story short, it’s @cleaneatsbytay
‘s BAKED OATS FOR ME on this rainy evening! 😍
My usual photo backdrop outside was foiled due to the downpour 🌧, so y’all can see the realness of the white printer paper I tried to use to take this inside. 😂 Catch the recipe for a tonnn of different kinds of baked oats on @cleaneatsbytay
‘s page! Happy Sunday, all! ✨🌟💫💛
Meal Prep Sunday is more fun with fresh herbs from a friend's garden. I have my own mini garden in glasses on my counter now 😂
What did you create this week?
My menu for the week:
Egg White Shakes,
Rice Cakes & Almond Butter,
Sicilian Chicken & Rice,
& Don't forget the supplements...
has me covered for all of my workout & recovery needs. ▪

Time for a cart highlight 🎉 COCONUT AMINOS. Lots of you ask what they are, why they’re in my cart, and what the heck I do with them; this is your post. Coconut aminos, are a sauce derived from coconut sap and have a light touch of sweet mixes salty. The taste resembles soy sauce, yet it tends to have ~ 500-600 mg less sodium per serving (this adds up quickly, especially since a serving is 1 TBSP, which no one ever uses) compared to most soy sauces. I probably wouldn’t have tried it if it wasn’t for having a soy intolerance (i was craving Asian inspired recipes using soy sauce and was in search for an alternative), but i recommend it to everyone because it rocks. ————————————————————-
It’s a 1:1 sub for soy sauce, and it’s even 🚒 approved. Lately I’ve been loving making a peanut or almond butter sauce to use in stir fry or as a dipping sauce: almond or peanut butter (2 tbsp), coconut aminos (1/3 cup), garlic clove, ginger, salt, pepper, cayenne, and a touch of honey (1 tsp) if desired, made on stovetop. HOW DO YOU COCONUT AMINO? Share with us so we can create a recipe thread and get creative...

Reset! Time to refocus, recommit and remember WHY I started this journey... Every Monday it’s a way to start the week... if you don’t stay focused on what you want and where your going... you’ll end up somewhere else... ✌️

Courgette, leek and goats cheese soup. You are probably all thinking ‘Is she mad, in this heat?’☀️it was, however, delicious, light and refreshing. I must admit I could eat soup 🥘all year round, it’s one of my favourite foods, it doesn’t take much to knock up a batch, it can be a fridge clear out, or a something you specially buy ingredients for. It can be hot or cold, thick or thin. I love it! Make som soup guys! 💜😄 #freshfood #happyfood

CINNAMON, APPLE ROSE MUFFINS (gf, df)🍎•
We all get them.
Little shades of grey everywhere.
I’ve experienced some dark greys this past week when I got the call that my mom fell and broke her hip. It’s hard because I am sitting on the other side of the world and can’t see her right now. She’s 73, but strong and healthy. She is the strongest person I know and one thing I’ve learned from her is that our greatest weapon against any grey in our life is gratitude.
So this morning I am pushing trough the grey to grab hold of gratitude.
She loves roses so these muffins are for you mom!

Remembering that time we made 15 liters of kimchi with @tomasreyesvarela
in this beautiful black clay pot from La Chamba that @sighlab
gave me for my birthday.
The word kimchi comes from the pre-modern Chinese word chimchae, which just means soaked vegetables. Kimchi has been an essential component of Korean gastronomy for millennia. There is still debate about the exact dates of its origin. It was developed as a means of preserving food in winter. Vegetables were salted, stored in clay pots like this one, and buried for a thorough, slow fermentation harnessing the natural interactions between bacteria and their environment. Lactobacillus, a strain of bacteria that thrives in saltwater, converts carbohydrates and sugars into lactic acid and carbon dioxide, giving kimchi its signature effervescence and tang. This transformation also makes minerals, amino acids, and vitamins already present in the vegetables more readily available for human digestion.
This nutritional feast was therefore ready to nourish people in spring, at the peak of food scarcity. It complimented a rice-based diet, keeping people healthy and properly nourished. It has been cherished in Korea ever since and is now craved the world over for its spicy punch which it owes to the introduction of the chilli pepper to East Asia in the sixteenth century. The most popular version of this Korean staple is made with napa cabbage, daikon, scallion, garlic, ginger, fish sauce, and chilli peppers, but there are many varieties. Apples, bonito flakes, carrots, meat, pears, coconut, and rice flour are just a few of many unusual ingredients I have heard of being used in kimchi making.
Researchers believe that the benefits of kimchi are numerous—from revitalizing digestion and the immune system to fighting cancer, improving circulation, lowering cholesterol, and enhancing mental health and skin. Get your kimchi on!
